Quite a surprize, only 56. One of the few remixers universally recognised to improve tracks to be better than the originals. Takes me back to my uni days!
Yes this is very sad. RIP to a true innovator. Morning White Dove by One Dove is a tremendous album thanks to Andy Weatherall, and better than Screamadelica in my esteemed opinion.
XTRMNTR is the only Primal Scream album I've heard. It wasn't produced by Weatherall, but it's a brilliant album and one of my favourite recently discovered albums of this millennium, I must give it a re-listen this week. In particular Swastika Eyes is an awesome dance track that only the best of LCD Soundsystem can match.
A great talent and a lovely bloke by all accounts. I was nearly lucky enough to do some work with him back in the day but it wasn't to be. Rest easy, Guv'nor.
Good shout! A killer album, I will give it a listen myself this evening. However for your excellent 'Swastika Eyes' I raise you 'MBV Archestra (If They Move, Kill 'Em)'.
Funny, I've completely forgotten that track was from the same album, in fairness it must be over five years since I've listened to it. Won't be listening to the whole album tonight but will listening intently to that particular song to try to discern any connection with MBV (whose Loveless is one of my top 10 albums of all time).
ACKCHEWALLY thinking about "The Happy Mondays" they were always fantastically shyte 'performing' live.
