Should Chalobah be converted to a CB?

It seems that his diminished pace makes him unsuited for the midfield, but his passing would be an asset on the back line. Is this worth a go given our issues at the back?

Did you see his lack of defensive awareness and reaction for the first goal on Saturday?

One of the worst takes I've ever seen on here, and that's saying something. He seems unsuited to being a PL footballer, full stop, and I suspect he'd also be no great shakes in the Championship either.

    Also, this.

Yes, but that was somewhat atypical for him. He'd just come on and I think that the team's overall tactical awareness has been lacking. Regardless of who is where, the new manager needs to ensure that the players communicate with one another better and know their jobs. It's rather tragic that we're saying that about professionals - and this deep into the season, but we are where we are.

I'd like to see him converted to Sharon in the office's role after she's sacked for post-it note thievery.

He was ace now is utter shyt. There's really nothing else to be said about the matter.

I'm not convinced, but it's worth a try. I'd love to see him salvage his career.

I hate to say it but I have to agree with the majority. The injury has played havoc with him. I so want to be wrong about this because he was such a fantastic player for us and seems like a really top fella.

Chalobah centre back, Deeney player manager - it's only Tuesday, some of you need to lay off the glue.

Pretty sure Chalobah played as a Center Back as a youth player. This suggestion isn't as bad as some are making it out to be imo.

He did. I remember Zola getting absolutely lambasted on the shoutbox when he was brought on for his toward the end of a game we were drawing/losing because people assumed he’d was a defender, and not the thunderbastard scoring, midfield dominating, sensational passing player we came to know, and thought we were signing.

None of this matters mind, because sadly, he’s completely broken.

I think the freak injury he had was a massive knock to him psychologically. He is still a talent and their is the old Chalobah in there somewhere.
If you were involved in what was almost a career ending injury I think it would play on everyone's mind. It's not a footballing problem for him,
he is terrified of going in for a challenge, because there is a chance it could happen again. I understand this predicament if this is the reason.

But therein lies the problem. Football is a contact sport. He is going to get hurt from time to time, but most of the time tackles are not career
ending, I believe moving him into a defensive role would do more harm than good for what could already be a pretty damaged psyche.

I remember a time when u could leave a box of post it notes on your desk, go out for a 3 hour lunch break, sink 3 beers, get a cheeky 'massage' on the way back to the office and still be 100% sure not one of your post it notes would b missing when you got back!

He bottles out of every tackle now so putting him in a position where tackling is the whole point would be a disaster

Catch 22 though, if he does not get back to his previous levels it will be career ending.
He was great before the injury, I really hope he can get close to that level again, but has some work to do to improve from his recent showings. I thought he was good at Spurs but other than that game has not been good enough.

Love the guy but he's completely shot. We do not have a place for a player not only doesn't look like he recovered physically but seems mentally frail as if he is doubting every movement he makes and seems afraid of body his body under too much strain. Doesn't even seem to be able to turn quickly for fear of injury any more.

And he is far too lightweight and doesn't seem like the type to win too many headers in the air .

I have said this many times. Chalobah is finished. Grrwood has it spot on.
He doesn't want to get hurt. He is just treading water on the pitch.
    His career is over..
