I don't know how else I'm meant to judge any attacking player than looking at their goals and assists.

He has some flair it must be said, he seems to play on another level at times, to me, he's class.

Which comes back to my original point.

Gray, **** at football has 4 assists in his time with us. Pereyra has 5

His contribution has been average for a player in his position, hence why no big clubs have come in for him over the years

Out of all the players in our squad, this player is the one that's gone downhill the most the last 12 months or so to me. Become lazy beyond belief considering what he is capable of when he puts in the effort. Particularly without the ball. Dunno whats happened to him.

But how much xP and xPTO has Pereyra had compared to Gray.

    Whatever they mean.

The classic pozzo signing who unlike, say, Capoue or to an extent Gerry, they have been unable to extract his real talent out of for any length of time.

The reason we could buy a player like him from Juventus in the first place is because he is lazy and inconsistent. The pozzo model is based on being able to somehow get more out these type of players than has been possible previously.

It’s clear he is the one player who doesn’t buy into Pearson and isn’t at all bothered about fighting for the team/his place in the team.

Get rid, he has nothing to add to the team anymore.

Really split on him at the moment, one part of me would be perfectly happy to send him to Udinese in exchange for the Pussy Man, but on the other hand, he can still produce quality moments like today (and tbf he looked like he was up for it when he came on). Granted that goal wasn't the most important he'll score, but it could go down to goal difference, so you never know

He's not good enough for our first 11 now, as amazing as that seems. But he's too good to be sat on our bench so it's inevitable he'll be off in the summer.

He'll go with my best wishes and nothing but happy memories.

Anyone saying things like get rid, he has nothing to add to the team anymore, are clearly unaware that it is necessary to have more than 11 players in a squad.

Exactly. We are fans of the club but the way some are talking, you’d think they believe that playing for Watford should be the pinnacle of every players career.

We’re lucky to have a player of Pereyra’s ability - but more than that, he genuinely has bought into the club and never kicked up a fuss about being too big a player as similar players of his ilk might’ve. I’ll be sad to see him go when he does.

He’s not consistent, but the amazing thing is that we have an Argentine international of his quality who is not a certain starter for our first team.

I was thinking Pussetto is going to be Pereyra's replacement, but maybe bringing in a fellow countryman will convince him to want to stay? Just a thought.

I’m not convinced he’s a Pereyra replacement. I just think the club have decided it preferable to have another wide option who can play in a few spots, and through the middle if asked.

Given the article the other day, I’d say he will replace Success. I bet we’ve been open to a departure for him for a while but now might actively be trying to move him on. In reality, Success should want to leave given how stale his career is right now. Every manager we have had has overlooked him. Time to get what we can for him and both sides can move on.

Joao Pedro and Pussetto means there is absolutely no need for Success to remain now.

I reckon Bobby is just a bit short on pace. If he was a little quicker, mixed with his obvious technical ability, he’d be an absolute handful. Sometimes, it seems as though he’s just not quick enough over the first 5 yards to properly exploit his outstanding close control and consistently beat a man.

Well he is an idol there. He is a fan and it is his natural home. They will be selling a couple of their young stars like Quarta and Montiel so need to appease the ultras. If we sell him to the River Plate then ideally we should link Montiel with the deal. Money and Pereyra might be enough. Montiel is growing as a right back defensively and attacking wise.

What sort of budget will River Plate have to spend on Pereyra?

  22. Smudger

They have not got that much money to spend. Gallardo rarely spends big sums and his hand is limited anyway. He prefers to buy relatively cheap and bring in players from the B team usually all of whom are 20 or under. Players like Benjamin Rollheiser who there are high hopes for. If they get what they want for Quarta (Paulo Diaz his replacment I am sure was only around £3M) and Montiel then anything above £5-6M. But it depends on sales. If they fail to sell for what they want and they are much more savvy than before they will try and get that figure lower despite the fact he has still one year left with us. It's clear Pereyra does not want to be here but there. I would sell Pereyra but ask for Montiel in exchange and also offer £7-8M for a highly promising right back which is somewhere where we have to improve rapidly.

I like it when South American players go back to play for their big clubs at home. From this distance it's hard to reconcile their huge support with their lack of funds relative to what we're used to in Europe.
On Pereyra specifically, it's been great to see such a skilled player in a Watford shirt but he hasn't performed consistently over his whole stay so I shall be happy to see him go and wish him well, particularly if we can get something positive out of the deal.

Throw in Pereyra and some money and hope for the best. As I said before it is more economical to sign from Argentina than Brazil. The economics of Brazilian football is stronger and their agent representation is better in Europe. Nicolas Dominguez had a super game for Bologna against Internazionale who somehow conspired to lose to ten men. Should have had a punt on him last summer.

The club might accept an offer from us, but it seems they'll also accept offers from more prestigious clubs as well, in which case we've not got a chance.

Is he though? Was good for them in the past, didn't quite make it at Juve, then 4 years here where his stock has probably dropped a little. Plus, it would be a good way for the Pozzos to keep their famously Watford-loving fans onside
