Still, at least we're not Villa, eh? They couldn't sign a birthday card.

I suspect we may have a few more freebees to come.
The of course we have all the sales to come, not Okaka, Zeegelaar, Prodl, who we will probably extend, I mean a star or two.

I really don’t understand the panic?

We’ve addressed the most crucial concern in the squad early (CB). A lot of clubs haven’t done much yet. There’s over 3 weeks of the window left and I’m sure more signings will be made.

The other CB we are linked with is playing in China and won’t be joining until January anyway should we sign him. We are linked with 3 wingers (Trezeguet, Sarr, Saint-Maximin), 2 of whom have been playing in the ACON and one is still involved. Joao Pedro and Cucho potentially to come in the next 6-12 months.

Bachman, Cleverley and Chalobah will be like new signings as they barely featured last season.

We all like shiny new players who are better than what we have. But I don’t get the panic or anger of some fans in mid-July!

Cleverley is basically Championship standard now. Not sure that the possibility of him featuring more is anything to get excited about.

Everyone entitled to their opinion but I don’t know what you’re basing this one on? Last time he was fully fit, he was more than adequate as a member of the squad in my opinion.

No panic here, just boredom. I want something to happen so we can get ourselves excited over the YouTube highlights. It’s the best part of the summer transfer window.

We’re the Footbal Manager generation. We expect huge overhaul and exotic young stars every damn window.

    That says it all.

I want some bonkers transfer links to get excited about for three days, it's all too quiet.

Plus, if you're excited about a 25 year old goalkeeper occasionally making the 18 man squad this season then I'm a bit concerned.

  9. Burnsy

    Burnsy First Team

Not sure where I said I was excited about it.

Personally I’m more concerned not with signings but that Gracia will have us lining up with the same tactics again this season and with little back-up plan.

Last season was more success than failure. But Pereyra and Hughes weren’t playing in their natural positions and I think a lot of it was due to the fact that we didn’t have a striker who can play up front alone.

Personally, I think we can make as many decent signings as we like but if the formation stays as that 4-2-2-2, we won’t see much progression anyway.

I think a strong striker to lead the line coupled with a return to RW for Gerard makes us more effective all round and gives us the option of Deeney on the bench to come on and change a game in the last 25 mins.

Still think Deeney will start whenever fit though, sadly.

We need pace up front or its far too easy to defend against us. Thats why Gerry D is pushed up front, we're far too pedestrian otherwise. And it gets our most skilful player on the ball nearer the goal. Can't see it changing unless we buy a no. 9 who is strong AND quick.

Why move our top scorer and probably, biggest threat out wide? He's admitted he loves playing Central too. Absolutely appalling suggestion.

And how long ago was that?! I'm being perhaps a tad harsh there, but he's a clear drop in quality from the rest of our midfielders. I also didn't think he looked very good or sharp when he did get to play last season. He's 30 in a month and has had a lot of recent injury and fitness issues, his top performances are probably behind him, and even at his best he was only alright. Therefore, I'd be worried if we had to use him much in the Prem next season, hence why the idea of considering him as being like a positive new signing is silly.

He could do a Capoue and somehow have a twilight year or two ahead of him still, but I'd be very surprised.

Charlie Austin is worth a punt in my opinion. Always looked a clever play and bizarrely Southampton want rid. Can he play as a lone striker?

Reportedly on £100,000 at City. Unless he can go to China, nobody anywhere is paying him that again. So his demands would have to come down - £50k-£60k p/w for us with no transfer fee involved, we should be able to afford that?

  19. Markoa$

His agent will be able to get some dumb club like West Ham to pay it. As you said, a Chinese club would be willing to pay that as well. I like the idea but just don’t see it ever happening. More chance of us signing Kim Min Jae though.

Austin has registered 16 goals in 66 appearances for Southampton, with just 2 of those coming in the 25 games he managed last season. I'm not sure it's at all bizarre that they want rid.

Doesn't sound like Deulofeu is either angling for a move or going back to being on the wing any time soon.
I really don't think we will be buying a striker this summer.

Yes but that 2 would have been 50% higher if that "goal" against us hadn't been wrongly ruled out. Changes everything, and probably cost him a big money move.

Leicester, West Ham & Southampton will all be stronger this season.

Villa could go either way, as could Wolves with the Europa League campaign.

Our forward line needs a serious makeover and if we don't get some additions in I think we will be closer to Burnley, Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace & Newcastle at the end of the season and that is SO uninspiring.

Nah, just being in the EPL is the inspiration m8. Can't wait for another season of sharing the pitch with the big boys and struggling against similar sized teams. Finishing 17th is like winning the EPL for us!

Oh and we might have a new FAN DESIGNED badge for our £60 shirts! That's almost like losing 5-0 in a cup final.

Nothing better than English football right now and IT'S LIVE.

For all the people on here or social media who have suggested Danny Welbeck, the papers this morning are saying no one is interested in taking him because he wants £100,000 p/w and a £5m signing on fee.

Considering his injury record, thats beyond hopeful. But it’s still likely West Ham or Palace will give it to him.
