'Never good to see' Stratford Twitter (ST) claimed the referee was on first name terms with the opposition but surname only with Town players. (Graham Taylor once said a similar thing about a referee - Graham Poll if I remember correctly - when Watford played (possibly) Arsenal. Something along the lines of a natural bias for the people you're friendly with as opposed to those you don't know at all). 'Stratford not enjoying their evening' ST may have been alluding to the ref's incompetence with regards to two sending offs sandwiched between a penalty conceded. 'Stratford's twitter feed is a joy to read right now. No holding back' ST said something along the lines of the opposition have scored their third(?) with the referee (name checked) just about managing to stop himself from joining in the goal celebrations. 'and then...' I don't remember what happened then.
It was Jeff Winter he said that about after our first away game in the PL at Sunderland. GT thought Winter, who is from the north-east, acted as though the Sunderland players were his mates.
Sema scoring the winner from an Okaka assist for Udinese. Look how they flourish when they get away from our ****** club!
******* hell! He's barely played at all for JEF United Chiba but Williams Velásquez is in the Venezuelan squad to play Japan on November 19. Oh, wait. It's IN Japan. Sensibly, the Venezuelan FF are saving on an air fare for a more obviously talented player. Austerity rules the Venezuelan Football Federation.
The U23 African nations cup is underway and we have 2 players out in Africa Kingsley Fobi played full 90 mins for Ghana yesterday: Cameroon sub 23 1-1 Ghana sub 23 Tonight is Tom Dele-Bashiru’s Nigeria v Ivory Coast.
Cameron Green is getting regular games at Braintree Town but now has a new manager after Glen Driver quit the club last week. Driver has returned to Southern League Premier Division Central outfit Leiston. Braintree have given the job to 23 year old defender and club captain Jake Hutchings with former Braintree manager George Borg helping him out. Hopefully having played alongside Green, Hutchings will keep playing the Watford left-back for the remainder of his loan which is due to end on December 31st. As an aside, Green is one of only two recognised left-backs in the u23s, Lewis Gordon being the other, with a current trialist playing there in the recent game against Ipswich. Harry Hudson has also filled in there since he returned from his loan at Cray. There also seems to be a shortage of right-backs at the moment with centre half Mason Barrett filling in when Jamal Balogun needed replacing.
Alex Jakubiak starts for Gillingham tonight when they play against a Tottenham side in the EFL Trophy. Just looking at the Spurs line-up and, well... Alfie, yes. Timothy, yes. Harvey, yes. Elliot, yes. Phoenix, okay. Armando, hmm. Shilow, what? J'Neil, oh **** off.
Bonham sub keeper, Lee Hodson and Alex Jakubiak, Gillingham are the new Sheffield Wednesday, I like Pochetino as sub, is that the actual or junior??
Suarez seems to think his Spanish passport boosts his chances of playing for us next season: https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...g-forward-playing-england-real-zaragoza-loan/ Delusional.
That isn't the delusional part of what he says - it's that he hopes to play for us in the PL next season (as it would see him achieve his dream of playing in one of Europe's top five leagues).
How many of these loan players will be good enough and ready to hit the ground running in the championship next season?
I reckon Suarez would be plenty good enough. Problem is he'd likely much rather play in La Liga than the Championship.
Cucho the Messiah. João Pedro if he doesn't get offloaded in the summer! That Pervis Estupinan perhaps... Big Ben Wilmot. Penaranda? He gone off the face of the earth at Eupen.
I would bring Wilmot back in January if we can and make him first choice centre back. Cucho is just back training so hopefully will play some football in the new year. There were concerns he wouldn't be able to cut in the EPL but I guess that doesn't matter anymore! Is Peneranda injured?
Stuparevic could also be ready to step up soon, and may be more willing to play in the Champ. Wilmot could be good in the Champ, though I'm not convinced he's all that. Swansea have dropped from about 2nd to 8th while he's been in the side. I'd try and cash in on Cucho tbh if a La Liga side is willing to gamble on him. Estupinan is currently a regular starter for the team 9th in La Liga - I doubt he'll go to the Championship next season.
He has only played 140 minutes this season for the team second bottom in the Czech league. 0 goals (7 games). I reckon he'll be another Pozzo dud but would love to be proved wrong. Watched him play in Belfast in a youth international and he was so bad he was subbed at HT. He was up against a defender who was in Watford's youth team (and NI obviously) who has since been released by Watford and doesn't seem to have a club (Tom Leighton), so it wasn't exactly tough opposition for him.
Hadn't realised that. Last I'd looked he'd been scoring at whatever the heck club he was at. Disappointing.
Penaranda coming off injury (again). Got in the last few minutes at the weekend. Hopefully he'll get a longer run this week.
I've not kept up the updates or even bothered to look half the time but this caught my eye this afternoon. https://fcf.com.co/index.php/2019/12/06/convocatoria-seleccion-colombia-masculina-sub-23-2/ In short and in English, it has Juan Camilo Becerra listed in the squad for two Colombian u23 friendlies against Paraguay on December 19 & 21. A direct quote, translated, states; These matches serve as preparation for the Colombia 2020 Pre-Olympic Tournament.
Our boys in Spain Alaves 1-1 Leganes: Marc Navarro still out injured At Madrid 2-0- Osasuna: Pervis Estupiñán played 90 mins Celta 2-2 Mallorca: Cucho Hernandez came on 46th min Mirandes 2-0 Huesca: Matheus Aias unused sub Zaragoza 2-0 Racing Santander: Luis Suarez played 87 mins scored the first Ibiza 3-1 Marino de Luanco: Kwasi Sibo not in squad Hercules 1-2 Badalona: Jaime Alvorado not in squad Cornella 1-0 Lleida: Jaime Becerra not in squad Villarrubia 1-3 Badajoz: Kingsley Fobi not in squad Recreativo 1-0 Cadiz B: Momo played 53 mins and scored the winning goal ( Own Goal ) Don Benito 1-0 Talavera: Matheus Santana played 90 mins Marbella 0-0-Algeciras: Juergen Elitim unused sub Luis Suarez has now scored 13 goals in 19 games for Zaragoza
From my quick glance at the weekend, Cucho came on at half time, gave away a penalty, almost got sent off for a second yellow and then assisted the equaliser. As you do.
Suarez' goal here, keeper prob should have saved it, but at least he hit it fairly well and it was on target, which is more than any of our current lot seem capable of: Cucho's supposed assist (at 1min here) was nothing to write home about, he slid in for a challenge in the box which came as much off the covering defender as him, and it spilled luckily to a Mallorca striker:
Can anybody say that any of these people are likely to play for Watford? If not, what’s the point in monitoring them?
If by some miracle we stay up then Estupiñán would likely be our first choice left-back based on what I've read on him (I watched him play once and wasn't amazed, but he was definitely an upgrade over our current options). Cucho could still potentially make an impact at Watford, but other than that I'd say the rest are unlikely to play for us. I still like seeing how they get on though!
