Reported that Pearson wants to send him on loan as per The Athletic. Concerns that he’s not physically strong enough to be a regular.
Sorry not to have seen him playing more but I'll back Nige's judgement. Maybe other clubs have got better fitness people.
I know someone who works in football recruitment for a Championship team and he said they tried to get him on a permanent in the summer (we obvs said no), they then tried a loan which we also rebuffed. He also said that on their transfer tool (which clubs can use to see the availability of players - think Football Manager in real life) it now has Quina available for a loan so the article is indeed correct.
They've probably forgotten Zeegelaar exists. A bit like Ross Jenkins (the 2nd) who is probably still on the payroll somehow.
A loan our for regular first team football at a top end championship club sounds ideal. Wonder why West Ham never did that? Always a bit weird how he left them. Thought it was to get more chances but isn't really getting any here.
Cool. So are there no decent PL players shown on there as being available who could be of use to us? Or are you not allowed to disclose?
If he isn't physically strong enough then the Championship is the last place to send him off on loan to.
He's more than strong enough, he flattened Tranmere's midfield on Saturday. His issue is that he's completely Okakared by 60 mins and needs to go off
Under three separate managers so far as well. I think he will come good, but some time away on loan seems to make sense.
I've got a feeling this summer we may finally see Doucoure leave us (I hope not but he's going to go at some point), which means there would be more gametime available for young Domingos. A loan definitely seems a good option for the remainder of this season. Half a season in the rough and tumble of the Championship would certainly give him a chance to prove to Pearson that he has the physicality needed. Given his quality I'd imagine he could almost have his pick of teams...
He’s mustard. Too good for some Championship cloggers and questioning his robustness looks silly from his appearances so far. He loves a crunching tackle!
Loan him out and he'll get injured. Personally I'd like to see him break into the 1st team this season. I think he's good enough. Especially as Chalobah Hughes & Cleverly are injury worries and there are rumours of Doucore moving on.
Cleverley Doucoure Doucore sounds like the latest music craze to come from the suburbs of Paris, France.
You think Quina would be the one to replace Doucoure? Cleverley and Chalobah seem more like ‘Pearson’ players to me than Quina.
With the predicament we are in I am surprised we are considering sending anybody out on loan at the moment unless they are taking up a squad place and we are planning on bringing in somebody more productive. Quina doesn’t have the required fitness but he does have 2 legs and isn’t injured
Will never make it in the Premier League and in a few years time people will look him up and find him on the bench at some crap club and people will wonder why he was so over hyped by our fans.
I don't think he'd be a like for like replacement (as you've said I think Chalobah would be more likely based on recent events). But Quina could be part of the midfield group and therefore getting more game time. I like Cleverley but his recent injury record doesn't bode well. Quina certainly has the technique & skill, and to be honest he's seemed a pretty hard working player whenever I've seen him. I wouldn't say he's necessarily not a Pearson player. However his lack of match fitness was a big problem in his recent game (the worst I've seen him play), and obviously hasn't endeared him to Big Nige so he's going to have to go and prove himself elsewhere on loan.
Yep. He's been dining off his goal v Reading for 18 months now and has done bugger all since. And some people on here think if doucoure leaves he's a ready made replacement LOL
Send him to a team like Fulham - on the promise that he gets game time - He is one to consider for next season not this.
Hopefully Pearson was just giving him a kick up the backside rather than implying that he isn't in his plans at the moment, was excellent last season when he got the chance
I think that would be a good move for him, assuming he gets himself a run of games between now and the end of the season. They play decent football, and he’d be joining a club who are having a good season. He’s clearly a player with lots of potential, consistent football at a competitive level should only benefit him.
Of course. I’d not made that link. Agreed, Bilic already having worked with him, and wanting to sign him again is a positive thing.
