12 law changes have been made, most of which have been mentioned in the media for quite a while now.

Last night I was at a match between Mexico and Honduras and I saw some of these changes in action. For instance when Mexico scored one of their coaching staff was booked for an over-exuberant celebration; there was a drop ball which was uncontested; and most obvious was the goal kicks where defenders were waiting in the box to pick up a short goal kick.

Saw a clip on interweb, goalkick. Keeper flicks ball on to head of defender, who heads it back into his arms then keeper gets to punt it up field.

Not a fan of the free kick change - not having attackers in the wall is an advantage for the defenders, why would you reward the defence for committing a foul? Plus it also runs a bunch of my FK routines

Did you see how Liverpool set up for an attacking free kick tonight? They had their own 3 man wall in front of and slightly to the side of the Norwich defensive one.

Did we used to do something like that under GT in the 80s?

I watched the Leeds game last week and there was an uncontested drop ball..

Presume it will be if its anywhere near either goal though!?

Passing the ball around the area will catch a few teams out who get pressed quickly!

They’re uncontested, with the side who had possession given the ball. The only exception is if the ball is in the penalty area when play is stopped, in which case the keeper gets the ball - regardless of which team had possession at the stoppage.

I'm sure tomorrow that we or Brighton would be penalised if either team try it. But when any of the big 6 do it, it will be ignored.

Unfortunately I won't be at the Vic tomorrow but I will be going to Argentina v Honduras instead.

Yeah I think that's how most teams will step-up now. If they were clever though I'd actually do it the other side of the wall - then rush forward as the kick is taken to beat the offside trap. Would obstruct the keeper meaning he cant see the ball being placed, wont be able to adjust the wall etc

if you rush forward you will be penalised for being too near the wall unless you rush early enough and fast enough which may prove difficult or nullify the effect you are trying to have.

You go to the sides rather than at the wall

you'll be offside if you don't move until "as the kick is taken"
