I'm saddened by the vitriolic, non-supportive, ''manager out!!!' after three games' et al stance taken by many of the match attendees who post on here.

Do you feel the same way?

Getting to an occasional game, home or away, was nirvana. Whatever Division. Whatever position in the table. Whomsoever the manager/owner was. Passionate, unequivocal VOCAL support was given!!! And nothing to do with 'happy clappy' either.

Being further away somewhat isolates you from the emotional aspect. Someone who has got up early, traveled, had a few jars, been surrounded by pissed up unhappy fans and then had a miserable journey home is more likely to react emotionally than someone like me, who rolled out of bed, made a cup of tea and sat down to watch the game while enjoying his first brew of the day.

It's understandable that people lash our when they've often made a whole day of it, even if I wish some of the discourse was a bit more measured.

I now live in Texas. I went from attending games to now I am a beast armchair fan. I let my TV know exactly how I’m feeling and how I, on FM have achieved more than Javi with the same players. Basically he has an easy job, he’s just lost it. Sending Femenia and Holebas forward to provide width is suicide, yet he does it anyway.

We've been worked out. End of. Whatever formation that was today it isn't working. Plus Hughes hang your head for making no effort, in trying to make a challenge, leading to their second goal. No effin heart at all. Hurt them, hurt yourself, just stop the attack.

I don't have the luxury, unfortunately, of seeing games unless they are pub Sky/BT. Whilst not disagreeing with the 'suicide' analogy, my thoughts are more about the 'instant gratification' generation that 'support' us...

I’m an exiled ‘Orn, and I don’t think it changes my opinion on things, despite being a little more ‘detached’.

I will always get behind the players and support the club, but I think the writing has been on the wall for some time regarding our defence and all round lack of options to change things in games

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I think Gracia has established far too much goodwill (IMO) with a lot of our supporters for the cup run, although the absolute embarrassment of the final seems to have been completely glossed over.

For the first time in a long time, for me it’s not very fun supporting Watford. I think something needs to change - look at the end of last season and start of this, and were in bottom of the table, cannon fodder, relegation form.

As an exile (in Scotland) for 35 years and now a returned prodigal I've seen it from both sides. When I was living away I didn't get involved in much of the match detail on here. Just observed really. Now I get to see all home games I'm probably more critical and definitely more forensic, but hopefully in a constructive way.

I suspect that the average age on here is way lower than the average age of our overall fan base. I suspect that there is a strong positive correlation between knee-jerk negativity and youth. I suspect that there is a strong positive correlation between the length of time a poster has supported our club (or lack of it) and negativity and 'entitlement'.

In short then, the younger you are the more likely you are to do knee-jerk negativity, the older you are the more likely you are to do 'considered', wherever you happen to be located at the time.

I live in Melbourne and i havent posted on here in a very long time. But the pre season optimism went out the window when we didnt strengthen where we needed to strengthen. We needed a whole new back line and Dawson isnt the answer.
I'm really worried that we're going to have a worse start to the season than palace did a few years back. If we dont pick up a point at newcastle i dont think we'll have anything on the baord by the time the 1st international break comes around, and i dont want that as copping grief from aussies about your football team is the worst. Especially if England lose the ashes too. Then i cope it on 2 fronts.

Just naturalize. Then you get to celebrate the winner regardless of the side that wins the Ashes. ;)

You are a poster who was banned for political vitriol in the politics section after drinking too much. Maybe lay off the youth?

Ha! And your point is what? Other than irrelevant.

My observation referred to what happens in this section. Not the political one. And it wasn't 'laying into' anybody. It was merely an observation. Do you think it was an incorrect observation?

My point is you are a hypocrite. Quite possibly younger posters are quicker to turn on the team (I’m not sure but you may be correct). But it is a fact you are aggressive and negative on this very forum and you certainly aren’t “considered” sometimes.

I think you'll find that your accusation is entirely incorrect since my return. Ancient history mate. You've got the tense wrong. And I'm not sure what is hypocritical about the point I was making seeing as you appear to agree with it!

Yep though, I once-upon-a-time did indeed tend to be a bit o.t.t. (and most definitely ill-considered on occasion) in the politics section and got banned for said crimes. How is that relevant to me suggesting that the younger posters on here, with less experience of supporting WFC, are more likely to do 'instant negativity'? A suggestion b.t.w., not an accusation. I fail to see any hypocrisy in that at all. You're conflating two entirely different issues.

This is a thread for exiles. Seeing as I was once an exile for a considerable time I thought it relevant to post concerning my differing perceptions around supporting WFC from far afield and now more locally and attending all home fixtures. So local now in fact that I sent my post from the Red Lion! And I also thought it relevant to extend that consideration to how younger and older supporters might differ in their view of our current predicament and suggest that age and longevity of support was an issue too.

You're very clearly attempting to play the man and not the ball here. In addition, as far as I'm aware, you've never been an exile (I could be wrong on that of course) so am not entirely sure what you're doing on this thread in the first place. It's clearly marked FAO: Orns in exile only... (I'd crave indulgence for an ex-exile). You've certainly not posted anything of relevance or specific to exiles.

Have a morbid obsession with serial killers. Watch får to many documentaries and read crazy amounts on the subject. I can honestly say that for me it's probably the best series ever.

I'm in Vancouver and I see every PL game we play (but not all Cup games) This gives a slightly different perspective to actually being at game. You don't see as much of the overall picture and formations etc. After the last two games I'm less worried about JG and tactics than I am about the quality of players. What I've seen is not a PL quality team. Flashes of talent but that is all.

    Exiled in Texas here.

I've watched all 3 games. We've slowly gotten better with each game from an attacking perspective but we are so vulnerable at the back. When we are defending a team that is slowly building an attack we don't look too bad and keep our shape OK - this was the foundation for last season. Our achiles heel is when teams break away faster against us. Opposition teams know they can get diagonal balls out wide and our wide players just can't deal with it.

It might not be a popular opinion but what we need to do right away is be tighter and not get beaten. It might mean that the football will be a lot duller to watch but that's how it needs to be.
