Let's Back Javi

Despite the poor start to the season, Javi Gracia is still our coach and still the man who led us to only our second ever cup final.

Tomorrow's game is massive, given the tough run of fixtures which follow and we can't afford to have any negativity around the club. We all need to pull together.

There will be plenty of time for recriminations, so for now, until 2pm when the team is announced and we all realise that the ****head is just gonna go down with his stupid 4-2-2-2 and his favourites ship, then we need to back Javi, before hurling abuse at him the moment we see Kiko and Dawson step onto the pitch!

You're right. This isn't the time for mindless abuse and negativity. Instead, we should all contemplate quietly while we patiently construct effigies of Javi to burn at 5pm tomorrow.

    Love this.

A sellout away support singing their 14 flights of stairs effected hearts out for 90 bloody minutes. Get behind the boys!

Unless they are shooting towards us in the first half. Or losing. Then stay silent. Like normal.

I wonder if half the players are aware that some fans want Javi out? If you don't look at the forum or twitter then you're going to be completely oblivious to it - our fans are either quiet on match day if we're losing or waving their flags if we're 6-0 down, must be great being a Watford player, no pressure what so ever.

Half our fans sang ‘we want you to stay’ to Marco Silva while he was sulking his way to another defeat with little care in the world.

    You be the judge.

Crazy to not be backing the manager at this point. The anti Javi supporters have barely been able to contain themselves since before the season began. Fanboys who need a more glamourous coach to adore imo.

Fact is he is a competent coach who gets a lot out of his resources. If he doesn’t sort out our defensive howlers soon, his time will be up sure enough. For now we may as well back him. A new coach will have the same squad to construct a back line from so be careful what you wish for.

I think that's a pretty fair assesnent moog . Was the cup win the calm before the storm? Has he learnt 4 2 2 2 is not going to cut it with our rotten backline?

4 3 3 or the diamond with Janmatt, Sarr starting. Welbeck sub for Gray later on if needed. Make subs BEFORE 70 mins.

Anything less then on his bike unless we don't lose.

NOT the diamond...4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 would suit us much better now we have a real wide player in Sarr; the diamond was why we were so hopelessly open vs West Ham.

All this stuff from punters on these forums about Janmaat being the saviour is such nonsense. . It’s not that long ago that lots of people on here were slating Janmaat for his defensive liabilities and saying he should never be picked ever again for the team and that Femenia was the answer.

You're right that Janmaat is better in attack than defence. And not wholly reliable.

    He does, however, occasionally defend.

Kiko is really a midfielder still.

I hope we get rid of him ASAP so I can get on with booing the new manager and calling for his head after 3 games .

I will be livid if he (Javi) line up the same way and the favourites of the players. I will typing many boo into the shout box if bbc scores says on my phone and Newcastle have scored the goal and win at tbe end.

    Sad

Yep. I’d personally go for Janmaat “in this moment” but my point is that their both alright and neither is world class or the reason we’ve not had a good start to the season.

Feel like that hits most of the points we're discussing on here, to be honest. Given that it's written by someone other than the Guardian's resident tame 'Orn, Steinberg's done a pretty good job of determining the issues we're concerned about. The only thing I found annoying was the lack of context in him saying we 'enjoyed finishing 11th', but he even rectified that to some extent later in the article by mentioning how our embarrassing run led to us slipping out of the top half.

Who is on squad watch? If we can get an idea of who travelled in the coach, we can get an idea of the likely team and maybe save any fans from the hassle and disappointment of travelling all the way.

He’s a good coach, but it’s hard to forgive him for taking us to the cup final. I mean what a stupid idea.
