It's a bit bizarre. But then, in an era where the club seems to think everything is up for grabs and negotiable when it comes to marketing opportunities, it seems they accept shirt sales are always going to be consistent. They're probably right. When was the last time you saw a Watford shirt for sale outside of Watford? 4yrs of PL football and an Adidas shirt deal seem to have had no effect on that.

I know it’s irrelevant, but for me personally not getting a shirt out for the summer holidays means I won’t bother buying one. Can’t really pin down why that is but I never buy them when they release them late!

Your shorts should be red. Is coral a colour? I thought it was scratchy stuff off the Australian coast

Our under 18's have already played in the kit.. vs Stevenage on Saturday..

Hilarious how our new sponsor could create a video with the new kit and get it completely wrong.

Is it ‘completely’ wrong because they got the stripe colour wrong?

  8. I'm still hoping the red striped ones are just an initial batch they made up for testing and will roll out black stripes on the final version.

Our shirt looks class compared to the Burger Flippers'.

    Looks cheap & nasty.

In last season's we looked as though we meant business.

    Classic & imposing.

Last seasons will definitely go down as a classic even it will be forever known as the record cup final loss kit.

At least we wont end up with the pink strip down the middle like Juve have on the same template this season!

I will definitely be in the minority - but I wouldn’t have minded a red stripe down the middle and then have the Adidas stripes in black.

If the stripes had to be red, I’d have preferred them down the side/ribs as opposed to on the shoulders.

All that being said, it’s a football shirt and I generally find all shirts post 1996 to all be a bit ghastly. I thought Adidas started doing some good stuff for the World Cup with modern interpretations of each countries classic past shirts. But at club level, they seem to just be lazy with designs.

Well yeah, it's wrong, is it not? They've put out a video with a noticeably different shirt design, which is bizarre that doesn't match the actual kit.

It’s wrong but I’d say it’s fairly minor. Completely wrong would be brown and pink hoops.

I’m not a fan of this kit but the last thing Adidas can be described as is lazy in my view? We had stripes and halves in consecutive seasons. Compare that with all the unadventurous stuff from the last 20 years (notable exception Zola’s second season and QSF effort). And they’ve even taken Juventus out of their stripes! The lazy route for Adidas is just plain tradition with the 3 Adidas stripes added with minor tinkering year on year.

Perhaps lazy was the wrong word. I just think global sporting manufacturers like Adidas and Nike could be a bit more adventurous when making kits for teams. A lot of clubs just seem to share the same templates these days with colours changing. I’m not close enough to it all to know if it’s financially viable for them - but I just think some designs that are actually unique to each club would be good to see. The top clubs get it - and it’s obvious why, but it would be good to see that filter down to the smaller clubs IMO.

Sure, they have put us in stripes and now halves. But they are still template kits, that’s where I think it’s a bit lazy.

But I know - it’s all about profits and designing a bespoke kit for every PL team when the numbers sold will be so small probably isn’t worth it. I think, for me, it’s just a case that you could take our badge off the shirt and put on a Vitesse Arnhem or Burton Albion etc badge and it would be the same. There’s nothing that makes it distinctively ‘our’ kit.

I’m just hoping the black shorts are wrong and hopefully on release day, Adidas have sent us red ones instead.

I think they should bin this kit and start again, there’s still time. Remember the shirt during the Vialli season, literally a yellow t shirt with the watford badge on it? We could assemble something similar in the three weeks before kick off

Looks much better than I expected. Although black stripes would have been better lots of over-reaction because they are likely to be red. Let's issue this now and get a glimpse of the away kit.

  21. Or, and this may sound a bit scandalous, use the same shirt 2 years in a row!!!

I'm sorry, I have no idea where that absolutely insane idea came from.

Mansfield Town still do this, but think it is rare!

  23. Wasn't long ago we rotated home and away updates each season was it?!

Edit: ok it was 1995 and I'm officially old!!!

Apparently this has been done to make Juve’s shirts more marketable in the US where black & white stripes are predominantly worn by officials over there!

Apparently Huddersfield Town are trending and their clubshop website has crashed - would have been genius marketing had the shirt been fake - but supposedly it’s not!

Just seen a tweet that tickled me I must admit...

    @JonnyGabriel
When Paddy Power were brainstorming this embarrassing Huddersfield Town kit launch to get them loads of attention and mockery, they weren't banking on Newcastle announcing Steve Bruce as their new head coach about quarter of an hour later.

It has to be fake, as there are rules on where sponsors logos are allowed to go and how big they can be. I'm pretty sure that breaks all of them! Plus, it's Paddy Power so...

It is a wind up, it's illegal under PL/FL rules - the sponsor's logo is too big.
