Bassini taking over Bolton?

Honestly if that was a comedy sketch you'd say it was too off the wall to be believable. That mad ******* actually owned our football club!

 

Wow. Honestly where do you start with that?

 

The odd thing about this is the silence from Sullivan. He could put this whole thing to bed by saying he has no idea what Bassini is talking about and has no intention of giving him money. Bolton could then get on with trying to sort something out with the preferred bidders

 

Thing is, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Sullivan somehow is involved and he’s been widely reported that he wants the hotel that’s part of the stadium.

Quite why, I don’t know. The stadium is on the outskirts of Bolton and I doubt is worth that much to a multi-millionaire. Unless he sees BWFC’s demise as unstoppable and thinks the land is cheap now comparable to what he can sell it for when the club downsizes. But I still don’t think there’s loads of money in it for him given his current wealth and the risks of being involved with Bassini.

We know Bassini is mad. And we know none of this is genuine on his part. But let’s just say in some parallel universe that what he is saying is true - why is he waving around bits of paper that would be highly confidential to anyone who wants to see them?

As the local Bolton reporter said on Twitter, if anything Bassini said was true - why wouldn’t he be sat with lawyers stopping this going through?

He turned up with a couple of minders and a PA in Range Rover supposedly. Someone is paying them.
He keeps mentioning he is in property. I would think someone should be able to investigate that. What’s bizarre is he is making all these claims regarding funds etc - and no one is disproving them, despite the obvious scepticism.

 

Searching for him on the Companies House website shows he's a director of 3 companies.

It might be a Statutory Demand for money Bas claims Bolton owe him due to the failed takeover. Tactic used so maybe he can get some compensation from it & they will pay him to go away.

Will hopefully get thrown out by the judge because Bolton will successfully appeal it.

Bolton fans think he and the previous owner are in cahoots.

Thought seems to be they are playing up to the impression they are at ‘loggerheads’ but are working towards a common goal.

Anderson sells the club to Bassini a few weeks ago, but the administrators don’t buy into it - they find a preferred buyer and Bassini produces paperwork of some sort to say he bought the club and it can’t be sold - and the court seems to think that has a level of truth to it.

Quite a few BWFC fans think this either kills the club off as they will be expelled before its sorted - or they end up with Bassini as owner and all bets are off.

Still inconclusive according to the Bolton News blog. The sale of the club can proceed. Bassini may come back at a later date.

 

I'm not sure that that is correct - he isn't being allowed near a football club. Bassini's court order blocking the sale has been adjourned until 2nd September - meaning that, if the proposed sale to Football Ventures can be completed before then, Bassini is where he belongs - out of the picture.

That would would probably save a few quid for West Ham owner David Sullivan too. He was going to finance Bassini's bid with a £12.5 million loan -he's doubtless dodged a bullet there.
