Good to hear, though it might be too late and the list of those keen to come here will be more limited.
Funnily enough I was really impressed by the summer signings at the time. Dawson looked a good solid experienced British CB at a good price. Welbeck seemed a coup if he stayed fit. Sarr looked a great prospect and at a price which suggested we were really trying to make our mark. We held onto Doucs and GD. The only weakness seemed to be LB/RB and it was clear we'd tried to bring Rose in to cover the LB position. It's just suprising how quickly it's all unwound.

I agree. I was of the same mind. I wasn't too sure about Sarr, even before we signed him, especially for the price being quoted. But I thought Dawson would be good (got that one very wrong) and I am still amazed we signed Welbeck. So those two signings should have been a good start, but was nowhere near enough.

We needed two quality central defenders and at least one wing back, preferably on the left. I think the Rose attempt was a little bit cheeky on our part. I doubt we'd get him now, unless our form rapidly improves, although maybe a loan with a view to a permanent deal if we stay up could be done.

This is what I think we'll be looking to do. Get players in, on large loan fees, in the hope they'll come to us. No one of any quality (certainly not the quality we need) will sign permanently for a club fixed in the bottom three.

Yes I didn't really rate Rose anyway so wasn't too sad we didn't get that one over the line. When is the last time we had a really good RB or LB who could defend and attack ? Struggling to think of one recently. Cassetti ?

Danger is we spend big on defence in January and stlll get relegated.

Left with high earners who probably don't want to play in the Championship.

I think we'll be trying to sign quality loan players, with a view to make permanent if we stay up.....something along those lines.

We'll be stung on loan fees no doubt, but then we kinda deserve that really.

Good idea but how many are you allowed?

    2.3 I thought.

I think it's two. That's fine, one centre half and a left back, absolute priority is the left back. I noticed Danny Rose wasn't in the squad Saturday

2.3 players. Would the .3 be Danny Rose in this equation?

He's really not a great defender. I hope we don't spend a bucket load on him and then expect the defence to improve.

He barely played for them, hardly a minute. Whatever they paid in a loan fee and wages was a complete waste for them. He won't be coming here either.

Seems the rumours around Rodriguez coming in at LB are quite strong. But if we were in the market for a RB as well this month, I’ve just read Nathaniel Clyde has been made available by Liverpool. Would be a good signing.

Couldn't believe it on Transfer Talk on SSN just now. They started to talk about all the teams from 15th down over their transfer targets and what they need in order to stay up. Started with Burnley, then West Ham.....great I was thinking, it's us next, but no....the beautiful Jo Wilson said we'll skip over Watford and talk about them in another show, then they went on to talk about Villa, Bournemouth and Norwich. Just unbelievable.

Original thread on Slimani is locked - but seeing as we were once chasing him: the Geordies are mentioning that he's going out on loan to
    Aston Villa
    - it looks like we really dodged a bullet there...

Surely this is the 20 goal per season striker that has been secretively hiding away in the deepest depths of Leicester's books which @The Voice of Reason was trying to get at in the suggestions thread?

In which case, sign him up!

Just saw this under Brentford’s transfer stories

“Meanwhile, Brentford have opted not to pursue a move for Emre Mor after some initial interest in the Celta Vigo winger, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.”

I was genuinely shocked. It was only 2/3 seasons ago that Mor was being tipped as one of the next big things in football. Now at the young age of 22, he’s being “rejected” by Brentford in the championship.

Serious question, does anyone know what’s happened to his career?

I know this is the wrong place for this, but figured it would at least be seen as I’m honestly interested.

Had a browse on transfer market, as I remember his name.
He’s certainly dropped in price over the last few years only 72 rating on FIFA for what that’s worth. Maybe he will be a late developer.

It is his poor, unprofessional attitude.

A lot of young men, are not as mature as they think they are.

I believe he got distracted by his work transmitting TV across Yorkshire and the Pennines. It’s a shame because he got a good reception in those areas.

So I suppose that when when Brentford were asked "Mor, Mor, Mor, how do you like it? How do you like it?", they answered "not very much".

You can have all the talent in the world, but if the attitude isn't right, coaches will happily drop you. And when that happens, you'll plummet down the leagues.

A small list of the problems he's had:

    • Mor played at Lyngby on U17 and U19 levels before he was released by the club in January 2015.[9] The message from the club was that "the conclusion is that the talent can not be redeemed in Lyngby Boldklub".[9] In 2016, it was reported that he was released due to attitude problems.[10]
    • In a training session after a defeat against Bayern Munich in April 2017, Mor and his teammates were sent on a run by manager Thomas Tuchel and physical trainer Rainer Schrey. When Tuchel and Schrey instructed Mor to continue on for an extra round, Mor reportedly loudly protested, which prompted a fiery reaction from Tuchel. Earlier on the year, it was also reported that Dortmund were dissatisfied with Mor's attitude and willingness to integrate into the team
    • "Shut up, shut up, shut up!" - The reaction of Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel in a heated exchange with Mor regarding a training drill.
    • In April 2018, Mor was late for training before a home game against Sevilla after he had been excluded from the squad in two games. Unzué once again claimed, that Mor had to change his attitude before he again would be a part of the team.
    • In January 2019, Mor was once again excluded from training because of his attitude and for acts of indiscipline.[23] He was left out from the squad in the following eight league games and was excluded from the training for over one month.

    • "Emre has to understand that technical skill is not enough to earn him more playing time. There are no miracles or coincidences. Mentally, he needs to change." - Celta coach Juan Carlos Unzué explaining the lack of playing time being handed to Mor.

Thank you for this mate, I had no idea. Such a shame. He is still young so hopefully he will learn at some point if he wants to play at a high level again.

Definitely, time tends to be short for these sort of players and they really plummet, Ravel Morrison + Balotelli immediately spring to mind and I'm sure there's plenty of others that have wasted their careers (and I'm very surprised that Morrison has been given another shot at the PL). That being said Mor is 22 now and has only 28 starts to his name (and 68 games in total) which isn't a lot - he needs to settle and start getting regular game-time soon if he's to have a half-decent career.

Yeah that is true, at least Balotelli learnt, somewhat haha. Morrison totally wasted his career. I hope for Mor’s sake he figures it out. He really was a talented youngster. I know 22 is still young, but I do hope for his sake he sorts his football life out.
