Likely to go somewhere though. We won't sign this guy if there is any form of price competition. With back ups #2 and #3 gone to CP & NUFC its more likely than not that we will start the year with the same wing options as last year. Still a few weeks for an offer to come in for Doucs or GD that is "...too good to turn down".
Yep. Given we sold Lukebakio for £20m (or thereabouts) I don’t think it’s that we couldn’t afford £35m. It’s more that it was £10m less last week so this (if true) has the hallmarks of being an auction and the Rennes owner driving the price up. Gino will have no interest in this.
Might be able to structure a deal whereby we could end up paying €35m over a period based on appearances, goals and maybe sell-on fee if he showed he was worth that.
If this doesn't go through, I hear there's a promising lad at Feyenoord, Simon Berghouse or something like that.
Can't remember what I was on about....probably Gray's fault. He used to play for Luton you know. Re. Brexit I am not a fan. Guy in the Esso garage said it would proper mess us up and he's planning to stay in France now it's stuffing up the pound.
My sauces, Mr Heinz and Branston have informed me tonight that this is not happening, we have switched our attention to Mayo.
We will but they will be underwhelming. Let's just say the U23 team may get a shot in the arm later this week.
Let’s just say Leventhal does know more than the average person about out transfer dealings... He has said this morning that he thinks today is pivotal. I wonder if perhaps with Rennes back from China and Sarr back, Gino will approach knowing there is no more excuses to a deal - if Rennes still prevaricate then Gino will withdraw interest and see if Rennes come back at the end of the window?
My prediction a couple of weeks ago was the time for this deal to finalise was from 3pm today until 3pm Tuesday. For me, that's the golden 24 hours. The reason for this, is because Sarr is back from his holiday and back to work. If all has gone well with the Rennes negotiations, then it would be just a question of flying Sarr over today for a medical then possibly an announcement later today or tomorrow. If by 3pm tomorrow, we've still not heard anything, not even reports from reputable sources of him flying over for a medical, then I believe the likelihood of this actually happening is greatly reduced. I don't believe this will go to the last day.
I've consistently said that I expect this to be announced during the last days of the window. It's pretty much a done deal, all sorted, except for some minor details, which may yet prove critical.
No I disagree. For me the crucial period is 14.45pm today until 15.37pm tomorrow, both UK time. If there is no news in that timeframe I believe 15.38pm tomorrow until close of the window will become crucial, more crucial than the lapsed initial crucial window. I can't say how I know this, ESSO you're just going to have to believe me.
Finally some news. He's flying to England for a medical as we speak. Expect to be announced tomorrow. https://www.football-italia.net/141686/done-deal-cancelo-man-city Good deal for City that.
This next 24 hour period will be crucial. The deal is all but done. And now he is back from china there are no new excuses left. We can expect one or more or less of our rivals such as muff and palace to be announcing him anytime between now and the window closing. If he was going to come he would have done by now. Rennes obviously playing games and want a biding war and way more than we are willing to play. he wont be coming.
If we do buy Sarr then that must surely signal at least a plan B with how we play? Maybe even the start of Deeney AD? Evolution if you will. Otherwise we will yet again put a round peg in a square hole.
He is a right winger. He will hopefully be replacing Hughes (who was the square peg in the round hole).
Leventhal tweeted someone back saying that this could go to the wire/run out of time!! Run out of time!!!! We’ve had 3 months to get this deal done. I said this would Dux’s excuse, we tried but we ran out of time. Absolute nonsense. Interestingly he wrote someone back on his new publication in the comment section saying he expects a deal with Kim Min Jae to be done and for him to join us in January. However he then backtracks by ending saying that anything can happen though.
Get French Football News @GFFN · 9m Watford will continue to pursue Ismaila Sarr (Rennes) this week; 2 unnamed clubs have also joined the race (FF)
If true, very predictable. Guessing the 2 unnamed clubs would be either Palace, Leicester or Bournemouth.
It's been amazing even being linked with a player of this calibre (who I'd never heard of). Thanks ponzes.
Palace if Zaha goes. I doubt Leicester as they signed Perez. Bournemouth just paid a decent fee for a winger in Danjuma.
