Strange. Riley seems to have focused entirely on decisions (in his opinion) wrongly overturned by VAR with no mention of decisions equally wrongly NOT overturned.

The Deulofeu v Chelsea penalty is an odd one for me, I think that he was clearly impeded at a key moment, so is a penalty, but most seem to think not "enough" contact or not clearly fouled. It shouldn't however be categorised as 100% wrong.

The initial problems were only overturning decisions that are 100% wrong so I'd like to know what they're looking for now? 60/40? And can they deal with the jounos cat calls and demands without buckling and changing their policy again?

Whilst I'd love to hear the conversation between VAR and the ref, I imagine it would only create more trouble and dispute along the press, fans and managers.

The reason it was overturned was because of the person doing the VAR. Mike Dean favours the smaller club and always has done. When I saw the penalty overturned against Chelsea I knew it must be Mike Dean on VAR and I was correct.

It’s the only contentious decision that’s gone our way all season, yet it’s mentioned as one of the 4 bad mistakes.

So now it seems everyone is aware Watford got a lucky call. Nothing is mentioned about the handball goals we conceded or the penalties we should have got against Everton, Brighton and Spurs.

So in the mind of non Watford fans, Watford are getting all the good decisions and this will stick in the consciousness when it comes to future incidents and a balancing out will occur no doubt.

At least the VAR was used correctly today.

It pleases me greatly to know the bad VAR decisions against us are being balanced by the good VAR decisions against us.

I was surprised the ref didn't notice Holebas swiping out their player in the first place !

So that's yet another handball goal scored against us. So the count is 6 against 1 for in incorrect VAR decisions. The cheating c***s have cost us 7 points this season. B'stards.

Maybe they were watching something else - bit like Holebas and Chalobah appeared to be doing.

Putting a tackle in might have prevented all that.

Typical of our season and the shambles its been.

The good old commentators laughed it off with “well it wouldn’t be a premier league weekend without a spot of VAR controversy!”

I can't get angry about VAR decisions when we play like a team wanting to be beaten. Had we ripped them to shreds in the second half, I'd probably be a bit upset, but we almost deserve refereeing decisions to go against us at this stage.

Like most I can't stand Flores, but letting that go changed the game.

I really don't understand the process for VAR

Incorrect decisions against us are insignificant.

Gracia lost his job due to a handball goal away to Newcastle costing us a win when he was under pressure for his job.

QSF surely loses his job after another handball costs us a win when his job is at risk.

VAR decisions are partly to blame for this joke of a season.

Why are the VAR officials not getting replaced? - its their job to review replays of goals and spot this. They are the VAR 'experts' after all.

The one incorrect decision in our favour resulted in a consolation goal against Chelsea, arguably the decision was never in any danger of influencing the result. The hardest result of the three that went against us was at Newcastle but that was in my opinion two points dropped. We would more than likely have gone on to win at a lacklustre Spurs had the handball been given, and today the attacker clearly benefitted from handling the ball. If sky can pick this up in passing then VAR must see it in replay. If as they should, see it then surely questions must be asked as to how it was missed.

If he does not handle the ball here then Southhampton do not score their opening goal. That is how vital the touch was

    They've even admitted the mistake.

So with VAR being 6-1 going against Watford, I think this is conclusive that decisions heavily go against us. Always have done...…..no doubt there will be many debates to say how wrong I am......but once again it's conclusive proof we are shafted more often than not.

I seriously think Watford should make an official complaint. They have to highlight this and emphasise these handballs, which are factual, and how many points it's directly cost us. If no one does this from within the club, they are selling us short.

Three handball goals after 14 games......seriously.....what's going on? No other club has had this happen to them at all.

Its obvious that officials are not really bothered about making decisions that go against us as they wont be criticised too harshly as no-one else apart from Watford staff and fans care.

Last season after conceding a penalty at home to Bournemouth which resulted in player being sent off referee Jon Moss laughed with the Bournemouth players on his way back to the centre circle after they scored. He would not have done the same at Anfield or Old Trafford. Double standards and bias are embedded in these clueless guardians of our game.

They don’t care, who are we but little old Watford. I expect most reports tomorrow won’t even mention it.

As mentioned by someone earlier, the commentators were laughing about it. And then just brushed it off.

I mean we were crap in the second half, but not picking up that is inexcusable *.

    * unless you work work for VAR where it is just really really pressured and we wouldn’t understand because you only have like 4 minutes to watch one event several times and then flip a coin to get it right.

There shouldn't be ANY missed VAR handball goals. They have TV replays. They have "experts" analysing the event. They've missed three goals scored against us, the only three missed VAR handball decisions this season in all the games with all clubs.

These three handball goals all came about when we were leading 1-0. It's beyond not caring. This is not accidental. It's impossible for it to be.

But they are crap at it at. Demonstrably they can’t make the right choices much at all. I like your “expert” as they are far from experts, and that is not just for Watford games.

VAR has not served us well this season, but quite a few decisions have gone against big teams (well, Man City, not Liverpool).

whatever, we have had enough bad calls now

Richard Keys likes to moan about any VAR decision on his Twitter page (even ones that are right ) yet doesn't mention tonight it seems ..

Maybe they aren't that fussed because they think we are so rubbish that it doesn't matter .

It was a strange hand ball which I don’t think was mentioned on sky until something like 92 minutes as per the photo, it obviously wasn’t picked up until then, had the players seen it they would have gone running to Oliver and asked him to check, however I reckon everyone missed it, including VAR which is very unfortunate but in the circumstances understandable!

The above decision didn’t cost us the game what did was the 3 or 4 good chances we had in the first half to score!, especially the Sarr chance inside 2 minutes, score that and we could well be three points better off!

It annoys me our manager and players barely mention it themselves. Compare that with Eddie Howe, he can have his team get awarded two penalties and spend a good few minutes after the game moaning about the 3rd they didn’t get. And it clearly works. We give officials too easy a ride with our games.

They said they did not want to hold the game up longer than necessary, and that is why they missed the handball.

That is very strange because it did not seem to bother them when awarding the penalty against us last week, even though the ball had gone up the other end and we had been awarded a corner, they still had time to bring play back up to our end and award a penalty against us

What I can’t understand is how the cameras ‘missed it’.
    How?

We were told the whole point of VAR was to have all the camera angles that the referee and even TV viewers don’t have. Yet they’ve not had this angle until later...why? And they can prevaricate over a Liverpool or Man City VAR call for over 3 minutes to make sure they call a toenail offside - but they can let this one go after a few seconds, saying they wouldn’t have been able to get it in a reasonable timeframe.

If you don’t have the speed of access to make the right call, then VAR should be nowhere near the game until you do, simple as that.

All the handball calls that HB1 rightfully points to - and I’d add Deulofeu penalty at Spurs that wasn’t given. It’s a farce and should never ever have been introduced to the PL under its current guidelines and limitations.

The system is fine. The limitations begin when the league is predicated towards the success of 6 teams and no others.

I know that they are concerned about time, but surely every goal check should involve the referee in question working through a check list of each possible infringement that could lead to the goal being disallowed.

Currently, given how randomly these handballs etc seem to be picked up, it’s almost like it’s down to individual discretion which infringements are being looked for, because as you say, it makes no sense how a toenail offside can be allowed several minutes, when a clear handball is completely missed.

The issue here is purely down to why VAR didn’t have access to the correct camera angles at the time. If you’re going to allow football matches to be refereed by TV you have to at least have the correct system in place, even if the officials’ decision making is suspect.
