The resurrection of this thread inspired me to have a peek at my local FB group and I'm pleased to report that, as ever, it is a reflection of the issues that this country is facing. There seem to be two main talking points at the moment:
    1. The fact that someone nearly bumped into Noel Gallagher with their trolley outside Waitrose.
    2. Someone has posted a complaint that a police car was "illegally" parked in a loading bay while its occupant "shopped" in Holland and Barrett nearby. Why don't they have to follow the same rules as us, etc etc. A "heated debate" followed, during which it was pointed out that the police officer was, in fact, on duty and returning stolen goods to the store.
Yup, finger on the pulse of the nation where I live....

I love her use of language. ‘Does anyone know who this can be reported to’ instantly tells you that there will be another post in five minutes time saying ‘Hubby has called the Post Office and they said I’ve done the right thing letting them know....’

I think it’s disgusting that the postbox should be out of order at this time of year. Little Oliver and Oscar couldn’t post their letters to Santa so I’ll have to take it out on their primary school teacher in the morning when I drop them off in my ugg boots and VW T-Roc.

It’s all due to this osterity. Wouldernt have happened under Corbin. It’s disgusting. The milkman was late this morning. Same reason.

I've heard of this issue before. best thing she can do is this:
    • switch the box off
    • switch the TV off
    • unplug from the wall
    • remove hdmi cable
    • remove power cable
    • find the original sky box packaging
    • wind the cables up and put in the packaging
    • place the sky box in the packaging.
    • log on to her Sky account
    • use the contact us link
    • cancel sky subscription.
    • await sky collecting the box
    • because she's obviously too ******* stupid to have a Sky contract.

This post obviously got people talking, after all everyone hates tossers in 4x4s parking badly. Posting this is bad enough but the comments are great.

This is one of the replies. Bet this womans used this excuse before for parking like a ****.

"I really wish people would take a less judgemental tone. I bet if someone in a clapped out volvo committed the same parking faux pas as these 2. And all this just because it was a Range Rover. What happened to not judging people? They could have lost their eldest in the Helmand Province and are making a mad dash to pick up emergency bits for their other child suffering a melt down god knows where - so they’ve parked badly in their fear and worry. The clapped out Volvo drivers could also be these people. I’m utterly ashamed to read the comments here. Where’s the humanity"

Poor people rushing off to M&S in grief.

Made fun of Joaquin Phoenix’s cleft lip scar. Taking the piss out of someone’s birth defect ain’t nice but I find an apology to the ‘cleft community’ so insincere that its funny.

Would be funny if the £30,000 threshold was a UK government imposed rule, but it's not, it's imposed by the EU for non EU citizens and now up for review.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51278298

One of the benefits of leaving the EU is the ability to grant immigration according to skills & needs rather than an arbitrary salary threshold which discriminates based on country of origin. Of course whether the government produces a well thought out workable policy is another matter.

Personally I'd like to see salaries rise if people can't afford to take low paid jobs, rather than rely on importing cheap labour which invariably is taken advantage of.

I can sort of see why you've come to that conclusion but I don't think that's what the article says.

You may be right. I can't actually find anything to back up the imposition and I may be confusing it with another regulation. I do still think we should be able to vary/drop any cap according to need.
I'd like it to be easier for non-eu immigration if there is a requirement for their skills. I appreciate that the brexit stereotype is for it to prevent immigration.

But this is one for the politics section, don't want to drag this excellent thread off topic.

"I braved Sainsburys at Trickets Cross today and wished I hadn't. They have chosen this busy time to do a complete store refit and move everything around. It took me 4 times longer to go round as I couldn't find most of the things I was after.

Don't visit if you don't know the new layout and are in a hurry. Stock levels were good as nobody can find anything."

You've been warned. Stocks are good but a change in store layout makes it impossible to navigate for all but the educated.

She doesn’t want a wood or metal drill, she wants an electric one. Sensible. I can’t imagine a drill made of wood would be very durable.
