He is our only real quality option who can step in if Sarr or Delefeou get injured. We need to keep until the summer, unless there is a better option that we can bring-in this window which I very much doubt
Well he gave us baby shark and then he showed his love for the club last Saturday when he displayed so little interest in playing for us that he ****ed off down the tunnel without protesting replace with somebody with 80% of the talent but 100% commitment
Yes. Let's forget the love he shows for his teammates on social media. And the clips of him givings kit to disabled/less fortunate fans. And his celebrations with fans - all because he walked off the pitch in the 96th minute after being sent-off. Given the card was overturned, he could have just walked off in disgust at the decision - too many players throw their arms about in protest at a red card when its deserved in reality. So little interest in playing for us? He scored.
18 year old kid we know very little about and may not be physically, mentally or technically ready to be thrown into Premier League football in any meaningful way.
Give him his due - He's said in the summer. If he was throwing the toys out there would be a transfer request in now to go in January. Perhaps he's thoroughly enjoyed his time here and is holding out till Summer as he wants to help the club if needed? Granted looked half arsed in the second half vs Tranmere, but he hasn't been getting a look in recently.
If he wants to move in the summer he should be motivated to do well for the rest of the season, and put himself in the shop window.
Would we have noticed if he had already left? Has zero impact on any game. Would rather have Big Ken back, at least he looked busy
Leventhal has spoken via The Athletic... No deal or agreement in place for Pereyra to leave now or in the summer. Club are surprised by his comments. He has ‘3 years’ left on his deal - which is the rest of this season, next season and the club retains the option for a further 12 months.
My earlier assumption of his current deal expiring in 2021 was correct, so he does have only 18 months remaining on his contract. AL inferred that there maybe an option for the club to extend by a further year, making it 2.5 years.....still not 3 years though. I think for the good of the club, these comments should be brushed under the carpet for now. It's probably best he leaves in the summer, but for the rest of this season, he has to knuckle down and really show his worth. I think he's been excellent at times and if he's trying to be in the shop window, then his performance levels are bound to improve, which can only be of benefit to Watford.
Well Pereyra himself, on video, said he had 3 years left. And lastly, hence why I put 3 years in inverted comma’s - because it’s no longer that length obviously due to us being part way through a season.
Yes, that's why I referred to it and he's clearly not correct about the length of contract he still has at the club. I thought he may has signed an extended deal that was not reported, but that's clearly not the case.
Eh? You’re aware what inverted comma’s mean right? I made a comment about The Athletic article. None of it is a suggestion that I know anything about the players deal, more just about how it’s likely interpreted. It’s you who said a player is incorrect about the details of his own working contract, that is worth a lot of money and that your opinion on it is more accurate.
A deliberate attempt to start something? Bored tonight are you? I was referring also to the Athletic article as you well know. Pereyra said he had 3 years on his contract and The Athletic said it ended in 2021 with a possible 1 year extension, which I quoted. Stop being so obtuse.
Obtuse? You literally replied back to me saying Pereyra was wrong about the details of his own contract. To clear things up from my side - what I meant was that the player has said he has 3 years left. Contracts don’t end in Dec/Jan so it’s clear he means 2.5yrs. The fact the player himself has said that it’s 3 years makes you think that it’s the club that holds the option of another year - which they would certainly enact over losing the player for free. I absolutely was not ‘trying to start something’ - I believed the same of you and it’s clearly just crossed wires over nothing.
Some strange reactions to his comments. I didn't go to the Tranmere game but looked reasonably pleased to score his goal and what's the problem with him going down the tunnel after he was sent off? That's what he's supposed to do. He's now been honest and said he wants a new challenge in the summer which is absolutely fine, no problem with that at all. He doesn't state he will down tools for the rest of the season and I really don't see why we should sell him now. He may be frustrating to watch but he has abilities that not many others have and will be important in our fight to stay in this division. Good luck to him when he leaves
I understand most of the views expressed on RP. However long he remains with us I hope we see the best of him on a consistent basis. He has such ability but it is displayed fleetingly.
I remember seeing a video on twitter of him meeting one of our fans who had down's syndrome after one of our matches a while ago. He was so friendly and must have made that kids day (probably his whole year!). It damn near moved me to tears. Only a short clip, but it showed the measure of the man.
He's pretty average. People like him though as he's easy to watch For perspective he's equal with Gray in goal contributions, having made more appearances
And this folk is why people who have never played football should be very wary about commenting on it.
