Adam Leventhal @AdamLeventhal · 2m #WatfordFC transfer update Rose has now departed TG after two bids rejected by Spurs.
Levy now lumbered with Rose's salary until January unless a Scottish or European club come in for him in the next few weeks
TalkSport saying no chance. Say we bid £12m and £14.5m - both rejected. And a loan deal was a non-starter due to his contract only having a year left. Reporter at Spurs training ground says he was allowed to go to London Colney in hope a deal could be struck but Spurs predicted bigger bids from us but delays over Sessegnon deal were also unhelpful - that deal is delayed because Josh Onoumah is going the other way and that’s not gone smoothly. Reporter says he expects Rose won’t be happy about it given his outspoken nature.
I'm not too disappointed; this proposed transfer was not a thing until today. If we did reportedly bid £12m-£14m for him, then that in itself is over the odds for a player with 11 months remaining on his contract and who is surplus to requirements. I'm sure Rose himself is furious though.
Levy is greedy. And a shrewd negotiator. But think he may have lost out here. 14M now or very little next year
I assumed others on this thread were ITK when they said he had 1 year. If it was indeed two years then the fees suggested make more sense.
Probably 'cos the papers got wet. We'd have likely been better off trying to negotiate the deal at a table. Unless the Pozzos were trying to waterboard Levy in to accepting?
Rose has always struck me as a bit of a pain in the ar5e, so I'm not too disappointed that we couldn't get this done
One is Iwobi to Everton. The other was Sheff Utd...I think...wasn't paying attention, but a cannon fodder team. So that leaves 4.
Probably too much to hope for, if we were £1m-£2m away from a deal rather than £8m-£10m then I reckon they would have signed a deal sheet and Rose would still be at London Colney.
