We made a little over a million quid per minute he played for us... That ain't too shabby considering he didn't even look good in those 15 minutes either!

A guy who played a grand total of 15 minutes for us is our third highest transfer fee ever received.

    Quite hilarious, really.

Absolutely buzzing to see us bring in money we inevitably won't spend on improving the squad by selling a player that could have done.

    Praise Pozzo!

I’m more happy knowing that we have got a minimum of £18mil+ upfront with add ones still to come.

How do you know we were paid upfront, not instalments ? Or did you mean a guaranteed £18m rather than "up front" ?

    Kind of sums up football!

I guess we will never know now - I mean didn't Doucouré almost leave before breaking into the first team?

Right now this seems like a great move for everyone and another classic Pozzo wheelo dealo masterstroke, but it could take on a very different complexion if we end up hitting 5 o'clock on the 8th and we haven't brought anyone else in.

Yes, if he wants to go back to Germany and we make a very handsome (relative) profit, we're all smiles, but as our squad stands he is a type of player that could have been very useful, capable of playing in two positions we are shorthanded in, having just had a very successful season playing in an arguably worse team in a league of equal quality to our own.

If his sale is the final piece of a transfer puzzle that locks in Sarr, or indeed another mystery reinforcement that we've been totally in the dark about, then it's 4d chess again from Gino. But if our window does collapse into as damp a squib as Markoa, for one, predicts, I'm not sure how long the vaguest hints of 'disruption' surrounding his dressing room presence will stave off questions about how we could afford the luxury of discarding a now-proven asset without even a chance at the Vic.

In essence, I'm not sure we can judge this transfer at all for another week. Fingers crossed that when the club shop flings its door open tomorrow morning, an exciting Ivorian winger comes striding out of them, away shirts in hand for everyone.

Twice. First time we sent him out straight on loan after signing him. Second time his loan fell through as the paperwork was late. We really did muck him around in his first year with us.

If that isn’t enough, the club reminded us today of what Pereyra can do, with no defence in front of him from 12 yards with the whole goal to aim for. Dizzy heights.

Looks like a great bit of business sure . However as people have been saying if we don’t spend the cash it will be a bit disappointing, as he obviously has talent and could have added to our squad .

We don’t know what’s gone on behind the scenes and maybe Dodi was adamant he wanted to leave, but I think we are all waiting for that marquee signing and if it doesn’t come this sale might be questioned

I'm not sure, but wasn't it an actual sale that fell through rather than a loan? But, whatever it was, it shows that no matter how experienced staff are, the coach and his back-up, some are just incapable of recognising talent when it is staring at them in the face.

Hope we have a big sell-on clause.
Scoring double figures in his first season in the Bundesliga, for an average at best team, while also adapting to a new position is no mean feat.

Who’s to say he can’t get 15-20 goals next year and be worth double what we sold him for.

I'll stand corrected, it was a loan but I'm sure I read it was with a view to a permanent move. I'll have to look it up.

  20. Doesn't really fit Gracia's 442, so I don't think we'll miss him. Doesn't do enough defensively for one of the wide midfield roles, Del has the #10 role, and he's not a #9.

But when Del tires after 65 mins I’d rather give this bloke a go or Gray as opposed to the deadwood that is Success or Okaka.

Just had to point out that the Bundesliga is not as good as the PL.

Last season Liverpool knocked out Bayern and Spurs knocked out Dortmund in the CL, and Chelsea knocked out Frankfurt in the EL.

The PL is second in UEFA's current league coefficient table, with Bundesliga third, with the PL much closer to La Liga's points at the top than to the Bundesliga below.

in an average league. It really isn't a great deal better than the Dutch league. Nobody of any note seemed interested in him apart from Hertha Berlin who finished 11th last year and his general attitude is apparently not great so I think this is a great deal. Very similar to Berghuis who remains in Holland scoring plenty of goals but never seems to be linked to better leagues.

To say the Bundesliga isn’t a great deal better than the Dutch League is nonsense in my view.

It seems that a lot of fans a delighted we sold Lukebakio for around £18.2m. But, to put it into perspective, little Brighton are signing Adam Webster, a Championship centre half, from little Bristol City for £22m!!

  30. Knight GT

Fair enough but outside of Bayern and Dortmund in my view, it's a pretty poor league. I'll be honest I don't watch it but just look at how their clubs do in Europe

If they've got the money, it doesn't matter.
We bought Wilmot from Stevenage for far less but he's not close to the first team. Webster is a better bet for now than Wilmot, the cost is irrelevant if Brighton can afford it.
