Unfortunately Syd, it is our glass house though. If we want to throw rocks at the windows its our prerogative, however as a guest you probably shouldn't.

For what its worth I have no problem with Everton as a club, its fanbase or the lovely people of the city of Liverpool. Some of my best mates from uni are Liverpudlians. It doesn't stop me making jokes about their origins, and I would never park my car outside their house for fear of losing my tyres to cinder blocks.

Surely you can understand though why people would give you fairly short shrift here? You unsettle our manager, derail our season. Refuse to initially pay compensation, then sign a very talented young winger. People are a bit fed up of everton and the antics of those at the top of the club. It has nothing to do with the fans who I'm sure are by and large a great bunch. Unfortunately some of the comments you made were in bad taste.

Doucoure stated only wants to go to top 6 club so that rules out Everton

Feeling towards Everton summed up as follows

He played in every single one of your Premier League games the season that you had him, and only 6 of those were as a sub.

 

He would be by far our best player? Truthfully, and I'm not trying to cause an argument, I'm not even 100% convinced he'd walk straight into the team. I mean, I'd absolutely take him but the thought had been vaguely bouncing around my mind that it doesn't seem particularly obvious whose place he would take. Best player? There's a few who spring to mind that I'd keep from our team before I thought about putting Doucoure in it.

Regardless, he's staying put and it's almost certainly for the best for all concerned. I'd much rather we took a lead out of the Pozzo book and went for someone for less than half the price. I didn't mind the Richarlison signing quite so much as he was very young and we would probably already nearly double our money on him.

Doucoure just feels like a lazy target to me. As much as he's a good player, there are others like him in Europe who would come cheaper right now. Feels a lot like it's a player Silva has asked for and we've just gone along with it. First time I've raised an eye at a player we've moved for under our new DoF (the 2nd time was a little later today when it was reported that we had made a loan move for Chris Smalling).

 

Do you know why Everton fans I know or meet are fine, but those online are wholly obsessed with how 'big' a club they are and how much money they have?

I reckon you probably just notice them more since all the Silva stuff brought them to your attention. Look hard enough and there are dipsticks who seem to inhabit cyberspace representing pretty much every club. Anonymity gives people licence to act like a blert

Mostly on here we just discuss mowing lawns, make cheese jokes or other sarrprisingly poor puns, and occasionally touch on the lack of progress in the transfer market.

Damn. We have no hope with Welbeck. Everton are massive. Have you seen how much stuff they won about 40 years ago ?

 

Ah The Mirror, gospel of the football rumours. 5 year ago we would have been in for Welbeck like a shot. In fact there was a running joke on some of the Everton sites a couple of weeks back that it would be the most Everton thing in the world for us to eventually miss out on a talent like Moise Kean and end up signing Danny Welbeck on deadline day.

Hasn't been linked to us once by any source I'd give any credibility to.

 

The anger phase will only come if we don't sign a decent centre back today. Otherwise I'm delighted with the business we've done.

If we end up with Chris Smalling/Phil Jones/Marcus Rojo/James Tarkowski/Any other bang average Premier League centre back, I may go to that dark place (not Luton).
