I liked JG, but he lost his way. QSF's style is ultra dull, but survival is a must for the financial security/future of Watford FC. Relegation would leave us in freefall.
I think he could be under pressure by the time we play Sheff Utd.....and I'm serious about that. Could be a must win game for him.
We’ve got a month of games against teams much better than us, he’s going to have to try and grind something out against all of them, whatever happens it won’t be pretty. It wouldn’t be fair to judge him on wether he learnt from his first spell and a better squad will change things until the October games.
I don't necessarily agree with this, it all depends if the owners are in it for the long haul or not. If relegation meant they’d lose interest and give up on us then yes. We’re ****ed. If they wanted to get us back into the PL, which would be the entirely sensible thing for them to want to do then I don’t see why we’d be in freefall. Yes it would set us back and we’d lose a lot of good players, but we’d be as well placed to get promoted again as any other club.
How many teams relegated from the Premier League thought they would be straight back up? We would have the parachute payments, but we may need them to pay the massive debts. There are rumours that the Pozzo family are looking to sell or at least listening to any offers. Perhaps they feel that they have done all they can. They have done a great job, but the wheels seem to be wobbling a touch.
I’m It necessarily saying we’d go straight back up, but I see no reason why we’d go into free fall either, that doesn’t really make any sense. I’d say we’d be better placed than anyone to go back up but of course that’s by no means a given for any club big small rich or poor. The Pozzos are smart businessmen, I can’t see them selling an asset at the point it’s value has just been dramatically slashed. I couldn’t even see a dumb businessman doing that, it makes no sense. A buyer would also be far harder to find as a championship club, it makes far more sense for them to at least spend a few seasons trying to get us back up and then sell us.
This isn’t the first time you’ve told the ‘Pozzo’s looking to sell’ story but you’re yet to ever back it up. I asked last time you told it but no response yet? Massive debts??
They are interested in selling the club. Not to say they will, but they will listen offers. We have massive debts.
Again, you keep saying this. Based on what? The only thing loosely linked to them selling was the FT article a while back, but that seemed more like a play for investment in the club, rather than a full sale.
I didn't waste my time writing to them. I just used my time to annoy the elite members of this forum. If you think that the Pozzo family are not open to offers, then fine. I think they are open to offers and have had offers. Burnsy feels that we don't have any debts. I have a bag of magic beans. I hope he buys them off me.
I wouldn’t say we have massive debts. The owners lend us money and charge the club interest, that’s likely to be to do with tax efficiency as much as anything else. The fact that we’re in debt to the owner doesn’t really mean a lot, they’re in it for the long haul until they decide to sell at which point the loans will be repaid. I’m in massive debt if you count my mortgage, luckily my net assets are greater than the debt. It’s the same with most businesses and individuals throughout the world.
Are they? Where is it reported that they've said this. I'm sure that anybody would listen to offers if they own a football club but that doesn't mean they are looking to sell. I'm not looking to sell my car but I'm always prepared to listen to offers. I don't think are debts are that bad and are being managed. Our assets outweigh the debt which is how a lot of companies work I believe
That is common knowledge regarding investment. The family has touted for investment. No idea if it comes with a % loss of ownership of Watford FC or simply repayment against other Pozzo interests. Premier League status is vital.
That isn’t backing it up. It’s about as informative as me saying Watford are interested in signing Lionel Messi.
This feels like the same forum “common knowledge” that reported Villa were unable to sign anybody about a week before they bought half the planet.
