So here we are my local game. And it finds the top flights' two yellow teams in 19th and 20th places and probable favourites for relegation.

The canaries have picked up just 7 points in 11 games.
Delia seemingly didn't want to listen to my advice preseason when I told her that the way to stay in this division in your first season was not to outscore your opponents every game in a gung ho, top of the championship way, but rather to play for draws and scrape the odd win, and indeed their free flowing football playing looks like it has been found out. They have scored 11 but have conceded an eye watering 26 goals so far. Leaving them with almost as bad a goal difference as us at -15

So far then they opened the season losing 2-0 to West Ham and then 2-3 at home to Chelsea before thrashing Newcastle 3-1. Liverpool beat them 4-1, followed by 2-0 losses away to Palace and Burnley.
Then just as the premier league is prone to throw up we have the exception that proves the rule Delia don't we? The 3-2 home win against City. Some achievement, some achievement indeed.
Since then they have been soundly beaten at home by Utd and Villa with a goalless draw away to the south coast divers inbetween the two. And they come to us following a 2-0 loss at Brighton.

On the face of it there are some patterns to this. They seem to like to lose 2-0, with most of the bigger teams scoring plenty and they get a consolation.

Their form is therefore poor. LLDLL. They average 1 goal a match and concede 2.36
Saying that they are much more likely to score at home 2 per game as opposed to 0.17 away. But they also concede more at home 2.8 as opposed 2 away.

Our form against them isn't great. The last time we met they beat us 4-2, if I remember correctly that was under a Mr Flores. A game where Jurado did his impression of a right angle, get ball, neatly turn 90 degrees, neatly pass for most of it.

Despite our defensive play we have not kept a clean sheet in any away games this season.
In terms of goalscorers only Pukki is of note with 6 goals.

    Prediction then:
We wont keep a clean sheet. Stats say they will probably score 2 goals. 2-0 (Pukki 34, 82)
We will also almost certainly get another long term injury.
Sorry I am not being more upbeat, if we are going to kickstart our season, you'd hope this would be a game we could win, but like most supporters Im not feeling optimistic anymore. Hell even the happy lot on that podcast thing, the one where they mispronounce all the players names, don't seem to think we are going to win or score any time soon

Apart from Delia my friend Ben supports Norwich as does Stan. Stan looks like a Hagrid so should be easy to spot, say hi if you see him, he strangles ducks for a living, thousands of them everyday.

Great write up. Mix of laughter, home truths and tears.

Well, they are more or less us in looks and injury crisis. They have 2pts more than us, so a win would FINALLY move us off the bottom.
Pukkii hasn't scored in a while, and if he's fit expect a hatrick.

What Watford will we see? A side up for a real scrap and fight till the end? Blood and guts with solid defending and Gray scoring?

Or will it be the spinless cowards of late who cannot score a created chance, heads that drop when we go a goal down with sideways passing?

Alot depends on injury returns and the lineup. We will no doubt play for a draw but we need to really try to win this. I hope we see our most attacking side possible, that might mean Success, but he can score.

QSF must realise this too. Bradford A 2000, lost 3-2, more or less sent us down. This is much earlier... but do they want to fight and keep our Prem status? We will found out after these three games.

Norwich 0 Watford 1 I live in hope.

    Must win game.
2-0 to NC, a generally solid defensive performance after going 2-0 down in the first 10 mins.
It's Masina's turn to have our one shot on target but, due to strict instructions about not pushing fwd too far, its a fairly tame effort from 55 yards out.
After 65 mins QSF brings on Janmaat for Femenia and Prodl for Dawson as the haunting sound of The Last Post drifts across Carrow Rd.

If there's anything more than a must win, must win game then this is it.
It's a 7 not a six pointer at the very least.
That being said I'd take a loss if it provided the final nail in QSF's coffin.

2 up front please. The whole point of football is scoring more goals then the opposition, not letting is as few goals as possible.

    Predicted line up
    Foster
    Gomes Bachman Dahlberg Dawson Kabaselle
    Janmaat Masina Femina Holebas Jurado
    Doyley

    Precdicted score 6-0
Doyley Hatrick ruled out by VAR

    Holebas gets 3 yellows
Foster injury out for the rest of the season

Hopefully we can recall Pervis Estupinan and Marc Navarro, and snap up a couple of free agents (Doyley?) in time to fulfil the dream of an entire bench of full backs.

That should put enough pressure on Masina and Janmaat to stay deep enough.

We may well be able to keep Norwich out but I can't imagine us scoring from open play - so I think the best case scenario is we nick one from a corner and win 1-0 (a result I would greedily grab with both hands).

Could be a truly dire game.

We simply have to get a win here. It's critical to get some confidence back if we're going to pull ourselves out of the mess we've landed ourselves in.

Unfortunately I think we're just going to sit back en masse and hope someone scores a worldie from 90 yards.

Must win game but it will be the night hope dies. Three centre backs. Norwich hit the solitary goal after 75 minutes after a mental blunder by one of the centre backs. Flores brings on Masina for Holebas after 82 minutes to try and save the game.

Torn between the victory being absolutely must-get vital on pain of death/relegation, and the idea of a loss being that final nail that means we might just get someone in who's capable of the total revitalising sea-change that's required to have any chance of surviving in this division, and that there's almost no way whatsoever that Quique is capable of providing.

Andre Marriner is the referee for this one. Pleased about that as he's a top referee. Unfortunately we've got useless Andy Madley on VAR. Let's hope nothing controversial happens and that tw&t overturns Marriner's decisions.

This is probably the biggest game of the season for us, in the predicament we're in. Lose and we'll be cut adrift. Norwich would be on 11 points, Saints on 8 and us on just 5, after playing a game more.

We just have to win this in order to give ourselves any chance. Even a draw would keep us ticking over, but only just. A defeat and I think all realistic hope would be extinguished. A win, would give us a massive boost with more good games (on paper) to follow. This could really turn the season around.

If we lose, I just cannot see the Pozzo's keeping Flores. It's not really worked out so far and time is running out. It could be the last chance to really rectify the situation.

I’d be quite disappointed if Masina doesn’t start. I think he’s deputized well over the last couple of games, and I don’t think Holebas has done nearly enough this season to warrant automatic selection once available.

I am with you though, it’s hard to see anything other than another insipid defeat. We really are that bad.

We desperately need some leadership, both on and off the field, because I do believe that under the right manager, we have enough decent players to get out of this mess. Time is running out rapidly, though.

There you go Quique, it's still 532 with a bit more oomph in the midfield and attack. Surely you can manage that?

Norwich have defensive problems. If we don't score then he really has no chance of seeing out the international break surely.

Norwich are pants, so If we can lose this it must give us the confidence to go the whole season without a win. We do look capable of smashing a few records this year; a shaky / slow defence coupled with an attack that can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Surely, with whatever formation we put out, this is the time to put in a 100% shift and win a bloody football match.

If playing against a team who are as bad as us, with the chance to climb off the bottom spot, actually look down at somebody else and secure a GD at least matching Norwich's and superior to Saints' isn't incentive enough to get the job done and begin to turn our season around then nothing will be.

After watching Norwich the other day i'm confident you will chalk up your first win. I will also go as far as saying you will score 3 goals. Get that first goal and the flood gates will open.
