I don't know, teams who hastily sack managers really are the worst aren't they.

After being appointed as head coach last week, Glen Kendall was sacked after just one game in charge, the 1-6 loss to Hornchurch yesterday in a FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round tie.

Not only Kendall but the two people he brought with him, assistant coach Bulent Caliskan & sports psychologist Email Jonathan have also been relieved of their duties.

(No, honestly, his first name really is Email).

Vice-Chairman Lee Connor has said they'd had second thoughts after replacing the previous manager too quickly.
"The club will not be making any rash decisions for the time being," he remarked.

Connor then stated “I will be stepping up as interim manager until a permanent appointment is made”.

The Bees currently sit second from bottom in the Isthmian League North Division.

What we need to see is a head coach/ manager and his team getting fired after no games in charge.

Sounds a bit like Glenn Tamplin (owner) at Billericay - can't remember the full story and can't find dates on some of the events but goes something like this:

    - Spunks loads of money on washed up ex-prem players like Jamie O'Hara, Konchesky, Pennant. Results don't go the way he wants.
    - Sacks the manager. Employs himself as manager.
    - Results don't go the way he wants. Threatens to sack himself if they lose to Wealdstone.
    - Wealdstone beat them quite convincingly. He promotes his assistant (Harry Wheeler) to manager and demotes himself to assistant.
    - Reappoints himself as manager 2 days later later.
    - Sacks himself a couple of months later.
    - Promotes Wheeler back to manager and says if he doesn't win the title he'll be sacked.
    - They win the title with a game to spare (despite having easily 3x the budget of any other team in the league)
    - Sacks Wheeler a year later.
    - Rehires Wheeler 147 days later (Jan 2019)
    - Sacks Wheeler again (september 2019), apparently for not playing the owners son who is in the Billericay academy.

Obviously Tamplin should be offered a senior position at the Vic. He'd fit right in.

This has happened at least once, when ownership of the club changed just after the new manager was appointed.

Two examples come to mind, but I'm not sure about either. I think Steve Claridge may gave been the fall-guy and I also think it may have happened at QPR.

Turns out he's just bought Romford Utd now and someone on Reddit has made a much better timeline than me:

Here's how last season started for them, from a post about it at the time.

    • 27th August - Tamplin sacks treble-winning manager Harry Wheeler, allegedly four minutes before the Billericay's first loss of the season by text. Billericay were top, with a record of W4 D1 L1. Tamplin announces that he will "co-manage" the next game.

    • 1st September - During a 1-2 defeat against Woking, and following strange mannerisms from Tamplin in the dugout, Surrey Police receive an allegation that Tamplin has been sniffing coke in the club toilets. He is told he will be stopped by police if he drives, drives, and then records the stop whilst indirectly scaring the **** out of his kids. Some suggestion that the recording was faked by the club and/or by Tamplin for sympathy. See here.

    • 2nd September - Tamplin announces he is selling the club, citing personal abuse, and using the tape as justification. Commits to bringing back Harry Wheeler.

    • 7th September - Tamplin states that he might not be leaving, because he can't find anyone to buy the club who is suitable. Confirms that he will co-manage with Tristan Lewis for the next game.

    • 9th September - Harry Wheeler spotted at Maidstone United.

    • 10th September - Tamplin releases a video statement apologising for sacking Harry Wheeler.

    • 11th September - Tristan Lewis leaves the club to join up with the newly appointed Harry Wheeler at Maidstone United.

    • 12th September, 2:00pm - Tamplin appoints Steve Watt as manager.

    • 12th September, 5:00pm - Tamplin sacks Steve Watt as manager.
Glenn opts for Dean Brennan to replace Wheeler - a manager with a good track record, having spent six years at Hemel Hempstead, bringing them up into the National South and keeping them there with decent football. Tamplin doesn't sell the club, or leave - he's got a track record of threatening to do so, or announcing that he has, without actually doing it.

Nevertheless results settle. Top scorer Jake Robinson - who has an outrageous goalscoring record at Step 6 - signs a new 18 month deal, which is huge. The club are chasing the top spots, and look comfortable playoff contenders.

And then the club leadership - Glenn chief amongst them - makes a decision that ruins their season:

    • 23rd November - With a string of key games coming up, the club decides that it wants to change its full/part time structuring. This means, amongst other things, more than halving the playing budget in an effort to make the club sustainable in any way. Key players, including Jake Robinson, are shown the door in an extremely short space of time. The club scrambles to find replacements, particularly in defence.

    • 1st December - Billericay lose their first home game of the season to an Oxford City side staving off relegation.

    • 15th December - Billericay exit the FA Trophy at the hands of a Hereford side staving off relegation in the Conference North.

    • 22nd December - Billericay are drubbed 0-4 at home by title contenders Woking, essentially killing hopes of automatic promotion. Dean Brennan vows that they will improve defensively, but acknowledges that recruitment and tactics are problematic.

    • 26th December - Billericay are drubbed 1-5 by their local rivals and fellow playoff contenders, Chelmsford City.

    • 30th December - Club Chairman Dan Groves, whom Glenn describes as his right hand man, announces that Glenn is in rehab in the United States for "burnout."

    • 14th January - Dan Groves indirectly confirms that Glenn has still not returned to the club, and states that "Myself, Glenn and the board are 100% behind Dean Brennan and his team".

    • 16th January - Dean Brennan leaves Billericay after a meeting with the Dan Groves and the board.

    • 18th January - Billericay Town appoint - you've guessed it - Harry Wheeler as the club's new manager.
The club would go seven game without a win over March and April, and miss out on the playoffs by a single point.

A mention to the time he messaged all the players in the club over WhatsApp saying how much he loved them all and that he was crying in the gym about how much he loved the club: https://twitter.com/glenntamplin/status/955301839834177536

...and today Romford have sacked their management team!

The telling quote being, "It was felt with the new investment coming into the club it was the right time for a fresh start."

Just waiting for Harry Wheeler to turn up at Romford's gates now with a sack of training cones slung over his shoulder and half a dozen footballs spilling out of the boot of his Ford Fiesta.

Is this how we look to other clubs, at least how we looked when the Pozzo regime started?

Romford United, as Reids has posted above, are now owned and managed by Glenn Tamplin (principal owner of AGP Steel, chief hirer and firer extraordinaire, married to a woman called Bliss, was named the second most powerful person in Essex (2017) and who has a soft spot for Harry Wheeler (St Albans born, UEFA A Licensed Coach).

Tamplin has now added 13 players to the club (I think he's still at Romford!) since his confirmation as owner/manager two days ago.

...apparently Romford Tamplin FC had signed 21 players before the start of todays game, since Wednesday.

Another non-league highlight, today Nuneaton played Stratford (where academy 'keeper Harvey White was on loan recently) in the Southern League Central Division.

Stratford seem to give away a lot of penalties and today managed to concede two.
The first, after 62 minutes and with the score at 0-0, was taken by Nuneaton 'keeper Tony Breeden and he absolutely smashed it.

Nuneaton went on to win 2-0 with their second also a penalty, but this time taken by midfielder Callum Powell.

But he did say that sacking long-term (13 years!) manager Paul Martin was difficult, but ultimately a nessecity.

"I respect them highly, have a lot of time for them," Tamplin says. "But I'm only getting players offered on loan if I am managing them and looking after them.

"There are managers in the National League who I have relationships with and they are saying that I can have players but only if I'm in the dugout.

He is truly deranged if he thinks the above actually happened

If season 1 of Rovers was more like this, it may have made it to a second season.
