It's perfectly possible to like or support another team particularly if you're living in their town at the time. I've done that for Narcch, Aberdeen and Hearts.

As long as you always know it's the mighty 'Orns when the chips are down. Like when I once attended a Hearts v 'Orns friendly up there.

Same, I lived in Nuremberg for a year and a bit, I went to quite a few matches. I can't say I supported them per se but I still look out for their results, they're a German yo-yo club.

Anyone who "follows" another team can do one, or at least keep their opinions to themselves. Unless you solely and faithfully follow watford, your opinions are totally irrelevant and you're as valid as a fan as a sky sports subscribing Man Utd fan.

Not sure where to include this or if it's been mentioned elsewhere but quique Setien who was linked to take over after flores has just been announced as the barca manager!

    Correct.

To "not mind" another team is the absolute limit of acceptability and even then, it's pushing it.

Personally I would only go as far as being ambivalent towards another team. I am ambivalent towards Leicester and Brighton.

I've tried watching other local teams once or twice. Gillingham, Oxford even Spam a couple of times with misguided comrades who supported them. Even in the middle of their fans, I couldn't have cared less if they won, lost or drew. Not the slightest, weeniest bit of concern.

Turned out on a freezing cold winter morning though to be the one and only horny hornet cheering on our gallant U-18s away at Gillingham though.

Do their supporters rally round when things aren't going so well?

What about teams abroad? There's a few I've been to watch on holiday (VVV Venlo, Partizan Belgrade, Kortrijk, Malmo, Borac Banja Luka) and sometimes watch their games online. I like them to win.

Obviously if they were playing when Watford are, I'd be watching Watford. I'd also hope Watford smash them if we ever played them in Europe.

I guess he has probably now given up hope of ever managing the horns. However a decent spell at Barca might put him back in contention for the next opportunity here ?

I think in modern times people tend to move around a bit more in student years, for jobs etc. So you may go and watch other teams, in different divisions, they wont be your "team" youd still look out for their result.

When they are in the same league you tend to not mind teams for various reasons I find its usually based on the fans not being arseholes and the team playing fair or being hardworking.

For teams Ive been to see Ill look out for the results for Aylesbury United, Colchester, Aberdeen, Lincoln, Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich
In the prem I dont mind Leicester that's probably because of Filbert and now Pearson.

I once watched a basketball match between the Knicks and the Heat. I booed both sides and wanted them both to lose. I hope both have subsequently gone out of business. During world cups, I delight when England get knocked out. Watford is my only mistress. No other.

I don't understand the attraction to basketball, I can't watch it for more than 3 minutes...'oh look they scored...oh look the other team scored...oh look they scored from a little further out...oh look the other team scored from just as far out' ...repeat ad nauseam.

    Yaaaaawwwwnnnn.

NHL and MLB are the only US sports I can watch...especially NHL - I love the speed and skill of the game, except my beloved NY Rangers aren't doing too well at the moment.

Basketball is the sport you only have to watch the last minute of; and then only if it’s a close game.
Some say Formula 1 is the sport you only have to watch the start of, but that’s actually speedway.

If I watch a match on the telly I always want one team or the other to win. Otherwise it's really, really boring.

I could switch allegiance during the match though especially if there's some sort of 'unfair incident' or other.

What about a non league team that are always destined to remain so? I’m thinking of going to see my local team Clapton FC, or at least their reincarnation.

Interesting team- formed in 1878, and the first British team to play in continental Europe.

I could walk there in less than 5 mins, I’m guessing the football will be crap.

My wife thinks I’m a bit weird as I do that too. I’ll shout out in support of a team ... and then a few weeks later be supporting their opposition!

normally I settle on supporting the underdog unless that is impossible (e.g. Luton, Leeds, etc.)

Not sorry. Me watching kids films is as important to our success as @StuBoy taking up residence in the khazi and @HappyHornet24 staying well clear of the ground.

I'm missing the Spurs game to watch Spies in Disguise. You'll all thank me in the end.

I've got StuBoy on mine. There's only so many ways you can describe having a **** during a football match.

It's time he moved on to other during game activities. Change it up a bit. Maybe a **** or a self-*******.

interestingly our two most useful members of the forum regarding results output have very different methods:

with those two and Suvesh cracking his coconuts it’s difficult to imagine when we will lose again...

I feel honoured. No one has ever said on here I’m on their ignore list before. Surely that puts me up there with some of our most prestigious posters. It’s only taken 10+ years.

As it happened I did move onto other in game activities after promotion. But it turned out we got sh**ter and sh**ter as time passed. Ironic that isn’t it?

You'll be pleased to hear I'm keeping up my end of the deal this weekend. Can't go to Spurs now. By the end of the season: Stu will have piles; I will have spent a not insignificant amount of money on a barely used season ticket; you will be a walking, talking encyclopaedia of children's films; and it will all be worth it as, thanks to our collective efforts, Watford will still be in the Premier League.
