New initiative from the club aimed at making sure season ticket holders let them know when they're not going to games:

Reads like 2 missed games is the cut, whether you tell them or not?

It’s ok for the players to not turn up to 5 or 6 home games most seasons though

You’d think the idiots would get someone to proof read this.

The bit in brackets is pretty unhelpful.

Not really. It means if you miss two home matches, then you will lose your right to a season ticket next season.

I’m not a season ticket holder so I suppose I get less say, but I like the concept. Hope it works and doesn’t end up costing a genuine regular fan their season ticket rights. Been a few occasions where I’ve not got a ticket or stuck bottom corner and then you see on tv loads of spaces everywhere. Doesn’t look good on us as a club either.

Think it's a great decision, lots of empty seats which could otherwise be filled.
My read is that season ticket will only be possibly rescinded if you fail to inform the club.
Personally I missed I think 3 games last year , a couple because was away on holiday and one because someone had a spare ticket in hospitality.

So people will just get people they know to tap their season tickets like they do now then?

That seems to be the potential implication, But if that’s right, what’s the point/incentive in notifying them then?

I totally understand getting people to inform them if they can’t make it to a match . Normally you would know in advance . However the bit saying ( or simply don’t attend) doesn’t make sense .

The whole theme of the email is informing the club, as then they can resell the tickets, so where is the logic in penalising people who don’t attend for 2 matches ! I go to every match I can but inevitably I miss 2 or 3 games a season as I simply can’t get there , I’m on holiday or have something important happening . I’ve booked to go to an event before and then the fixture is out back to an evening kick off and I’ve had to miss it .

Are they actually saying they’re going to penalise people for missing 2 or 3 matches ! If so that is ridiculous .

Surely at least 50% of season ticket holders miss 2 or 3 matches a season ! Yes

Clearly a mistake. Like the time they said an FA cup match was unreserved seating, when they actually meant season ticket holders seats weren't held in reserve - not that you could sit where you like and ignore the seat number on your ticket!

No incentive. You lose your ticket either way, but you can be nice and considerate beforehand if you like. That’s an option open to you.

What if you are ill or someone in family is ?

Guess common sense will have to be used ?

So if you have a serious sudden illness in the family or traffic issues they won't care ?

Not much good will there from a "family club"..

I totally agree in general if people aren't just turning up be because it's not an attractive game then they need to be questioned .

I think it is just badly worded with the bit in brackets. If you don't tell them that you will not be attending, more than twice, then the renewal is at risk.

    Good move, I reckon.

It can't be difficult to let them know, can it?

A lot of worried people on this thread already. Bless.

Don't worry though, they'll be begging people to take a season ticket in the Championship.

Nonsense. The way it is written:

    1) miss 2 games and don’t tell us
    2) miss 2 games and tell us so we can resell

    Equals lose your season ticket.

It is obvious that the two scenarios are different. A thick person has written this. And a thicker person has reviewed or nobody has reviewed at all.

    Our club employs idiots.

  29. Don't see the problem myself.

Can't make a game? Let them know.

As someone who has a ST but will miss a lot of awkward midweek or late Sunday games I will absolutely let them know which games I won't be making. Job done.

For instance, I'll be missing arsenal at home because I can't make a Sunday afternoon at 4.30pm, but I'll no doubt be at Norwich on a cold ******* down gloomy day in November.

Seems to be a lot of supporters who strangely only seem able to make games when we play the top 6.

I like the idea in principal, but I think missing only 2 matches is a bit harsh, maybe 4 or 5 would be more realistic to take into account holidays etc.

Having said that, if this only kicks in if you have NOT informed the club that you will not be attending then in that case maybe 2 missed games would possibly be okay, but if it is just non-attendance for whatever reason then 4 or 5 missed games would probably be more realistic, unless it is down to exceptional circumstances like illness etc.

Disappointed, I opened this thread expecting to read that the club were offering to keep fans beer cups topped up all game, every game.

  33. That's not how I read it. Miss one game and don't tell them is fine. Miss 2 or more and don't tell them and they will ask why.

It's all about just communication. Miss 6 but let them know each and every time and there's no issue.

At least that's how I interpret it.

I think you’re right. But I would add there should be a limit to the amount of games you can miss even if you inform them. If there is a waiting list for season tickets, then holding on to a season ticket whilst routinely missing games is hardly achieving the aim of a raucous atmosphere.

I would say 4 or more games IN CONSECUTIVE SEASONS (without extenuating circumstances) and you lose your right to automatic renewal.

What if we're walking to the ground and we go 2 goals down before we get there? In those circumstances I would head straight back to the boozer.

Under this scheme we will be penalised for our team being full of gutless shitbags. Doesn't seem fair to me.
