If it's Hughes it's sums up the stewardship over the last season and a half. He is utter crap.
You telling me we couldn't afford Johnson or someone employed doing a half decent job in the league's below ?
The Pozzos are starting to look like the local Toffs who should be shopping in M&S but secretly shop at Iceland and then complain about the quality of the food. It's too expensive bla bla....
Their plan was to get us in the Prem. did they really think they could do it on a cheap? Looks to me like they are creaming some off the top

Well doesn't seem to work for us with the waving of arms and moaning - we'd have even less chance of getting anything .

Mind you the officials would at least understand him!

Thing is, and I’m equally as full of dread with the idea, that if it’s true that Giraldi/Gino have garnered the players opinions and they want British - when you add that to a short-term contract and PL experience, it’s a very shallow pool to choose from if they want someone who will match all criteria.

Personally I don’t think any one of the criteria above are particularly necessary and we are cutting our noses off despite our face if we’re insisting on sticking to them.

Plus - and I really hate to say it, IF they are intent on all that criteria being met...then the clear and obvious candidate is Allardyce (if we can put enough money his way for him to agree to a short term deal).

But again - say we get Allardyce and he pulls off the escape plan...I dare say fans will have warmed to him by then and wouldn’t be against him staying.

I guess the report must mean the likes of Deeney, Foster and Dawson - cannot see any of our overseas players demanding a British manager set in a certain way of style and performance.

Controversial opinion - I actually wouldn’t mind Allardyce

Chris Hughtons agent Rob Segal was at Watford training ground on Friday.

But failed to complete a deal.

Sounds like we wanted Hughton but couldn't get a deal done. I'm disappointed he was our first choice, if this is true of course.

That doesn't surprise me. You know how the Pozzo's work. The new coach is signed up before the current one leaves.

We are probably the most hated fans in the Prem at the moment looking at social media comments on our sacking policy, but lets be real - We aren't a dim bunch - If someone comes in now, turns our fortunes around and keeps us up, then we're in the pond come May and the man who did it will be a hero. Then by September we may want them gone.

Personally Big Sam is the man - I actually think given time with the squad we have, he can work some magic.

Yeah absolutely - Hughton comes across as a genuine bloke and a nice guy, but wouldn't want him here right now. Bullet dodged in my book.

Not sure if it's the same drivel - but if so, it looks to me like he's trying to tick the boxes. If this is believed then surely would suit the Pozzos - Give Mr Short Term the gig, if it works out, then lets see what vision he has for next season - If not, both parties move on. I just think with Big Sam its the fear factor to - People know he can turn it around, and will be more apprehensive playing us back end of the season.

Roger Schmidt has been offered the Watford job, but has turned it down. Ex-Valencia coach Marcelino has been approached but has also declined. Quique Setien has not been approached though.

Hughton, Clement and Fat Sam have all been ruled out also.

Roger Schmidt has turned the job down according to Leventhal.
New article on The Athletic where he goes through runners and riders - anyone with a membership who can cut and paste?

It says nothing, filler from Leventhal who hasn't been fed his talking points from the club yet

Disappointing given he mentions Setien and Marcelino in the preview for it - first times those names have been mentioned outside of social media.

I'm sure that the likes of Deulofeu, Doucoure, Sarr, Holebas, Masina, Femenia, Janmaat and Pereyra are clamouring for a British coach. Especially one noted for hoofball.

Whilst we get some good insights on the club from Leventhal, I'm not sure the club would be willing to reveal much information about the new head coach to him or anyone outside of the club. It should be kept as a private matter until we know for sure whose taking over. I'm pretty sure we're going to speak the likes of Allardyce & Hughton.

Quite concerned that some money has come in for Hughes, their must be something in that.

Apparently the key points in the article are that most of the names mentioned so far in the media aren’t currently in the running...

    Quique Setien hasn’t been approached.
Schmidt and Marcelino rejected approaches due to our league position.

The more I think about this and the longer it goes, I think there’s an increasing chance that Mullins gets a fair crack at it. Get thumped on Wednesday and the likes of Mark Hughes and Allardyce will be waiting by the phone...

    Please God not Hughes, please.

    Please.

He has turned into Ian Holloway, when he first came on the scene was interesting to listen too, even funny, teams played some decent stuff but over the last few years he has turned into a bitter and twisted individual who blames everybody but himself for his failings, and recently they have been failings. He also seems to instill that in his teams these days with this permanently niggling fouling and time wasting, backed up by him from the sidelines permanently in officials ears. I know it works for some but I don't want us to be that.

I hate myself for saying this but Big Fat Sam is the answer for a survival quest, I don't think he is a very pleasant individual but he is good at what he does and he plays to the strengths of what he has, not just long ball as some suggest. The main reason I hate myself for it is not him but that I nearly soiled myself laughing when the Toffees ended up with him after Silvagate. Now I am in that place.

The only trouble is he will probably want to be rewarded far more handsomely than we are prepare to give.

    But please, not Hughes.

I had the same reservations about Allardyce - but he was on TalkSport this morning and said he was happy to talk with Gino and wouldn’t necessarily ask for much money or a long deal - seems he’s accepted what people see him as these days and is happy with it. Says he could accept a deal until the summer and then have the situation reviewed and see if both sides are happy to continue or part.

And as I say, on reflection, if Allardyce came in and kept us up - I doubt there is a fan who would begrudge him staying. If he keeps us up - and I can’t believe I’m saying this - we would love him.

Imagine João Pedro getting of the plane from Brazil, coming in for his first training session, not speaking the language, not knowing anyone, a young kid in a new country, scared but hopeful.
The first thing he sees: A topless, gyrating Big Sam downing a pint of gravy for breakfast while Deeney chortles madly.
    It's a yes from me.

If he said this, there is no excuse. Get him in.
He will give us a fighting chance where everyone puts in a shift. If we go down I'm sure he'd get us back up if he stayed on. Knows how to sort out a solid team that's hard to beat and works hard for one another's that's all I ask for.
Has he got one promotion under his belt with Newcastle or did he take Bolton up aswell? Bit before my time.

Why not I say ? I never thought I’d say thx but .. we are desperate and he is one manager who has a proven track record of keeping clubs up . If he cane I’d give us a fighting chance .

Having said that I still think it’s unlikely they’ll go after him
