Do you agree there is a lack of communication between the fans and the club with regard to local media ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...manchester-united-west-ham-united-youngsters/ Is that just a sign of the times with the advent of social media and the fact as a Premier league club we have bigger fish to fry compared to the local paper? Afterall not sure the W0 have had a great relationship with the club for a whille since the Simpson /Ashton days ! At least the Pozzos haven't banned them and generally Gino is a quiet private man .
Embarrassing comments on there. People who want to be spoon fed information by the club or rely on a dying weekly newspaper for updates in the internet age.
Yes - the days of GT phoning his mate Oli Philips up and giving hints and tram news are long gone ! Like you say it's all about Social media .. Probably didn't help the Watford Observer that some reporters weren't that supportive of the Pozzos ..
I always log in to the WO. The relationship between the town, club, fans and WO goes back a long way and the Pozzos say they want to retain the club 'family ' and heritage traditions. For some reason it doesn't seem to apply to the WO. It's disappointing imo that for some reason they don't get the occasional 'exclusive' or insights. It will be a sad day if and when the paper folds.
Shame that no longer any decent investigative reporting. WO just cut and paste what appears on twitter Have become meaningless as a form of news
They do get the occasional exclusive. Just this summer they got the exclusive that Watford weren’t interested in Craig Dawson.
Hope you don't read Twitter. The desperation to praise a club and a ******* terrible away shirt in order to get a free one is quite shocking.
I haven’t listened to it yet but the Football Ramble podcast has done an interview with former sheep botherer Will Hughes. Their interview episodes are really good usually, informal without being a load of #ladzfootybantz I know the medium is taking over the world so you’re probably all aware but if you’re new to podcasts get the Acast app on your smartphone or tablet. Apple Podcasts is terrible, don’t bother.
The one they did with Neil Etheridge is really interesting. Just finished listening to the will hughes one which is far more dull - I guess that's what happens when you try an interview a guy who's 24 about his footballing career so far
Not true. I sent a carrier pigeon to the club asking for an update and they replied yesterday "We've completed the permanent signing of Marlon King" So I'm all up to date.
Might give that one a miss then! I’ll be interested to see how the get on with going to daily shows this season, I think they’ll be spreading themselves too thin personally and lose the essence of what’s made the show so good over the last ten years.
The next pigeon is going to have a personal message attached for you directly from Marlon apparently.
Just started listening to this at work. Will Hughes doesn’t sound like I’d previously imagined he would. Weird.
I seem to remember when the Wobby was a good source for rumours and Frank Smith was the go-to guy. Then WDSport took over and a lot of the writers went there. When that folded and Kevin Affleck went to the 'fishal site, nothing really replaced it. Adam Leventhal is a good source, but I think most of his work will come via The Athletic now.
A Lisbon tram, specifically one of the private ones. A (very oblique) hint that the next Brazilian wonderkid is on his way?
Prizes all round. Born in Weybridge but moved to Derby aged 2. Unless he was a child prodigy or has been wearing headphones for 22 years, I wouldn't expect a thick Surrey accent.
Agreed, just the sort of positive role model we need. I suggest making him the poster boy for the Junior Hornets!
Not everyone especially those of a certain age are au fait with modern technology and prefer getting their news the old fashioned way. There should always be choices for people to take.
What, people contributing to the comments section on the Watford Observer site are not au fait with modern technology? I'm not suggesting they need to go accessing the dark web to get news.
