1at call from a guy on Talksport for us to be relegated as we rely on Deeney too much and will he cope much longer ..

Said we might be like Fulham...despite only making one signing so far .

And think we might get big headed and view ourselves as an established PL team..well 5 years is a lot but guess you always have to be wary .

Wonder how many other pundits will have us down for the bottom 3.

I think we’ll finish below the bottom 3.

The bigger discussion was the firm belief that at least one of the traditional Top 6 would drop out and who was most likely so replace them. Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea were suggested as the most likely to exit, and there are legitimate arguments for each of them. Leicester was generally seen as the most likely to step up, but Watford, West Ham, Wolves and Everton were all mentioned.

Doubt very much it's going to be Watford, still just the one signing so far, don't think it will be Wolves either. Probably Leicester is the better shout. Don't really care who drops out, but if I had to say, probably Utd.

Nobody is ever correct at predictions. the only one who comes close is Lawro. But, we all knew that.

My prediction is we'll start the season in 18th and in all likelyhood we'll either remain there, or go up or down from that position.

It's still too soon to be making predictions about anyone, there's a lot of the window to go yet.

    Exactly.

A lot of hot air about how the cricket should have been a draw.

In football the winner is decided by alphabetical order! (Assuming the teams are level in all other respects.)

    NZ would still have lost.

I think he was trying to say they were an established club would got ideas ahead of their station so to speak but maybe got confused with someone else!

I cannot see the Pozzos doing that as you suggest....

PH is right - was a general discussion about who might get into the top 6 and for once we did actually a mention as a Watford fan rung up but as I say his idea was rather pooed pooed on by the guest on the show!

Probably will be nearer bottom 6 than top 6 I accept but never know and well if we are relying on Deeney as the journalist felt then yes we will be in trouble!

Don't mind people predicting us being relegated provided well reasoned arguements for doing so
Sadly predictions for us being relegated normally based on the following

We are not a big or fashionable club

We don't spend big money on transfers

Apart from Deeney pundits have no knowledge or wish to have any knowledge of our playing staff

We don't have a British manager

We are a club most pundits don't think deserve to be a premier League club and should be replaced by more deserving bigger clubs such as Leeds, Forest, etc etc

Any pundit could predict relegation based on the way we finish every previous season and I’d accept it.

If the majority of pundits don’t predict we are one of the favourites for relegation I will become disillusioned.

If they start doing reasoned analysis of Watford’s modus operandi and think beyond Deeney and Doucoure and possibly Doulofeu I’ll be gobsmacked and think the system of lazy journalism and top6/new boys focus is broken.

But they won’t do a detailed rational analysis.
They will predict us to fail.
    So all is well.

I think most pundits don't really like us, or at least care for us. They will see us a pointless, boring team who will not go down, and will not get near the top 6. And as such we'll be mentioned rarely.

    I'm ok with that.

We've been around for a few years now plus we were in the cup final (although had a poor result), the bookies have us roughly in the middle.

Taking Coral as an example https://sports.coral.co.uk/competitions/football/football-england/premier-league

In the PL Win market, we are joint 12th favourites (joint with Palace and Southampton)
In the relegation market, we are 10th favourites (longer odds than Palace and Southampton)
    To stay up, we're 1/10.
To finish in bottom half we are odds on but so are West Ham.

Most pundits will probably place us somewhere between 11th and 15th in their predictions.

Without Big 6 we are joint 5th with Palace.

I think there is a lot of value in Wolves failing, the Thursday night jaunts across Europe plus they got lucky with injuries last season, plus they didn't do so great against the lower order teams and done well against the top 6 suggest that the top 6 took them for granted. I think Wolves will have a tough season ahead and finish much lower than last season.

Wolves 33/1 to go down is worth a few quid but to finish bottom half of 7/4 is good value but is it value enough to take a punt?
Bournemouth 9/2 to go down is tempting.

I’d say there’s a better chance of Wolves getting ‘given’ a few quality players via Jorge Mendes and doing the same again. Rumours they are getting Diego Costa....

  17. But going by the Downunder alphabet, they would have been above England - therefore would have won...

On an offtopic note, I was looking through bookies odds the other day and it seems the bookies don't have a clue about League 2 - PaddyPower have every team in the league between odds of 1/6 - 1/200 to avoid relegation!

It's a bit too early for accurate predictions, as there is a still a lot of transfer deals to be made.

However, had the window closed with what we have currently, I think we'd be closer to the bottom three for comfort. I don't think we'd be relegated, but I think we'd be one of the teams fighting it out.

Hopefully we'll see another CB and a couple of attacking talents added to the squad before we kick off, and that would change my opinion. The end of season collapses always put me on a downer in terms of how I feel we're going to do.

We're no longer being spoken of in that chasing pack behind the top 6. It's all Everton, Leicester, Wolves and West Ham. Then it seems to be the rest. We are currently in "the rest" group as far as the media are concerned.

Wolves off to a flyer 4-0 against the new improved Newcastle in the China friendly cup thingy.
They start their European campaign soon so as you say this could scupper early season form especially as they have some toughies to start in the EPL.
But too strong to go down I think.

But Newcastle with Steve Bruce, that’s another thing altogether and their fans aren’t all together on his appointment.
Lost their 2 top goal scorers, no signings yet ... will be an interesting season for Toons fans ..

Thing is, he rarely backs them to draw either. I think the season before last, when they totted up the league table based on his predictions, Liverpool won by about 40 odd points with 26 wins and 2 draws.

Clearly someone has set up the market in the database and given super-short odds as a place holder, it shouldn't have been published to the website. Each company has their own policy, some will set every selection to 1/100 or their status to No Offers.
