I thought the 1881 brought the atmosphere irrespective of empty seats?

What if there's a gutless shitbag 'fan' who isn't prepared to support the team when things get tough? Or a Luton-supporting troll who pretends to be a Watford fan just so he can come on here and stir things up because he thinks he's so hard and funny peddling the same old negative b0ll0cks time and time again?

Tap in before you head back. A minor inconvenience, but better than wasting your afternoon watching a predictable **** show with Deeney huffing around, our defence hoofing into the stands and the cherry on the cake of an 80th minute cameo from a disinterested Success.

Hope you weren't very late for the Cup semi-final. I know how difficult it is to find a parking space around Wembley

For anyone still pondering what the bit in brackets meant, Dave Messenger has said on Twitter as long as you let the club know you won’t be attending, it won’t count against you.

They will however only accept notification on parchment, witnessed by a notary and delivered on horseback.

Feel for the single parents out there that have to juggle seeing their kids and trying to not miss 2 games in a season!

Seeing as that is exactly how Gino makes his transfer offers, it stands to reason really.

I wonder if this rule applies to corporate season tickets

    Why can't the kids go?

Why have a season ticket if you have incompatible responsibilities?

4-5 games is a quarter. Do we want a quarter of the ground empty?

I really find it hard to believe there are people who all of a sudden can't go to multiple games minute due to emergencies that they couldn't have sent an email to the club before

Spoken to the club, it’s a simple message: if you can’t attend, go to the home page and let them know. That’s it. The email could have been slightly clearer but that’s all there is. They have to do something, fan’s forums (fora?) have made that clear.

Personally I’m glad people are talking about it because that will make more difference to attendance.

Hopefully the biggest scrutiny goes on the cheapo family stand tickets and those on heavily subsided pre-promotion season tickets.

Well, it could be: If it happens last minute, as I suspect a lot of occasions are, then it might be near impossible to get through to them, as they will be busy. They are going to have to man a lot of telephones to get around that and I'll bet they won't do that.

  17. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

How many times can someone not be able to go at the last minute a season?

I'll give you traffic or an emergency but if you have a lifestyle which means that there's a good chance you might miss a lot of games, you shouldn't have a season ticket so someone else who doesn't have those issues can go.

Seems fair. You'd be a pretty **** fan not to inform the club if you know in advance. I imagine this isn't aimed at those on here so much, probably just those non Watford fans that only go to the top 4-6 games.

I have always informed historically (for example I struggle to make Monday night games) so this doesn’t impact me. If the club really wanted to ensure people do it then they should offer a credit against next season’s ticket if they resell. I imagine that would be tricky to administer though but I imagine it might motivate people!

Of course, money would motivate them, but it is a shame that people need to be motivated. It is just a decent thing to do.

A lot of people think they own the seat itself in perpetuity, as if it were a birthright. Rather than a more general right to get in the ground for each match.

Exactly my situation and why I had to give up my season ticket a couple of years ago, previously held for many, many years. One son who has been to many games, one daughter who has no interest, even if I forced her to attend that is the cost of three season tickets (that I would not get anyway because of waiting list and buying history) for every other weekend (maybe, that changes all the time for TV) and too young to be at midweek matches. Even if I could fund it I'd be the one constantly handing tickets in.

It's close but the kids have to come first, I have to fill my Watford chat these days with the shoutbox and you bunch of miserable feckers, and some of you really are fecking miserable.

    Happy days!

    Why?

I have one of those lifestyles. Nearly three years ago my wife suffered a serious spinal injury at the hands of a negligent surgeon. Since then her spine has collapsed leading to reconstructive surgery earlier this year at Stanmore but sadly complications still exist. She can't work, can't sit, is in constant pain and suffers epileptic-like fits caused by the nerve damage. Some days are better than others. We have a young family.

Been a season ticket holder for 33 of the last 38 years; the other five I worked for the club on matchdays. Including times I kept the season ticket going even whilst working abroad. Previous to the last couple of years I was considered highly loyal.

Childminders have let me down, my wife has had fits when I've been walking out the door, kids are ill and I have to look after them, sometimes I just can't face the 90mins each way round the M25 to footy because I am utterly exhausted. Each one of those happened last season, all at no notice. Life isn't planned and straightforward like it is for most people. I wish it was but it isn't and I miss too many games. I hate it, I want to be at football, I want to meet up and have a beer with my friends. It can be the once in a month I get away from all the crap.

However I don't mind what the club is trying to do. Many people buy tickets they never intend to use much. Many of whom sit in the family stand where tickets can't be easily recycled. I will talk to Dave Messenger if my attendance record becomes an issue for them. They will understand.

What angers me is the attitude of people like you. Poeple with easy, cosy lives. Your argument is 'fcuk you pal' in such circumstances. You tell me to give up my seat even though I'll never get to sit with mates again. There are a lot of close-minded ignorant people on this forum and you sir are one of them.

Pleased to report the new system seems to work well. My son is in Spain this weekend so I gave up his ticket Sunday and got email confirmation back next morning.

Looking forward to arriving at game to find my seat has also been sold :)

System worked well for me today for West Ham as well. Getting the email reply was a good touch, adds certainty that the absence is an 'authorised absence' to use primary school parlance.

Seeing I wont be there I can't wait to hear who got the seat in between my gaggle of deeply loved but very strange, excitable, drunken, drooling friends.

People should be careful for what they wish for.

So looking at Brighton ticket availability the ground is sold out apart from a few in the EJ corner by away fans.

Hopefully the ground is full for day 1
