Much nicer day forecast in Birkenhead tomorrow. Is a 24hr postponement possible?

Presumably this will be played over the fourth round weekend? Not entirely convinced that their pitch will be playable then though.

Match has been postponed. Common sense prevails for once.

That's worked out really well for us. Hopefully they won't rearrange for this week. Next week is out because we play Villa on Tuesday, so we'll probably have to play the replay on 4th round day.

The winner is due to be on BT Sport. Can't imagine they'll be happy about that.

Hope this doesn’t mean the Villa game will be postponed and we play the cup tie next week! Would be a shame as I believe we have the momentum to get something out of Villa!

It will be a massive piss take if that is the case as I already have my match ticket and a train ticket to Birmingham and booked the day off work.

Maybe the tie could be switched back to The Vic, there is no guarantee that their pitch is going to be ready next week in fact it could be in a worse state than it currently is. It is probably a positive thing for us as we will hopefully have a few players coming back from injury and it will give us a chance to give them some game time. The likelihood is it will be a slightly stronger team in the replay than it would have been tonight.

    Just let Tranmere go through...

... Or punish them for having a terrible pitch.

I believe league matches have been postponed in the football league for cup replays, not sure if Premier leagues games have, best thing would be for this game to be played on the 4th round weekend!

Just as well it's off, I'd already sat on the bog earlier this morning. So the odds weren't great for later this evening.

Dare I say, that's Tranmere's best chance of going through gone. Not to say they won't win, but we'll now be able to play a much stronger team if the replay takes place on 25th January, which looks like the most obvious date now.

We'll have those injured players back (Kiko, Hughes) plus Welbeck, Prodl should be available by then also. Could be perfect to have a Saturday game, which is not a Premier League match, to give those players on the comeback trail a run out.

Not idea but I'm guessing they'll just show that match on the rescheduled date, probably a midweek fixture.

I'm not sure about this, I wouldn't have thought BT Sport would wish to lose its dedicated slot on the Sunday.

    Time will tell.

Good Player safety and public safety comes before finances and any FA Cup pride.

I hope no fans began the jouney. I do feel mabe a netrual ground for the re arangement? Perhaps Moog's back garden?

At least there would be a better away attendance. I would go if it was a weekend fixture however I did not fancy tonight. Liverpool are away in the FA cup maybe the game could be played at Anfield. I can't see the pitch at Prenton Park being in any better condition in a week or so, Tranmere do not have the resources to fix the problem and the weather is not going to get much better.

They won’t change a PL game for a 3rd round replay.

Most likely that we will play the replay on 4th Round weekend if BT Sport can be appeased. Or try again tomorrow...

Absolutely. Financially it would be a much better gate for them on a Saturday. However, that can be offset as their chances of beating us will be dramatically reduced. I’d say they would have almost certainly beaten us tonight.

If they do lose the Saturday replay then they would have lost the bumper home tie against Wolves/Man Utd.

Yeah agreed they would have had a better opportunity to win but I still thought we were big favourites, even with a weaker team I was confident that we would get through comfortably.

The Tranmere players were trying to kid the officials that the pitch was playable, but the referee was having none of it.

I suppose the sensible thing is to play the replay on the day of the 4th round, and then the 4th round tie to be played on the date for the 4th round replay.
