It's only to be expected that a youngsters form can be indifferent. It's plainly obvious that the lad has talent whether he can show top form immediately time will tell. But what's the point of criticism already? His club is or was in turmoil and frankly we used them to our advantage. As soon as all the paperwork was in place they didn't need to force the issue of him playing and I can understand why they've dropped him. His mind is already focused on his new club and I can't wait to see him in a Watford shirt. Let's be honest he is going to be a better option than the clown Gray. His Contribution was embarrassing as always yesterday. The sooner he's gone the better.

I'm not criticising JP. Just referring to his extreme fall from grace at Fluminense. It mirrors Success and Peneranda who both had flying starts in la Liga and then fell away. Just hoping JP is different. You're right he has amazing talent, lets hope he doesnt throw it away.

All things being equal I honestly think it is very personally difficult to do your utmost in a role you are bound to be leaving. You can try, but it is not the same as being a full member of the team. Unconsciously, it has to affect things.

Similarly, it is also very difficult for team mates and fans to be convinced that you are doing your utmost, as unconsciously, there is that element of doubt, which gets demonstrated in the behaviour shown to the person leaving.

Those two elements together perpetuate the problem and make it even tougher to get past.

I wouldn't put too much into Pedro's drop off, I think it is human nature, and very difficult to overcome, particularly for someone so young.

The new Joao Pedro (top goalscorer in the Brazilian U20 league) made his first start for Fluminese last night and bagged 2 goals, stick in a cheeky bid Gino.

He's bought the wrong Joao Pedro! Classic Gino.

You had me a bit confused for a minute there - "the new Joao Pedro" is rather called Evanilson. He shows some good finishes, but tbh from the clips I've watched of him he looks a tad chunky and not especially quick - his appearance and style in fact looks remarkably similar to Cucho.

Back to the subject of "the original Joao Pedro" (or actually perhaps the second, given Fluminense's other good, young striker prospect 22 year-old 'Pedro'), the news is that he will already travel to us next week:

    https://globoesporte.globo.com/fute...para-sao-paulo-e-da-adeus-ao-fluminense.ghtml

Don't suppose he'll be able to play for us yet until the Jan transfer window opens? But at least he should be raring to go by that time.

Evandro really is another tubby Deeney/R9 in the making/not too distant future. Only 20, yet he's already spent most his career looking like this:

Sorry, should've put his name down! The other Pedro left over the summer so ours is the only Pedro left. He can train with us I think but can't play in any games until the 1st.

I hadn't noticed that - a deal late in the window for a similar fee to the one we landed our JP for. 3 months in and he only just managed his first appearance for Fiorentina in the league off the bench this weekend, not a good sign or him - here's hoping our JP fares a bit better.

A Fat Joao Pedro / Thin Joao Pedro strike-force would be the stuff of legend. All is forgiven if Gino makes it happen.

The "fat Joao Pedro" is actually named Evandro.

The two former Fluminense strikers with Pedro in their name are currently both slim, so either our one or Fiorentina's one are going to have to go on the Deeney diet for a season or two.

I suppose that will be easier for our one as he'll be training alongside Deeney soon and can follow his example. Then, once he's porked up a bit, we can go for the other one - he's currently bombing at Fiorentina anyway so they could be open to offers in future.

I think it will be later - I don't think they are allowing new registrations to play before the cup weekend (4th ) so my guess is 11th

But he won't be ready earlier anyway - they need to get Prodl kicking him up in the air to prepare him for the League

    The latest from The Athletic

Pedro arrives on Wednesday and will begin training with the first team. He'll be able to play on 1st January, if selected, in the New Years Day match against Wolves.

John Eustace and Kevin Phillips are being considered for coaching roles as well.

Good I hope KP can teach Gray the green shoots of scoring an easy chance again.

Not a chance. You have to have ability and he is severely lacking in that which sadly you cannot coach. I’m interested in how Phillips and Eustace are getting on as coaches

Would be very happy with either but would prefer both. Both know the club well which can only be beneficial IMO.

Absolutely. I don’t think it’s either or, it’s probably both we’re looking to get and both are club legends, which can only be a good thing.

Some may have to get over the playoff thing with Super Kev though.

TBH I reckon that KP could still do better than any of our main forwards right now.

    Player/coach?

    How old is he?

I’ve read a couple of things over the last year or so that have spoken highly of John Eustace as a coach. I’d be happy with him coming in. One of my favorite players during the time he spent here and provided the sort of leadership we’re sorely lacking at the minute.

They deserved it more than us that day. It may of come a week after THAT GOAL, but our peformance was poor It was a certain penalty too. We would have never experienced the absolute thrill of losing our first major trophy at home in injury time against Sheff Wed otherwise.

Never blames Phillips for that day. He was doing his job and we were utter bobbins. If he's a good coach, that's the bit I don't know, I would welcome him back

I wouldn't have Phillips as a 'club legend', but yeah, there's no reason to have any issue with him over the play off final penalty.

3 years, 59 appearances and 24 goals qualifies someone as a club legend?

Danny Graham was here for 2 years, 91 appearances and 38 goals (and table tennis champion) - I see him more as a legend than Phillips - plus the celebration for the equaliser against Todgers at Reading - he knew how much it meant for the fans, so instant legendary status.

Well it was a grim time to support the club but basically he was a striker who scored goals and moved on at the first decent opportunity for what even then was a modest price. I'd say did him more of a favour than he did us. And up until the interviews last week, when he suddenly seemed very keen on Watford again, he's not exactly been too bothered about us over the years.

People call Connolly a SGB and for years, still held KP in high regard, though Connolly had every right to move to Feyenoord after the club offered him a derisory contract, thinking that if he turned it down, they would get 7 figures from Wolves. They didn't know that Connolly had the chance to move overseas, to a Champions League club and become a millionaire overnight, when they tried to get him to sign their pitiful contract. More fool them.
