Looks like trollies full of stuff being picked for for home delivery.

I’m not saying you’re doing this but whoever these sadistic losers are on social media need to pack it in with whipping people up even more.

My alcoholic dad's job was to do the big Xmas shop. Every year he was given a list and managed to get 'sort of' what was on 'the list'. We always assumed it was because he was walking around the shop pissed out of his brains. By accident what we discovered what he actually did was before he started getting pissed was go to the supermarket see if he could spy an 'unguarded' trolley 'full' of Xmas groceries (because "...it's all the same sh1t...") and take it to the checkout and pay for it...

That was snapped by my sister's friend. That's someone from the bakery trying to clear the queues.

It's not from Twitter or FB.

Fair enough. I just don’t want to believe people are actually doing it.

It's pretty obvious now that people simply won't stop hoarding so we need to take the next step and ration. Today.

That simply will not work because I am entitled, in fact it is my human right, to have a choice of at least 60 different pasta shapes and if it wasn’t for all these panic buyers I wouldn’t have to panic buy my preference in bulk.

Probably Wayne Rooney. He didn't mention in his article that he wouldn't steal from a food bank so make your own mind up

    Totally agree.

What chance have these kids got when posts like that suggest they should all feel sorry for themselves.

Top marks for the volunteering, HH24!

Supermarket at 2pm today was really quiet. A lot of the essentials fruit veg meat etc gone, but if you're in for normal run of the mill stuff was a breeze.

Hoping peopel will run out of space in the next week or so and we'll get back to some form of normality.

My son is 15 and actually finished school yesterday. They did a hurried "final assembly" where they signed shirts etc and then that was it.

He's actually pretty ok with it but then he did well in his mocks and has really good predicted grades.

I think there is a bit of shock amongst his peers about how quickly it all happened but that will pass.

My only disappointment is that I was hoping he would get a summer job after the exams but that seems unlikely now. The near 6 months before he starts college with nothing to focus on, and virtually trapped at home, is a little scary for everyone tbh. Time to teach him some DIY skills methinks....

With all these idiots buying up far more than they need, perhaps the government should bring in RATIONING, by issuing RATION BOOKS like they had during World War 2.

Then we would all get only our fair share.

There are many pros and cons about living in the US.

One significant pro was seeing the way many here treat others, and feel secure in the fact we’d never be like the uninformed, self-centric foaming masses here.

This thread has cruelly taken that away from me.

Rationing or split the alphabet between the 7 days of the week so you can only go shopping on one day a week is needed if this carries on. They need to do something apart from Johnson asking people to be reasonable.

TBF the tw@ts I've highlighted have been a tiny minority. The vast majority of the other shoppers I've met, especially in the big stores, have been behaving with courtesy, politeness, patience and extreme good humour.

There is only so much TP we can all store at home.

it’ll stop when everyone realises they have enough.

then it’ll all get mostly wasted food wise anyway

Yes, because telling everyone we are about to introduce rationing is just the ticket for preventing panic buying.

I sometimes like to think you are one day going to reveal how you were trolling us all along. I salute your long game sir.

Our Sainsbury's is moving to 8-8 opening hours from Monday.

Probably to help the store re-stock!

  27. Just seen an idea on social media that I think would sort this out straight away. Chain up the trolleys. Baskets only. Unless you are too physically infirm, in which case security staff can unlock a trolley for you.

Why don't the supermarkets just take postcode deliveries now, rather than individual orders?

Lets say there are 10 house with the same postcode. You get them to online order & their delivery slots are say either Tuesday 6pm & Friday 10am. They then have 10 orders & can just ring on the doorbells & dump the food outside their doors in one go. They could do a whole street in one go from there. Less pollution as making far less individual trips.

But....trying to think of the flaws in that though, what have I missed?

Can we not just chain up the panic buying morons outside the shops instead?

People would bring bolt cutters. You cannot stop the horde.

  31. I've heard Morrisons plan B if the hoarding didn't stop, or perhaps still is... making home deliveries standard boxes of necessary stuff - milk, bread, cheese, veg, fruit, toilet roll etc rather than customer selections.

Good idea in principle, but there's no food left to throw at them.

According to a friend of my wife people were queueing outside of Tesco this morning before 8am, considering it didn't open until 10. Why are there so many idiots?
I see pictures from various parks in London and other places in the UK were very busy, Boris gave the chance to be sensible with pubs, people couldn't, now I get going for a walk locally but why people got to choose the popular places to roll up to will only lead to more draconian measures being enforced upon us all.

    A lot better today.

Plenty of fruit a veg, Milk OJ. some meat, chilled goods. Looked like what it does on a friday afternoon.

Pasta, tinned, goods, medication, booze, tisues an loo roll empty.

I think it's calming down. People have horded a month or two's worth of non perishables and the regular fresh deliveries are coping.

Didn't stop some moron using the self checkout right next to me when there were six other ones free though.
