I think his time is up and he knows this.
No change in the players, the way we play or the end result.
Could be gone by the 5th or 6th game.

If we have the disastrous start to the season I'm now expecting, meaning the first 7 games without a win, and only maybe a couple of draws.....then I think he will be under severe pressure. If our players continue playing with the lack of intensity and desire as they showed today and at the tail end of last season, alarm bells will be ringing for sure.

It was an interesting interview given by Foster with Emma Saunders and Derek Payne. He was very honest and said we just didn't have the intensity. There were too many players thinking we'd just turn up and win.

I think the next few games are going to be tough, even if we do show increased desire, but if we do not improve attitude, it will be inevitable that he'd be gone. Gino just doesn't tolerate this type of malaise for long. I honestly hopes Gracia turns this apparent decline around.

The Pozzo’s won’t spend £35mil on a player for us to be fighting a relegation battle. If we lose the first 5 games he will be sacked and we will be back to where we belong, in the headlines for sacking yet another successful manager. A manager that got us 11th and a Cup final last season, how dare we sack him. I for one am excited.

Looking at our attack today I think the Pozzos are spot on to try and improve the forward line. The argument can equally be said for our defence. We can’t afford to do both. It remains to be seen whether they have spent in the right area.

Whether Dahlberg or Bachmann are good is irrelevant. The club made the idiotic decision to extend Gomes contract and the geriatric is clearly number 2.

People have been posting about the centre backs all summer and get shot down.

    “You’re entitled”
    “Gino is a genius”
    “We don’t have any money”
“Gino is better than all other owners”

Buying Sarr for £35 million is exciting. Is it really what Pozzo needed to do this summer though?

It's relevant, in that if Foster and Gomes aren't good enough, we could have someone who is.

Gracia will figure that out by March I suppose.

We've all seen what good centre backs are being sold at currently. It's just ridiculous. A good centre back, costs more than a decent striker. It's just bonkers.

However, the defence is an area that's been neglected for many years, and it really shows. If you're not solid defensively you've not nothing to build on. After 5 years in the EPL, we really should have a lot better at the back than we actually have. So that is a rare failing of the recruitment team.

Today we looked like a Championship side playing a Premier League team in the FA Cup. Brighton played within themselves, were nice a solid then picked us off in isolated attacks. You end up walking back saying, well that's the quality between us and Premier League clubs. However, this isn't the case, or shouldn't be. We were everyone's dark horses to do well this season and Brighton are everyone's favourite for the drop.

Today the entire team attitude was not right. I hope the embarrassment and professional pride will inspire us, although I think this performance and result will stay with us for a long time. Haunt us even.

We've lost badly at home in other season's though. Remember 1-4 v Huddersfield, 1-4 v West Ham and 0-4 v Bournemouth. But in all those games there were mitigating circumstances, where we were shafted by poor officials. In each of those games we had a player sent off and conceded a soft penalty. No such excuse today though, which is a concern.

Without the prospect of Sarr and Welbeck, I'd be extremely concerned right now. But the good thing is we do have these two players coming in, and I suspect they will transform the look of our attack. It's a shame we played Brighton so early, without our new players, as I'm sure it's the Brighton type sides we would really capitalise against with that potent looking attack.

I have just written on the match thread that bad tactics, the players' bad attitude and the bad level of performance are not new. It is a consistent trend from the back end of last season. I have to say it's the way they throw the towel in when they go behind that grates me most. There is only one man responsible and that is the head coach. He has to get a grip and fast or he will rightly be toast!

Chalobah is not returning from injury in any meaningful way. He has been out of 2 years. People need to stop using Chalobah as a comfort blanket - he is finished.

Garcia said in his interview on 3CR that ‘we knew how Brighton would play with 3 at the back and prepared for it’....by picking Deeney & Gray to lob long balls to?! And then at HT when it was obvious it was getting us nowhere, he simply kept the same system & just swapped Pereyra for GD...that’s the biggest concern. To even start with that system today was idiotic, but to continue with it the whole game was incredible.

Let's look at the recent results from last season carried on to this one. It's clear there is a worrying trend and it's not getting better. I forgot how bad it was.

    Arsenal (h ) 0-1 L
    Huddersfield (a ) 2-1 W
Southampton (h ) 1-1 D (last minute goal preventing another defeat)
    Wolves (h ) 1-2 L
    Chelsea (a ) 0-3 L
    West Ham (h ) 1-4 L
    Man City (Wembley) 0-6 L
    Brighton (h ) 0-3 L

The last 4 results have been real thrashings too.

Looking ahead of the next 6 games, with those last 8 taken into consideration, I think must he must be at risk.

  24. Concerning because it makes no sense. Was last season just luck and he really doesn't know what he's doing?

  25. Jumbolina

    Jumbolina First Team

Yeah. How he didn't change things at half time given the poor performance is a worry. It was very much like Sarri at Chelsea bring a left back on for a left back last season when 0-2 down at home. He knows a way to play but is he really that limited?

I think we have a genuine risk of arriving at the 2nd international break with 2 or 3 points:

    Everton L
    West Ham D
    Newcastle D
    Arsenal D?
    Wolves L
    Man City L

This is why I thought it was so important to have won today's match. Now it looks like a very tall order to get many points before the Sheff Utd home match. We could easily lose all those games, and will do if we play with the same lack of desire shown today. Even if we played with 100% intensity these will be tough matches.

We absolutely need to move on from Deeney. When we feel the need to build around him it negatively effects the whole set up front to back. We need to pension him off and have him as an impact sub if things aren't going to plan.

At last, some one has put their head above the parapet and mentioned Foster. The obvious and very capable replacement is Bachmann. In pre season he did not get enough game time. Against real sociedad Gones was the sub, why?? Gomes is. Now no longer anything but a club interpreter for the incoming striker. Bachman is far better than Gomes and only sentiment keeps Bachman out. Bad move by the current coach.
