For all the talk that ‘Gino can’t compete’ in today’s transfer market, the signs keep coming that even if he could - he shouldn’t. Leicester priced out of a move for Nathan Ake - as Bournemouth rate him at being worth over £75m according to SSN. Even more evidence that even though he’s not worth it, Doucoure should be going nowhere for a penny under at least £60m.
I would bet there’s something, not in black and white but loosely based around a certain fee for CL clubs. Thing is, that may have been say - £45m - last summer? With the way fee’s have moved on, Gino would perhaps not be happy sticking to that price. Not really sure.
Hence my point that it may not be black and white and more of a verbal agreement... Release clauses seem very ‘un-Gino’ when we are told that he always get top dollar etc etc.
Yes though I'd expect there would be some form of agrement in there to convince Doucs to sign a long contract.
I am hearing that we are going to buy a 17 year old regarded as the next Pele for £1m. Not sure his name and no one has heard of him
Arsenal interested in season long loan deal for Eddie Nketiah. Would he be a better prospect than Success (who we could push along to Udinese on loan this year) Would we want to improve a player for one our rivals though?
Really don’t think we’re looking to sign strikers, we have too many as it is (regardless of ability). Okaka will likely be allowed to leave without needing to be replaced. If any go after that, then maybe. But 4 strikers is enough - given we are getting 2 more in the next 12 months.
Rooney to Derby is the weirdest one yet this summer... Followed by the strong rumour that Coutinho is going to Arsenal on loan...
The Coutinho one is very odd indeed - seems Arsenal are hoping that the mantra "attack is the best form of defence" turns out to be true.
Oddest for me is why Sheffield United targeted Lys Mousset and thought "yeah, £10m seems reasonable for a striker that has a record of 0.05 goals per game"
No. A Modern Romance fan "Ay Ay Ay Ay Mousset Ay Ay Ay Ay Mousset Ay Ay Ay Ay Mousset To help the day go by" etc
Harry Wilson joining Bournemouth on loan. Wouldn’t have minded him here but Liverpool and B’mouth seem to be linked in terms of transfers.
In fairness, if we took Wilson on loan, we’d just be developing him for Bournemouth to buy him next summer. At least they have to pay for the privilege now.
Bit boring but - Leeds are in the market for a striker after loosing Roofe to Anderlecht .... a season long loan for Success could be good for both clubs ?
Time for a new left back. Holebas had what looks like a great Indian summer to his career last season. Doesn't look like he will maintain that level. Can see why we were after Rose or another LB. If we don't trust Masina, or even if he is decent, LB is becoming a priority.
That is now the new area of concern. Both wing/full backs and one more central defender who can head a ball. The rest of the team is good enough for a mid-table finish.
I was hoping Dawson would be the guy who can head a ball; and any subsequent CB signed would have a bit of pace.
Posted this back in May. He's just scored a pretty good goal for Villa; first Everton have conceded this season.
Nicolas Tagliafico would have been a nice fit at left back. Cost Ajax peanuts and is a such a solid defender and very decent when required going forward. Just cost a little more than Masina as well who needs a run in the team as he was no mug at Bologna.
