Wasn't a load of cash for EFL clubs tied up in the deal? I'd have to look back but I think the PL/FA basically told clubs to accept EPPP or they'd cut off the subsidy to EFL clubs. There was protest but ultimately club voted with their wallets.
One could argue that if Success is due a 5 year deal, this guy should get 15 at least. The point I was making was that this completely supports the fact that he is seen as a first team player in the near future unlike most of the other young players added to the U23 squad in recent weeks. Have we ever given out a 6 year deal to any player before ? Particularly one who has only made 1(?) senior appearance for any team ever ?
6 years no. Sinclair got 5 and that was bad enough. It’s mad to think when he comes back from Holland at the end of the season to come - he will still have a year left of his deal! What an absolute waste of money.
I thought those 5 year deals were a thing of the past until this was meted out. The majority of the incoming youngsters bought this season have signed 1 year deals, with only Chrichlow (2yrs), Dalby (2yrs with 1yr option) and Al Warren Tameghi (3yrs - if it actually happened!) signing anything longer. Even the deals offered to existing players Daniel Phillips & Jayden Bennetts were for 2 & 1 years respectively (I think). Nothing has appeared anywhere I can find suggests they've signed either. (And where exactly is Ryan Cassidy these days?)
They could sort it very simply in a way that wouldn't grant massive compensation up front, but instituting a mandatory sell-on fee of 50% for the first move and say 20% for a second move. In a scenario like that Watford wouldn't necessarily have got rich from a Jadon Sancho, but would have received enough monies to fund the academy.
That is admittedly better than the current situation but it still puts the issue of compensation in the control of the poaching club. What if the player is successful and isn't sold?
We only give 5 year deals to geriatric squad members, usually. Has anyone seen this guys birth certificate?
The Official site are saying this guy is the 2nd 1st team signing of this window along with Dawson. If that is right we are looking at him as a regular member of our 1st team pool of players, although he will not actually have to be named in our 25 man squad as he is under 21.
They're spinning it because they know fans are frustrated with another underwhelming transfer window so far. He's potentially got Doucoure, Capoue, Chalobah, Cleverley and even Quina and Hughes in front of him.
Alternatively Doucoure, Capoue, Chalobah, Cleverley and even Quina and Hughes could have him in front of them...
Well, he has fewer repaired ligaments than Cleverley... and Chalobah.. and IIRC Doucoure for that matter...
They say to beat the to teams you hav twas o pack the middle. Maybe Javi’s strategy is to field 1-8-1 formation . I fully expect to see another 3 or 4 CMs to be signed before window closes .
Few clubs hoping to get him on loan according to SSN. Zulte Waregem were one they mentioned - were a few other foreign sides too.
Same club that Oulare went to, I'm sure those are footsteps that Dele-Bashiru will be eager to follow.
The guy who we all thought was brought in ready to step in Doucoure's shoes when he was expected to leave last summer.
Well he certainly needs first team football and at the moment he is nowhere near Capoue or Doucoure. Pereyra, Quina and Chalobah can slot in there and despite the injuries to Hughes and Cleverley he's been judged too raw to be thrown in. He's certainly one to keep an eye on. He has ability and potential but players his age need to play. Question is will get to play there either ? Sarr's compatriot Seck and Omar Govea occupy his role and I don't think he will displace them in any capacity.
Looked excellent in that first half against Tranmere, second half a different story, but I won't hold it against him as he was faced with a bizarre situation of him having to mentor an even less experienced player. I suppose he'll be playing in the replay, hopefully we can push up the table and he can knock on the door in the league too
