SSN's yellow ticker is saying Paul Clement is the man Watford are looking to appoint.

Hope you're right mate, but Clement or Hughton will be a disaster and a massive backward step in my opinion.

He's a poor man's Steve McClaren. Good assistant, but sh1t first team coach.

But I see how the logic of Gino would arrive at a name like Paul Clement.
When he decided he wanted to be a manager instead of a coach, he was extremely highly rated and spent years at Chelsea and then Bayern Munich. Has worked alongside some very good managers and been successful - it just hasn’t translated to being a manager.

Gino may be going off the assumption that it hasn’t happened for him YET, rather than it never will. Plus he likely is happy to work under the Pozzo parameters, which the likes of Hughton etc will struggle with IMO.

It would be an unbelievably abysmal appointment. There's no other way around it.

 

On paper, with his experience and all the high profile clubs and managers he’s worked with he should be good.

But ultimately he’s an assistant manager, in 99.999% of occasions when an assistant manager turns to managing its a complete disaster, he was no different in the long run.

 

He will bring sir Nigel Gibbs with him

Can kind of see that Burnsy, however tactically Clement doesn't seem up to it. If its someone to work with Gino, then cool, get a coach with some solid tactical knowledge, and leave transfers etc to those above. If we are seriously going for Clement and those sorts, then the 500/1 odds on Elton John look good.
