Another Senegalese forward currently based in France (because the last one has worked out so well thus far).

Supposedly us and a number of other PL clubs have been taking a look at him. 24 years old, 8 goals in 13 games for Metz this season, despite them languishing in 17th in Ligue 1. 26 goals in 43 appearances in the previous season when Metz got promoted.

Looks quick and sharp at any rate (not so much a sulky teenager like Sarr):

Looks good. Should be able to phase him into 1st team action by about 2024 following the usual 4 year induction programme.

Yep I'm onboard, let's go in at 32m imo, hard ceiling at 40m.

Wait, I’ve not been here much, but where did “Sulky Teenager Sarr” come from? Or is this another weirdo myth about a young lad moving to a new country?

Nothing like giving the young man a chance.
Most on here would rather see the joke of a footballer Gray week in week out.

I'm not actually writing him off just yet, I had been positive about the possibility of signing him in the summer after watching him play a couple of matches for Senegal in the Afcon, as well as youtube clips and checking his stats - I thought he looked lively and would be an upgrade to our right-hand side.

However, since arriving here his brief on-field appearances, as well as all the club videos of him off-field in training etc. have given off the impression of him having the attitude of a sulky teenager who doesn't really want to be here and is finding it all too nerve-wracking somehow. I'm well aware that players can take time to adjust to the PL, especially when young, but the extent to which he has looked like a fish out of water so far has been a surprise and is rather concerning.

For me it's no surprise. Initially when I saw we were interested in him for £30m+ I (wrongly) said that would never happen. Since that time, I did some research by watching games live where he played also lots of Youtube etc, but even in the video's of his best bits, I saw nothing in him that made me think we've got to get this guy. Of course the club with all the scouting and expertise Watford have, are far better placed than my layman's view, but I couldn't understand why we went for him, and still cannot believe we invested so much money in him.

I've seen nothing to suggest my original view of him was wrong. I think Watford have really had their fingers burnt on this deal, and for the life of me I cannot understand what possessed them to go all out for him.

The video of Sarr training alone in the rain when he first got here kind of sums up his spell with us so far!

Gracia and QSF clearly would based on what they've seen of both....still, what do they know.

Having both been moved on by Watford before. I dare say not much. But time will tell.
Sarr had no preseason with us. Which would of helped massively getting to know team mates and so on. Picking up a knock didn't help either.
Hey but what do I know.

I wouldn't base a player's quality on their game time under QSF.

    1. Since Ighalo stopped his miraculous form, his points per game record must be up there as one of the worst we've ever had.
    2. Flores gave Iketchi Anya nearly 30 appearances in the Premier League. I'm sure hard work in training and a smiley face gets you further with Quique than most.

Just shows how imbalanced the squad was which he had at that time - Anya was perhaps the most limited footballer we've had to play regularly in the PL.

He's disappeared without a trace at Derby, doesn't even make the bench. I expect they saw that solo goal he scored vs Germany and thought they'd signed a superstar.....

    It wasn't that imbalanced.

There was no believable reason for Iketchi Anya coming on as a sub bang on the 60 minute mark. There were many better options off the bench. He was just one of Quique's favourites, probably because he trained well.

A bit harsh, I liked Anya. Not as technically gifted as some but good pace which he actually used and often used to make things happen with that, did us good service in his time here I reckon.

  22. That goal where he took the ball in our box at Barnsley, sprinted the length of the pitch and scored. And of course in the here's Hogg... build up. Legend for me.

His touch to pluck the ball out of the sky from the Cassetti clearance was incredible (and quite out of character for him). Always felt sorry for him that on the footage that is always repeated it cuts away to Almunia at that exact moment and you miss it.

A bit of a surprise as he seems pretty similar in style to Abraham.

Must surely mean that Batshuayi is off.
