Well it’s taken me 2 hours to regain composure This is what Gino should be saying to Javi What I don’t understand is that in 80% of the pitch we look at least average to good , but in both goal areas we are absolutely ***** , we can’t defend our goal area and whenever the ball is crossed into their goal area we never have any ******* in it. Fair play to Gerry D he looked like he was trying hard Fair play to Gray good goal and good cross to Hughes Small tip to every other ****er on the pitch , if you can’t score many goals don’t give away a penalty in the first 3 mins I use to be a fan of Hughes , Cleverley and Foster but rapidly coming to the conclusion they can all **** off I’m not even mentioning the name of our new disaster in defence but he can **** off I’m not sure if Doucs can **** off or not but certainly suggests that he keeps his head down Last year we would have put away four of five of today’s chances and probably won, but that’s no ******* use to us this year.
Not much to add that hasn't already been said, but here's an extra one that I don't think has been mentioned - leadership. Capoue is not a leader - he lets his head drop, he almost gives up when we're losing, he doesn't talk to the ref in the way that Deeney does. There is no leader(ship) in defence. I can't decide whether the issue is the quality of our players - mainly defence - or the attitude of our management/ coaches and its influence. If we got rid of Javi, who could sort this out?
Maguire and Van Dijk have proven that there is resale value in CBs, so the Pozzos can **** off with that view and invest in them in January. However I feel the damage might well be done by then.
Well does he usually not go down to the tunnel area after games? Someone will get getting sacked on Monday...or Tuesday as its a Bank holiday.
Javi’s replacements replacement is already picked, neither is fat Sam Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wish I could be this sensible and rational. Makes so much sense and I completely agree. But 2 hours ago I lost my head. Great post bud.
No, as in the stopped him from being anywhere near Javi. My brother was surrounded by Masina and co but when Giraldi went to join them by the dugout at FT he wasn’t allowed on the pitch. He mouthed off and they called more security over.
The defence is letting us down. Cathcart toward the end of last season looked good for the knackers yard. Dawson is probably not the answer. We might have a game or two where we bury 4 of those chances but we will rarely keep a clean sheet or even come close. If you cant keep the score down and fluff in front of goal theres only one result. Not had a natural scoring centre forward since Ighalo. We've played well in the last 2 games and still lost, which I think is more worrying than playing ugly and getting a couple of points.
No, we had had about 20 shots by then, but only a couple on target. That is a shocking return. But it won't continue. Well, we will see who is right.
My thoughts: Welbeck and Sarr have to play at least some of the Cup game next week to get their fitness up so they can start games as soon as possible. We need to use that game to improve confidence too. Don’t fill the ream with young players who have no realistic chance of playing league games. The form of both full backs has really dropped, even since the end of last season. Janmaat and Masina should play next week. We really let West Ham off the hook at 1-1 in the second half. The start of our attacks is so slow that the opposition have all the time they need to get their players in position. Capoue is number 1 culprit in this. Why did the referee ignore the new rule about players subbed leaving the pitch at the nearest point? I also thought there was a new rule that play was automatically stopped when the ball hit the ref and was restarted with an uncontested drop-ball. It happened in the first half but he played on. There was no indication about VAR reviews taking place on the screen. Was this the club’s fault? If so, that’s poor and is not helping the fans at the game. Finally, all three teams we’ve lost to so far have looked unremarkable and have had to do very little to beat us.
Giraldi also tried to get to the dugout 10mins before the end of the game. Security stopped him and when he tried to push past another security guy cane over. My brother just sent a picture of the altercation but the file is too large to post, I guess Deeney is in the background somewhere.
We still kept possession of the ball after it hit the ref, so no drop ball is given. The new IFAB rule is: "If the ball touches the referee (or another match official) and goes into the goal, team possession changes or a promising attack starts, a dropped ball is awarded."
I'm honestly not aware of the rules involving dugout approaches (if any). Is he not allowed to do that, or was he being deliberately excluded? Was it just an overzealous security guard (not like that would ever happen...). Seems bloody odd on the face of it.
I think the ref played the advantage when it hit him as we were still on the attack. Only stops it if the team lose possession because of it.
I genuinely bow to your ability to write a reasoned post after today’s result and hope that you are right. I definitely agree about the fine margins @ 1:1 i couldn’t believe we hadn’t scored 4 or 5 , I kept watching us drive forward getting so close but failing to put it away. If we had luck on our side it could easily have been 4:3 and we would have been talking about what a fantastic match it was.
Some really old West ham fan, I mean really old, was chatting to a Watford supporter on the tube back, he summed it up, "yeah, your defence isn't very good".
It would improve your credibility if people thought you were related to HB1. But, it's up to you if you want to throw away that golden opportunity.
What is infuriating is that in the cup we will play deadbeats like Prodl and Gomes who add nothing and have no development value whatsoever.
Not sure of the rules but he was deliberately excluded that’s a fact. He wasn’t happy and made it known so another security officer came over to stop him from getting by.
Another depressing defeat but even if we are top of our game which we are clearly not west ham not an easy game. Ridiculously open at the back for the penalty but credit to the team in not letting heads drop with a good performance for the first hour and a deserved equaliser. Defensively though we are very poor and the Dawson/Cathcart combination showing what is , a slow old couple of war horses . Kabasele surely had to return. Also mystifying that Gracia left his subs so late. Pozzo can't be happy that Sarr only thrown on with 10 mins to go. So good possession today but trying to walk the ball into the net, no one seemed to want to shoot when in good position. Good to see Cleverly fit again and thought Hughes was pick of the bunch when he was more central Worrying times and don't want Gracia to go as he is a good fit for the club but with results as they are he might not be with us much longer Worrying times and another week won't be watching Motd
That was painful. I was like "do it now before they score a third. Come on. Make the sub. Make the sub now. They are going to score a third before these guys come on. MAKE THE SUB!!!!! MAAAAAKE THEEEEE SUUUUUUUUUB. Oh they've scored a third."
We had four strong tackling midfielders out there. The problem was we kept losing possession with too many players up the field. Our defence doesn’t look great, but there isn’t much they can do if the midfield allows the opposition to simply stride through. Our inability to keep the ball and our pressing game meant that the team was knackered midway through the second half. At key moments we didn’t close down and soft goals resulted.
Replace Dawson bring back Mariappa and our defence will improve. I said this after week 1. He makes the odd error i know and some people h8 him but he's quicker of mind than Dawson and the Mariappa/Cathcart defence is our best of an average pair.. We were mid table defence last season now we relegation defence. And Femenia needs to improve as well Gracia should be telling him.
