Flores won't play for them though.

That's 27 horrendous 0-0 draws for Flores to play for. We're down unless that clown in gone tomorrow morning.

Loaning out Wilmot know looks another poor decision. I’m assuming there is no loan recall, that would be too sensible? He’s certainly an upgrade on Mariappa, who looks set to start given another defensive injury to Cathcart. Our injury list is horrendous this early in the season, and it just looks unprofessional to come into the season with players not fully fit. I actually feel a touch sorry for QSF, he has picked up a mess.

If there is a recall option, we’d have to wait until January to trigger it I think.

I see he kept his place and played 90 minutes yesterday. Knowing us we’d recall him then not play him.

Or he’ll get an immediate injury.

He is playing as they have an injury to one of the regulars .

Whereas we have injured or not up to it replacements in our back line .

You may as well say we have 5 games left.

    Our next five fixtures are Norwich (a ), Burnley (h ), Southampton (a ), Leicester (a ), Palace (h ).

Under normal circumstances you'd have to fancy our chances in four of those games, and we've got to take advantage of that.

If we come out of that run with only 2 or 3 points, then it's all over for sure.

Well if only we could score .

The next two games are good bets for 0-0 or 1-0.

  10. I've been positive for weeks that we'd stay up. Still am.

But if we lose to Norwich then even I will lose hope and consider us all but down.

Even a draw against these lot who are more useless than is right now will have me wavering on the inevitable.

Potentially without Cathcart, Capoue, Cleverley & Deeney, just about the only outfield players with any balls, I can only see a meek defeat.

If we win on Friday, we'd actually go 18th!!. If we lose, then I think it will be very hard to convince players we can battle our way out of this predicament.

It's a pivotal match for sure.

Every week I say we are at last chance to win if we want to stay up.

And after every game I extend it another week...

    Norwich will beat us 3-0.

  15. I'm the same. Thing is no one is really pulling away.

Keeps the hope alive that a couple of wins and suddenly things look a little safer.

I keep reminding myself of palace who were in a worse position a year or 2 ago and finished 11th.

Defensively we've turned a corner. Attacking wise we just need some spark of creativity.

I don't really think we have turned a corner defensively. We've just put a couple of extra players in there in the hope that numbers will make it harder for the opposition to open us up, which in theory should be the case, but I still see the same silly mistakes being made.

Opposition are still making runs into our box with our players completely unaware of what is going on. Chelsea opened us up time and time again, and that could have been a real beating on Saturday. Foster had to not only pull off some very good saves, he's made three world class saves.....and Chelsea still scored twice. Had Foster not been quite so inspired, it would have been 7 or 8-0......again. I saw very little improvement with our defenders in that match.

Even Bournemouth created 2 or 3 very good chances which should have been taken. Our players just cannot defend.

The trouble now is that we have to over compensate their inabilities and that costs us all attacking threat. For us to score now, we have to produce the perfect move and execution, which we will rarely be able to do, because our players are not at that level. The goal we scored at Spurs was the great example. The move was perfect so it resulted in a goal. It's a rarity we can put a move like that together, hence the lack of goals.

We are a shadow of the side we used to be, even though we still have the same players.

We need a coach who can maximise the players we have and create a system which is robust defensively but carries a threat at the other end. It's all about good discipline, genuine hard work and taking risks at the right time.

I'm not convinced we have a coach who can create something like that.

  17. Maybe you're right. But we've gone from conceding 20 in 6 to 3 in 4.

    That is pretty dramatic.

I know we're still conceding chances but I think the chances are fewer and far between and they're not as easy as ones we were giving teams before.

Admittedly foster has saved us a lot but it feels like we've tightened up the gaps between the defence and midfield and forced teams into slight chances.

Seems to be at the expense of anything up front and that is a worry.

It would be interesting to see what the likes of big spending Pep and Klopp could do with the current Watford squad. I'm not sure they could do a lot.

We could probably do with a Chris Wilder type if anything.

Palace were, and are, a one-man-team and had Zaha to come back. We have Troy & Success to come back.....
We are 6 points adrift of safety today and I don't think Everton or Villa will go down.
We'll need to win at least 9 of 27 games, probably 10. That's at least a third of our games having not won for ages. It's not impossible but we have maybe 10% chance ?

  20. If we can drag ourselves up on to level terms in the next 5 or 6 games then we still have a good chance. Obviously as you say we can't buy a win so not sure where we'll be dragging those points from. HAS to start Friday night.

Yes given those games and then what follows, a minimum of 3 wins from the next 5 games would get us back within reach, though probably still in the bottom 3. Then it's liverpool and Man Utd so we may lose ground again.
