Quique Sanchez Flores - Sacked

Quite surprised the new coach hasn’t been named yet.

You’d imagine they’d have had things lined up ready to go once they’d pulled the trigger on QSF.

I’m itching to be extraordinarily disappointed and angered by the choice. This pent up annoyance isn’t healthy.

I reckon they are deliberately delaying it. They named QSF immediately after Javi last time and I reckon this time they don’t want to do it so quickly

I don't mind the extra time if it's being used to our advantage. QSF was appointed far too quickly. They have to get this right. And, it has to be more than a yes man ... someone has got to sort out this squad and stand up to the hierarchy and tell them what needs to be sorted out ...

I’m clinging on to dear hope that they had it all lined up for Hughton to go - and then when the news broke we’d sacked QSF, that the agent of a far better manager registered interest.

It’s beyond hopeful. But maybe the delay is that they aren’t sure on who to get? On that basis, if true, just put Mullins I’m charge and take a bit of time.

Nervously waiting for this and excitedly waiting for the announcement than silva has been sacked (which I think probably makes me a bit of a ******, eager to revel is somebody else’s misery)

Hayden Mullins to take charge on Weds apparently.

Surprising that as the club stated an announcement on the new head coach was imminent?

    Where have you seen/heard this?

If true that makes me feel better because I...
A.) Feel it would indicate that we are negotiating for someone who may have a decent calibre.
B.) Think it gives Mullins the chance that he perhaps deserves rather than jumping into bed with someone we don’t want in a hurry.

I assume we binned Flores off before Everton could do the same with Silva.

I'd imagine a few coaches would be all 'talk to me Tuesday' to Gino with Snakey about to go.

We’re all but relegated in the eyes of most. What chance do we have right now in getting a proven top flight manager that would make us all happy? Probably none.

I’d rather see out this season with whoever and then get someone to rebuild if we have gone down and someone of a decent calibre if we’ve stayed up.

For this season, Mullins, Deeney, BFS, doesn’t matter that much. Some attacking intent though, let’s go down swinging!

Agreed. I was hoping that due to there not being an announcement yet, an unexpected upgrade had potentially come up. It all seems a bit unlike how we usually do things and given the reports that we’d been seeking candidates over the last week or so.

I honestly think it’s because they currently look like complete and utter plonkers, and they don’t want to be made to look even more ridiculous by immediately appointing a new manager straight after sacking a manager they sacked, reappointed and sacked again.

I honestly think that sadly it’s as simple as that.

Telegraph Sport backing up what’s said above and that Mullins will be in charge on Wednesday. If true, that’s a slight breath of relief as I doubt they would pull the trigger on Hughton, Clement etc come Thursday given the hesitation to do it now. There is obvious doubt. Their agents will be pushing for the deal to be done now 100% as they won’t want the market to open up.

If the Telegraph (and Jason Burt is the journalist who is normally pretty spot on with us) have put it out there that Mullins will almost certainly be in charge in 72hrs, I’m cautiously hopeful that we are in talks with someone decent who we may need a few days to secure for whatever reason.

Article says ‘sources’ at the club say Hughton isn’t a candidate.

The article still says we want Premier League experience and preferably British. The choices are awful still!

    Chris hughton
Jason Burt for Telegraph reporting on Twitter that Mullens in charge on Wednesday... Could it be Hughton lined up but had a change of heart, wouldn't be a surprise as our plight not great, maybe incumbent not offered assurances re control over transfers etc or if Hughton maybe put off with many negative comments on social media

Cheers mate. I saw the article earlier today. But the thing is with these articles is that they update them online rather than post a new article when new info comes in!

So what the article said earlier is not what it says now!

    Ah yeah, fair enough.

Few interesting points on there. Surprised that we seem to be ruling Hughton out, although I'm not convinced that's completely true. I have a feeling we're interviewing 2/3 people for the job. Hughton, Clement & maybe even Big Sam. We really need to get this one right.

Thought I would pick this out of the telegraph article and ask what you feel about it.

After consultation with players it was felt that Sanchez Flores was holding the team back with defensive tactics and his substitutions.
There was also concern about whether training was intense enough and that the squad had lost something of its ‘DNA’ and wanted
    to attack the opposition more.

To me, it's just about exactly what we have all been feeling as of late. We're we actually right in Gino's eyes?

We have mercenary cowardice all over the first team squad. The best thing the board can do is make a statement that the new man is the man for next season as well whatever the outcome. Take the power away from the awful jellyfish in our first team for a change.

Holebas binned? F*ck you. You’re out next season as well so who cares. Ditto Doucoure, Femenia and Foster. Let’s take a longer term view for once. I would say the same of Cathcart but we’ve got nobody else and we’ve given him an idiotic 4 year deal.

What that makes me feel is that the culture at the club is completely wrong. That the owner/CEO (but likely Giraldi doing their bidding) can go around the squad undermining whoever the manager is. There is a way of doing things and we seem set on doing them wrong, purely because that’s the way Gino and his Dad (and associates) have always done them.

Get a coach in, make him answerable to ONE person and give him a say in what players he wants. The layers of hierarchy we have are pointless and I feel a lot of this seasons issues would have been resolved with one individual given his P45.

Suggests there was complaints about the intensity of the training sessions.

There were several rumours that during his first spell this was a huge issue as well.

So why oh why give him the job again when you know all about his coaching deficiencies? Baffling

I wonder if this injury list is partly down to the training methods. To have a player go off injured in the first half 6 games running isn't normal. What a mess.

I have said many times lately that we set up like losers, sit back like losers, and winning or losing, we play like losers. And then guess what, we lose.

Our defence is average at best. we cannot rely on the keeping another team out for 45 or 60 minutes. We have to attack far more, press to keep the ball up the other end. Force mistakes, create uncertainty, thereby create chances.
