According to WD18 is Jose Bordalas from Getafe.

Already held talks with the club allegedly and we are on the brink of sacking Javi.

    Let's see I guess.

They'll definitely have someone lined up. Gino won't like paying out compensation for 4 years of contract though.

Looks like he worked wonders with Getafe. Promotion followed by qualifying for the Europa League.

If it was any club other than Watford I wouldn't be surprised to see him go, however for all our reputation of changing managers Gino doesn’t seem to like changing mid year

I’m still on the fence but if we don’t beat Coventry in the week and Newcastle on Saturday think I will be edging closer to the Javi our camp

Music to Foulquier's ears. Come 5th in La Liga, come back, not even in Gracia's plans.

I agree that you have to give JG until Newcastle, even if that's ends in a draw I would think any decision to sack could then be justified.

It get's easily forgotten but he is the second most successful manager in the last 40 years & some of the abuse here is disrespectful & unwarranted.

Won’t make any difference to anybody but the fans , last thing we need to see now is an even weaker side getting stuffed by Coventry. Think we could all do with a boost of seeing somebody in a watford shirt score a goal and somebody in the watford goal keep a clean sheet

Yeah, but he could at least attempt to rotate them a bit.

We have Janmaat (who's is miles better than Femenia), Masina (who looks pretty pants but is potentially better than OAP Holebas given how he's started this season) and Kabasele (who is hit and miss, but very good on his day and would add much needed pace at the back) all just sat there being completely ignored in favour of Javi's little favourites.

Does that account have any credibility at all? Seems bizarre some random bloke on Twitter would get info before literally any reputable news channel.

Agree about rotating but the options ain't great, though how Janmaat isn't playing I just don't know, Kabs can be brilliant and incredibly stupid, often in the same game so fits right in. Does the club trust him to play? If Masina is Holebas's replacement then play him otherwise whats the point in him.

We need a manager who like 3 central midfielders to i) protect our **** CBs better, and ii) compete with other sides playing 3 in the middle

Looks like the extended contract curse is a thing. Such a shame if we do get rid of Javi because he seems like a really nice guy and it’s clear the players like him. On top of that, we had an amazing season with him last season.

However, recent form show’s that he may have perhaps peaked that season and it may all go downhill from now on if we persist with him.

3 games into the season seems quite early to justify a sacking but Palace did the same with De Boer and it arguably saved them from what was looking like a tragic season for them - we’re currently going through the same god-awful start to a season.

Really? We sacked Beppe Sannino 5 games in to the 14/15 season.

As for Jose Bordalas, took over Getafe 7 games in to the season with them being 2nd bottom of the 2nd division, then took them to 3rd and promotion via the playoffs. Subsequent La Liga finishes of 8th and then 5th (!) last season is very impressive.

By all accounts his style is a very negative, defensive 4-4-2, relying on keeping things tight at the back and nicking the odd goal on the counter-attack. It wasn't popular at Alaves as the fans wanted a more attractive style, and it was one of the reasons he got the sack despite doing well there. However, that seems to be what we ideally need again - I'd certainly at the moment take a few 1-0 wins while playing ugly negative football, rather than what we're doing currently which is playing open, attractive football but getting spanked.

A system based on the counter would be ideal given the players we have.

And once again please be mindful of the language you are using. One it is disrespectful. Two, children also read these forums. Some of the terminology used is over the top never mind incredibly petulant.

The media will have an absolute field day, more so than ever I would say.

As ever though, they won’t bother to scratch below the surface. If you look at our record stretching back into last season the decision would be entirely justifiable if it were any other club.

Will be interesting to see what jug ears says, if anything at all. He had egg on his face initially after his comments about Silva, but, long term he might argue he’s justifiably been proven right.

Lets take Wagner the ex Huddersfield manager. He is very proactive and he resigns before he is sacked. Knows the Premier League and is loved by the media!

Psh, if you believe that you'll believe anything. It is (and was) a very polite form of being sacked (similar to when managers sometimes leave "by mutual agreement", when it's clear who made the decision first).

I guess he was lying when he basically said that the players didn't respect him then?

I remember the way he created on the pitch after the Huddersfield game, the guy was furious despite the result and comeback.

He resigned but I doubt Gino tried and change his mind.

Once it had got to the situation that the players no longer respected him then knowing the Pozzos his days were likely clearly numbered regardless of what Beppe may or may not have decided. There were noises about him possibly being replaced one way or another before he resigned, the writing was clearly on the wall for him whatever the semantics of how he eventually left.
