Doucoure used to bang worldies in for fun, now he looks like he’s actually trying to deliberately get the ball out of the stadium every time he shoots.

Deulofeu getting lauded on Twitter yet I thought he was possibly our worst player. I hate him.

Literally our only hope is that Pedro is some sort of instant revelation or we go and splash some money in January on a proven goalscorer, because relying on Deeney and Gray is something I'd laugh at in the Championship, let alone in this league. Both horrendous.

  4. GoingDown

Hope that keeps his value high for January.

We won't remotely get close to avoiding relegation with this **** and Doucoure in the team.

Poor finishing undermined a great overall team performance. Harsh lesson and defeat to take but I'm more optimistic of our future after seeing a performance like to away to the best team in the league.

Looks like Nigel took all the pressure off the team today with no expectations of a result, just to go out and play. Good performances by Hughes, Mapps and Kabasele.

Need to carry it forward into the upcoming winnable games. United blow hot and cold so we could give them a game next week.

Need to pick up points over Christmas vs Sheff Utd, Wolves, Villa.

Could anyone see us doing as well with the last manager as we have done today NO.
A much improved performance from our last few visits, at least with Nigel we are going to make a fist of it!

We didn’t get smashed which is a positive to take from the game but we are at the stage of actually making the positives from all the defeats count. I’m just as pissed off with this defeat as the others we need wins.
Deulofeu still not doing enough he bottles every challenge and header if he can’t head a ball he shouldn’t be on the pitch. He gives an illusion of being a dangerous attacking threat when realistically he is a completely luxury player.
The misses are getting ridiculous now and it sums it all up when we fluff our lines multiple times and the 1 time Liverpool do it, it falls straight to Salah who scores a worldie.
I think we will give Utd a good game but I’d much rather play **** and win. Winning is what’s going to keep us up not taking positives out of a game for playing well.

He's so irritating and short with sh*t hair. Bowls around like he's Messi.

At one point just decided to stop chasing Henderson. Just an utter, utter ****.

Good player when he wants to be and has the potential to win us game but I just can't stand looking at him on the pitch tbh.

Doucoure was abysmal. Neither Deulofeu or Sarr were great, but they did at least create some threats.

Hard to choose between players like Deulofeu who looks flashy and does the odd nice trick or touch, but spends 90% of the time giving the ball away and strolling around, or Deeney who literally just doesn't do anything to affect the game whatsoever, or Doucoure who honestly just needs to be put down at this point.

It's very easy not to miss easy chances when you spend half the match either chasing shadows and acting like a lamppost.

I’m praying Pedro is going to be our goal scoring hero from Jan onwards. I can’t see the pozzos finding anyone else with the quality we need within their budget who’d actually want to come here.

It's happened with every team he's been at. He clearly gets a bit bored.

We'll probably look at him in the same loving way Everton fans do in a few years after he leaves. I won't. One trick pony.

We’ve not done it once since our first season when we beat Liverpool but they weren’t the force they are now.

Since then we’ve been beaten before we’ve started against the big two, inevitably rolling over and getting completely mauled without exception. It’s only his first game but one thing you know about Pearson is that he isn’t going to accept the team assuming a loss against anybody.

  15. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Agreed. That's why I blame him. He was either putting them off or paying them to miss.

    Either way, Deeney's fault. Always.

Apart from the usual complete lack of finishing...

Hughes played very well, and it's a long time since we've been able to say that. The role suited him and I'd be happy for him to play there again next week.

Kabasele was very impressive and managed not to give away a penalty or get sent off.

Overall the confidence of the team seemed to be improved and it really was a pretty good performance.

I like the formation, the line up, the beginnings of a style of play that we can see emerging.

But it's all for nowt if we scuff or sky every chance we create for ourselves!

That is the toughest fixture of the year. United at home next, and it's a real chance to bounce back. We. Go. Again.

Only caught the last 20 mins, we looked slightly transformed and Kiko looked like he remembered how to play football, but it's genuinely ******* Doucoureannoying watching shape to shoot like he's about to limbo and consequently blootering it straight over the bar for a conversion every single bloody time. Head over the ball you ****wit, how hard is it really?!

We need a goalscorer, or at least a hit-the-ball-cleanly-in-the-direction-of-the-goaler, in the door on Jan 1st to have any chance at all. Not wheeling and dealing on the last day of the window and not pretending that a child who had about 5 good games in the Brazilian Serie A is going to be our saviour. That's the real test of Gino's desire to survive.

That was a far, far better performance than I had expected from us and am surprisingly dissapointed that we didn't come away with anything. Our main problems of finishing chances, set piece wastefulness and basic passing were still evident and were why we lost today, but that was a far more resilient and industrious Watford side who didn't lie down and take it like they have done previously.

We are still a long way from safety and we canot continue missing these easy chances as we are and will be punished, but based on that in Pearson we trust.

Watford cannot afford a PL quality ‘Proven’ goal scorer. Else everyone would buy one.

Sadly we have to take a punt on almost every season. My honest opinion is we have to hope Deulofeu or Sarr turn into some sort of hotshot in front of goal - I can’t see it. Or that Joao Pedro is a wonderkid who is lethal. Again, dubious.

We absolutely have to sign a striker, either permanently or on loan, in January irrespective of Pedro arriving.

Deulofeu was also dreadful today agreed, but at least he's done some, very rare things to justify his continued selection, unlike our number 9.

I thought Doucoure was actually a bit better today than recent weeks. Still below par and should have scored, but he made things happen at least.

We were punished by leaving only one man back for our set-piece, which is just suicide when playing a team as quick on the counter as Liverpool. Have to wonder if that was actually just naive coaching. It almost happened again a few minutes after the goal. We appeared to learn from it and rectify it at least in the second half.

Good performances from Kabs, Cathcart, Foster, Femenia and Capoue.

Funny when Watford always post clips of our players scoring pin point accurate rockets in training, yet in 90 minutes, two separate players manage to kick the ball like they’ve been given to opportunity to play a Premier League game through the make a wish foundation.

Apart from that, I’m so happy with the way we played today. Kabs, Capoue, Hughesy and even an out of position Kiko put in a good performance today against one of the best teams in the world. Finishing is crap but the chances created is positive.

Gray is poor for Watford. He might be good at other teams but he really really doesn’t gel with our team. Regardless as to whether we’re playing to his strengths, he’s played under 4 managers for us and has put nothing more than the odd few “Good” games. I like him, but he’s consistently miss-passing, miss-timing and more importantly, missing chances to score.. That said, maybe Pearson can find a play style that suits him. Otherwise, we’ll really need that Joao Pedro to step up to the challenge

Not PL proven, but your suggestion (if I recall correctly) of Maupay looks as if he would have been a good shout.

(your other suggestion of Che Adams though is, as I thought, looking a dreadful flop)

I didn’t think Doucoure was as bad as same are making out on here.

Two awful finishes yes but some great body movement to open up the midfield numerous times. Good touches, great nutmeg on Ox.

He wasn’t great but he certainly wasn’t awful and at least he’s always trying.

Feels a little odd and obsessive to have that rant about Gray today when he didn't play for very long and other players missed even easier chances than he ususlly does.

I missed as many easy chances as Deeney today, and had as many touches in the opposition box as him. I think I deserve to share his MotM award with him.

Apart from the obvious I was really impressed with you today. That's what you get from a Nigel Pearson side. Workrate, hard to break down and good on the counter. Just needs to add some of his own players

    Kabasele was superb in particular

The point is that Deeney does nothing. Absolutely nothing. Other players may miss chances but Deeney doesn't even put himself in a position to miss.

Doesn't score, doesn't get in positions to score, doesn't get involved in the play, doesn't give the opposition defence anything to worry about.

Has he even had a shot in the past two games?
