Not sure where to place this story, but Luis Suarez is having a great season for Zaragoza. He's now scored 14 goals in 21 matches. Developing nicely. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ord-striker-luis-suarez-target-real-zaragoza/
There's a thread about him in the Team Bus (where I've also uploaded all his goals this season) - http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/loaned-out-luis-suarez.56604/
Dahlberg started last night for Sweden in a friendly against Moldova (and kept a clean sheet in the process). Would like for him to start against Tranmere.
Under 23/Under 18s side lost 2-1 to Coventry. Cassidy scored. Under 18s are meant to be playing tomorrow too. Also the Under 23s had a game Monday too ofcouse. Busy week!
Seems somewhat strange that we agreed to play away at Tranmere on Tuesday, just two days after Bournemouth, means I think it’s highly unlikely any of the players that start Sunday will play Tuesday, due to logistics as much as anything else. The team would normally stay away the night before a first team game! So not much time for anyone involved on Sunday to wind down etc!
You don't think he could get back in 36hrs and be ready to play? He's a keeper after all. Plus Sweden's friendlies aren't even official (they're not in the recognised window to release players), so if Watford insisted they'd have to send Dahlberg back now. Not that I think we need to.
No I don't think we need to, just give Bachmann another game. I think it's more likely that Dahlberg will have the Monday off as he won't be back from Doha until the early hours. I'm assuming the squad will set off for Tranmere on Monday afternoon/evening.
I think we should play Gomes. He needs match practise. What if Foster gets injured? Gomes needs a run out and play whenever he can to keep his sharpness just in case he's called upon in the EPL.
An Under 18/some Under 23s lost 3-1 to Plymouth at St Albans.. Just didn't take their chances whereas the Pilgrims did including Joel Grant who certainly isn't under 23!! Ryan Cassidy was the best player and Jayden Bennett scored.
Looks like Filip Stuparevic is back. Played in a recent friendly for Udinese - might be off there on loan (although considering he didn't score in the Czech Republic that might be too high a level for him)? http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-y...tto-replacement-already-played-friendly-club/
Success, Dele and Quina all played for the Under 23s in a 4-1 win at Colchester. https://mobile.twitter.com/WatfordFC/status/1221846088832909314
Finished 3-3 with no big guns scoring! 3-1 down at half time got a 92nd min equaliser ! 10' Dalby S. 25' Aneke Charlton. 35' Morgan charlton 36' Green C. 40' (Penalty)Vennings J. charlton 90+2' Cassidy R.
I went and wasn't impressed by anyone in the 1st half. Some good individual moments by Joao Pedro but he rarely got the ball. Teddy Perkins reminded me of Phil Jones. He's not bad but not a stand out player. Seems comfortable on his left foot but not overly quick. I'm wondering if he's been bought so one of the other U23 centre backs is available to the first team for the rest of the season. Tom Dele-Bashiru was invisible in the 1st-half and his partnership with Callum Whelan just didn't work. 2nd-half they improved, especially as Tom D-B pushed further forward. Dalby showed how poor he is today. Yes he scored but compared to whoever the big #10 for Charlton was, he was poor. Cassidy looked a far better player when he came on. The best moments came when Kane Crichlow and Daniel Phillips came on. Both have had serious injuries but for the 15/20 minutes they had, they both looked very sharp. I really rate Phillips and was gutted he missed the chance to play against Tranmere. Physically he's a beast, skill wise very good but most of all he plays at a far higher tempo than anyone else for Watford at this level. One obvious thing regarding Joao Pedro - he's really struggling to communicate with teammates and gets easily frustrated. He's also easily wound up!
Erm, if Perkins is any bit as good as Phil Jones then his signing would have been quite a coup! Jones gets a lot of stick, largely due to his slightly clumsy playing style and poor injury record, but on his day he's a very good defender and with 27 England caps. Thanks for the writeup. Shame to hear about Dalby. Strange that JP seems to be finding it a bit trickier to adapt so far than Richie did - JP has supposedly been taking English lessons for a bit, while Richie didn't speak a word. Richie also in general seems more petulant, whereas my initial impression of JP was that he seemed more level headed.
Not knowing the lingo won't help either. Least Sarr has Capoue and Doucoure to help him out first team wise. Charlton number 10 was Chuks Aneke who has at MK Dons and just coming from injury. Person I heard from said Whelan looks good but might be too lightweight. Cassidy is the star but hope he hasn't burnt his bridges with the club.
Pedro himself said the main thing he’s struggling with is the cold. Says it’s hard to get used to breathing it in. Not many lads his age hit the ground running in a new country. I still think he’s going to become a very good player for us.
Thank you for the detailed report, which was both interesting and informative. Supporters need to be patient with João Pedro. He is two years younger than Richarlison was when he arrived and he will also need time to adjust to the climate. Richarlison arrived in the summer, but the colder weather in the winter may have been one of the factors which contributed to his dip in form (as well as the fact that he had no break when he changed leagues). Do you have any information about the situation relating to Ryan Cassidy? Does his contract finish at the end of the season and has he not signed a new contract? I read somewhere that he had an operation last summer and that is the reason why he was not playing earlier in the season, but he now seems to be regaining his form and has scored 3 goals in his last 4 games. Why is he always a substitute and not starting U-23 games if he looked a far better player than Dalby when he came on? Is this connected to Cassidy not signing a new contract or due to other issues?
I've no idea about any new contract for Cassidy. To me he looks sharper, quicker and a bit better, certainly no worse, than Dalby when holding the ball up.
He was offered one wasn't he but the agent or dad got in the way and suggested he could do better which caused a bit of a rift between player and club? Least the lad is getting back into the team even as a sub.
Under 23s won against Fulham 1-0. Cassidy with another goal - looked good again as well. Be a shame if he does go. Dalby seems to be not much more than a target man.
