https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-49662132 Nothing for us to worry about surely? I mean spending 6 mil on Obbi Oulare hasn't a single hint of dodginess at all has it?
I can see why we spent 6m on Oulare - he was built like a brick outhouse, not slow and had shown a decent amount of promise as an 18 year old (even racking up some U21 caps for Belgium in the process), however he hasn't done anything of note in the last 4 years, so instead I'm more amazed we managed to recoup £2.5m-£3m in selling him.
With the huge loan fees we definitely got for him, we probably made money on the big lump. Plus, I know crafty Gino will have a sell-on clause in there somewhere. Easy money. (Sarcasm)
I hope that's not where the fraud/money laundering is happening though. Buy too high then loan back the net spend. Of course our owners would never do this. Right?
All written off as a diminishing asset/tax loss anyway. They are covered either way in the grand scheme of things.
There's a couple of this Belgian fraud stories about at the moment as Mike Ashley's in dispute (VAT).
