Hot off the press. No links for this one, but it's just been reported on SSN that we want to sign Joe Bryan from Fulham. Left back and has played 27 times this season.
A good prospect if a little short of height. It doesn't stop a full back being good, but it's a vulnerability against the lofted ball to the likes of Chris Woods etc
21 starts and 1 sub appearance. 1 assist, 5 yellows. He was indeed highly rated while at Bristol City, but he didn't seem that great whenever I saw him in the Prem. Hard to tell how much of that was due to Fulham overall being pretty rubbish though. He did get an achilles injury which saw him miss almost 2 months and at least 7 games from mid-September, which also couldn't have helped. He claimed he struggled with homesickness as well initially after having left his hometown club and also problems from breaking up with his long-term gf at the same time: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/former-bristol-city-defender-joe-3421748 However, Whoscored now have him down as Fulham's 2nd highest rated player this season just behind Mitrovic, so perhaps he's turned a corner, adjusted to life in the London area, and found some form for them. In terms of profile and attainability he seems to be a fair match for us.
Supposedly he's won 2.1 aerial duels this season in the Championship, which is pretty decent for a full-back. Maybe he has a good leap on him?
We should keep an open mind. Just because he’s got an odd-sounding name for a footballer doesn’t mean he isn’t good. If anyone finds it a problem we could give him an easier nickname, like Xavier or Joaquim.
On paper this would be a reasonable signing. Hopefully a low fee, decent age, homegrown and already proven himself in the Championship if we do go down.
Sounds like he has also played further up the pitch as an attacking winger too, including their game vs Villa recently.
From Sky, wont be cheap if Fulham paid £6m for him! WATFORD TARGET BRYAN Watford are considering a bid for Fulham's left back Joe Bryan. Nigel Pearson's number one target this month is a centre-back, with injuries to Sebastian Prodl and Craig Cathcart, but he is also keen on bolstering his full-back options. The Hornets have watched Bryan on numerous occasions over the past two months. The former Bristol City defender, who moved to West London for £6m 18 months ago, has made 27 appearances for Fulham this campaign.
Perhaps unsurprisingly it appears that my salmon joke is most popular amongst cold climate woodland animals. Do we not also have 'Bear' 'Beaver' and, 'Mink' on this forum somewhere?
Couldn't get much more of a mixed bag of comments from the Fulham forum... https://www.friendsoffulham.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=gnvjfipg2nvjtn2m5kvd5v38q5&topic=74103.0
Happy to see the words "consistent performer" in there. We just need someone steady, injury-free and who doesn't make errors every match.
He was very good at Bristol City. I wanted us to sign him back then. However he went to Fulham and he was poo in the games I saw. However Fulham were rubbish in general so it’s difficult to judge him. I think this good be a shrewd piece of business if it’s cheap enough. Anything under £10mil is good business. Working under Pearson I think we would see his Bristol City form return.
Didn't really impress me shani saw him ast season. But then all off their defence looked poor. What's his attributes?
Well according to the latest Athletic podcast, we aren’t in the market for any FB’s because Janmaat is back soon and the club are impressed with Femenia’s recent form. When asked about other area’s, they said Watford fans shouldn’t expect much and will only stretch to a CB if they can find one that they believe is a marked improvement on Cathcart and Kabasele. Ridiculous if true.
Well I for one am glad that we can rely on Mr Glass Janmaat and Kiko WeakHamstrings to play every game after the window slams shut.
Strong chance of this happening I'd say. Has looked fairly decent in the Champ this season but it's a big step up. Any defensive cover we get though is a bonus.
