As usual there will be plenty of managerial casualties throughout the season from the very first weeks right through to January and beyond. Please place news of sackings in this thread rather than creating individual threads for every dismissal.
9th August - Javier Gracia. Gino Pozzo said. "We thank Javi for his service to the club but we feel that the club is losing it's identity as a sacking club and that Javi has been here too long and we are in danger of being described as stable."
Not the Premier league but Jan Siewert has been sacked at Huddersfield - don't think he won a game since taking charge.
One apparently.. vs Wolves. 1 in 19 games. btw this sacking moves Javi to 30th longest serving manager in all the divisions (10th in the Prem) So he's now in the top third. More than half have been in their jobs less than a year.
I can't see how Javi will keep his job if we don't get results against West Ham & Newcastle? In our last 20 League games it reads as follows: 22 points (2nd worst) 25 goals scored (4th worst) 35 goals conceded (worst) It's no longer looking at the last 2 games or even the last 6 games. Over more than HALF a season we've been produced relegation form! His undoing will be not changing the system or players within in it. West Ham (H) Newcastle (A) Has to be a MINIMUM of 4 points surely to keep his job?? Gives us the international break to find his replacement.
Thinking how Gino normally works, he probably wouldn't even need his whole lunch break to find a replacement.
This is true. Probably already has someone lined up after Javi falls on his own sword. A lovely man, was the RIGHT fit for us when Slither was sacked and not only steadied the ship he gave us a brilliant season last season (well 3/4 of it). However, a bit like Sannino, he isn't good enough to take us forwards. We have no excuses with the players we have at our disposal now to not be kicking on and challenging the likes of Neverton, Wolves & Leicester for a top half finish/flirt with top 7. He's undoing all of his great work by not evolving. He's too stubborn and one-dimensional. A bit like Boothroyd towards the end of his reign.
Good post, especially the last bit. For the most part, last year was an exceptional season, especially taking into account the numerous predictions of certain doom before the campaign began. It was massively disappointing how the final 5 or 6 games went, but we were well in the hunt for European football and played some brilliant football for much of the year. All that said, football changes, and teams are always developing. We don’t appear to be doing the same. Opponents know how we’re going to play and they’ve adjusted to nullify our threats. Javi has to adjust his tactical setup to counter this. If he fails to do so, I have no doubt that Gino will act.
Not only do we have a budget old defence, but in Gracia's system half of it is supposed to get up and down the pitch all day overlapping the inverted midfielders. It's total and utter football suicide.
Pochettino gone. Levy escapes blame comparing the budget of Tottenham to the other title pretenders. Has improved young players there no end. Leaves Lo Celso and Ndombele's futures up in the air. He cannot be blamed for what players get up to in the bedroom while others sulk about not getting the transfer they want or that the club refuses to pay the wages they demand. There will be no shortage of takers for Pochettino and his team.
I guess many of the current Spurs squad will be gone before the start of next season. Selling Trippier was a mistake. Typical Arsenal letting Spurs sack their manager first. Mourinho and Spurs, not a great combo IMHO. With West Ham flirting with Benitez, Arsenal will have view options when they sack Emory. Javier Garcia to the end of the season, with Freddie Ljunberg as assistant?
A chance of two entry's in the sack race as well as an ex in the running. The Pozzo's sure can pick 'em.
I think it will be a mad scramble. I think all of them could go before their next games. Next week is going to be Massacre Week.
So many managers on the brink. One bad result away from the sack. Emery, OGS, Snake, Flores, Pellegrini....maybe even Hasenhuttl. I would expect at least 2 of these coaches to be gone this time next week.
Moyes back in ? That might divide the West Ham support but they need something. Haller started the season well but been for a good while as an example of players not living up to the price tag.
Moyes will only accept the job if it is long term contract apparently. Hughton is a WHU fan Cottee said.
The Wet Spam decision is bonkers. They might need a manager but Moyes? Really? Deserve to go down for that total lack of ambition.
Not so sure. Moyes did ok there picking up from Bilics mess, not blindingly brilliant but more than enough then and a repeat would be enough now. If it ends up like QSF of course, then its lovely.
