RC said in the match thread that conceding 5 goals in 18 minutes was probably the biggest humiliation in the history of sport. I've searched my feelings and can't think of a bigger one. Eddie The Eagle wasn't very good but tried, that Eric The Eel guy couldn't actually swim. Even Burton Albion got to 57 minutes before conceding 5 against them. Are any others worse? England losing 5-0 to that ****** Aussie team in The Ashes in 2015? Ronnie O'Sullivan losing to a pub player in the Snooker a few months ago? I'm struggling.
I was playing cricket for my school vs the teachers. The headmaster flashed a square cut in my direction. Went straight through my hands and hit me in the face. It's up there.
Nope, unfortunately when you google ‘football embarrassing scores’ Saturday’s result is at the top On the plus side, the Cup Final result is probably now deemed perfectly acceptable
Natasha Zvereva losing 6-0 6-0 to Steffi Graff in twenty eight minutes in the Roland Garros Final in 1989 (?) Me losing to the hideous Debbie James (I can't spell Schauermann) in the Broxbourne VW Ratings final in the same year. I was so poor I gave my runners up cheque back to the club. I loathed Debbie. In a tournament in Spain my doubles partner slipped and was concussed so had to withdraw. Everyone was sympathising apart from Debbie. She just said "good, she's in my half of the draw".
John Terry being arrogant enough to put himself up for the winning penalty in the CL Final, just to promptly fall on his ar*e and go on to lose.
Embarassing but a one off event from one player We had 90 minutes of embarrassment from 11 players. Elite, supposed top level, players. Paid a lot of money. Not ashamed at all for the fans or professionally. In one of the most watched and reported sporting competitions in the world. Even Brazils huge defeat to Germany in the world cup wasn't such a surrender.
There’s no way getting smashed by City is anywhere near as humiliating as getting utterly destroyed while the entire world is watching, in your home World Cup.

Amazing! Only Spuds. They really do think they’re something special, their indignation when we won the league ahead of them was of my favourite things about that season. I remember reading a blog on the fightingcock website about how they were the true champions that year. I’ll have a look for it later. Who came third in a two horse race? Tottenham Hotspurs.
https://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/2016/04/the-truth-about-fairytales/ Might not fit into ‘Sporting humiliations’ but it’s definitely one of the most embarrassing things ever written.
Preston Preston I have no ******* idea what league they are in league 1,2 maybe championship ???? After 20 minutes not 5-0 down
Preston are infinity times better than us We are a pathetic ******* laughing stock. I give up We deserve relegation
Oxford 4 West Ham 0, last night. Prem team two divisions above the opposition and expected to win, not just beaten by a goal or on penalties, but had a good thrashing. Man City 6 Chelsea 0, last season. Beating a fellow top six side by that amount is worse than beating the bottom side 8-0. Oh, and Arbroath 36, Bon Accord 0, back in 1885.
Apparently Mctavish Mctavish's sporan was offside for the 28th goal but VAR gave the goal. It's not just us that suffers
I'd say this is a pretty big sporting humiliation. https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews/status/1177203706028285954
Or '7o77enham' as I saw on twitter last night. At least we are no longer recipients of the most humiliating defeat this season. Ours wasn't at home with four goals scored by an ex-Luton player.
A special trophy should be awarded to the loser of Spurs v Watford. The North Circular Relegation Trophy?
Australia 31 American Samoa 0 - World Cup qualifier in 2001. The scoreline wasn't really the biggest humiliation though - 19 of the American Samoa squad couldn't play because they didn't have passports, and the U20 side that was asked to step up couldn't because their players all had school exams that day. The Aussies were humiliated because they only scored 31 goals against a team of kids, most of whom had never played a full 90 minute match before.
Japan losing 145-17 at the 1995 World Cup. I remember seeing some of the Japanese players being swatted off the AB runners like a buffalo swishing off flies from their backs. To be fair to them they never gave up and they have come an awfully long way since then.
Joe Bugner losing his titles to Jack Bodell (famous for a 64 second defeat by Jerry Quarry). Personally I thought the home defeat by Yeovil more humiliating than our thrashing by Man City.
