https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...anmaat-could-return-for-premier-league-clash/ Could be back for Leicester. We've missed him, best overall right back.
If a desperate Arsenal are looking for a short term replacement for Bellerin, would a £million+ loan deal for Daryl to the end of the season be a good deal for us?
Honestly going to kill someone if Femenia starts ahead of him again on Saturday. You have all been warned.
Janmaat is looking for a new contract. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/17976380.daryl-janmaat-hoping-new-contract-watford/ I know he's part of the crappiest defensive line-up in Watford's history (ok, a little exaggeration there) but he's one of the better players. I wouldn't have a problem if we offered him a new three year deal.
Guess he must have done some sort of ligament damage which we never heard about? Sounds like he won't be back any time soon.
I wonder what we'll do regarding his contract? I'd imagine the club had one eye on getting some money for him this month but his injury has ruined that. So in true Watford style I await the news of his 3 year contract in the coming weeks.
Having Mariappa as anything other than backup is a poor state of affairs (my views are well known). However as you say Janmaat is no longer fit enough to contribute so hopefully the club release him in the summer and recruit. I doubt anything so sensible and obvious will be done though and Holebas and Janmaat will be given one year extensions.
Janmaat is only 30. Is his injury really career threatening? I'd keep him for 2 more years if he's not broken. I've always rated him. He offers more of a goal threat than our strikers.
He permanently broken though....great to have him in the 25 as long as you only need 5 games out of him a season in the 6 weeks he's fit.
I guess he was killing a few minutes of his excessive "down time". He probably clipped his nails and got himself a couple of new tats the same week before binge-watching the wire box-set.
It's strange, he started 32 games and 37 games for Newcastle in the previous seasons to joining us, so pretty much starting week in week out almost. Since joining us he's managed 63 starts over 4 seasons - he's a decent back up if he can manage 15 or so games a season. It's a shame because he's clearly a very good player when fully fit.
The trouble is you need a "back up" to be available when required, like Mariappa is. Janmaat is very rarely available to be back up.
Janmaat and Bachmann have signed new deals. Janmaat until 2022 and Bachmann until 2024. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...hand-new-deals-daniel-bachmann-daryl-janmaat/
Yep. Him and masina would tear up that league. Sadly there is no chance of masina staying when we drop.
Why do we persist with extending the contracts of ageing players?? Janmaat is a decent player and this could just be to get some money for him in the summer, but he's picking up more injuries and we should be looking for a younger right back this summer. If we stay up we could now be stuck with two 30 year olds at right back who on their day are fine, but their days have been in very short supply this season.
