2 wickets in 3 overs - surely too late for a wobble ??

    No wobble.

    All good.

Unlucky for Roy but save that 100 for the final.

Might need it if Bairstow is injured .

I suspect after Vince’s form earlier in the tournament that they would rather pick an injured Bairstow and tell him to just swing for the boundary until his luck runs out. Still a better option than Vince.

So Bairstow injured for the final and Roy banned for disciplinary matters after his dissent after being given out ? Boycott & Brearley drafted in to open the batting ? 27/0 wicket after 11 overs in the final after winning the toss and batting, Boycott having faced 63 of the 66 balls ?

Would be just like the ICC to ban Roy from the final for dissent at being given out to a ball that was clearly wasn’t out.

We would have scored 350, potentially rather more.

Shows how incisive Woakes & Archer were.

Fantastic from Rashid in his second spell. Slowed it down & got more purchase. His 2 wickets in the over reframed the whole match.

As one-sided a game anyone will see in a World Cup semi-Final.

    Walloped.

Looking a lot like an Irish victory in the World Cup on Sunday. Don't want to count our chickens or anything like that, but the open top bus ride on O'Connell Street will be amazing.

    Quite.

Although I’m rather more looking forward to Archer taking 5 wickets and then heading off in the Barbadian leg of the victory tour.

    Must have Scottish relations ?

    90% of them are.

Henry, Latham, Nicholls, Munro & Williamson speak to this heritage.

And they generally went there as adventurers in contrast to the Australian model.

Still hope we ******* steamroller them on Sunday.

So sacred is the free to air coverage of the final that Channel 4 have opted to shunt it off to a sub channel when it clashes with their F1 programme.

Hopefully the oldies who may actually want to watch cricket will be able to find youthful helpers to guide them through this multichannel maze.

Btw, as a Sky payer, to whom should I send my sort code details for my rebate?

I guess the BBC didn't fancy having Sky sports coverage on their channels or didn't want more grief for having TWO big sporting occasions on - they get enough moans when the tennis alone is on.

Yes the weather would support this. Maybe even a BBQ to truly celebrate the great British patio?

Scottish heritage less obvious in Auckland, mind.

I really rate Williamson. Wish he was a Pom.

Silly of Bairstow to waste that review.
    Experts,can we beat NZ?
I know we beat them before but ...

It really was a brilliant performance. Every bowler, every batsman contributed, the fielding was great and the Aussies were completely outplayed. 18 overs to spare and only 2 wickets down says it all. It really was one of the best ever one day performances given the quality of the opposition and shows just how good the team can be when every player is at their best. Hopefully they can all maintain that level for the weekend, no drop in the adrenaline and concentration levels given "it's only NZ".

    Overcast on Sunday.

May just suit the NZ swingers.

In the WC, NZ have averaged 194 vs the big 3. Smashed SL & Afg but otherwise tight matches in which Williamson's astuteness in the field has been a major factor.

Last ODI series (in NZ last spring) was 3-2 to us:

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/series/index.html?search=england+nz;season=2017/18;view=season

Their 2 victories were based on outstanding solo performances by Taylor.

How many of their team would get in ours?

Williamson pretty even with Root. Santner > Rashid? Boult vs Woakes?

Overall, either a 6-0 to us or a tight, nervy affair.

I worry that Guptill has done naff all so far (save to run out Dhoni).

I'd be happy to have Boult, Williamson, Santner and de Grandhomme. Especially as the latter looks like Andy Caddick.

    Knight GT Predictor extraordinaire 2013/14

It's very difficult to argue against England. Absolutely every player, except surprisingly Butler, hav made made major contributions. The opening pair are the best in the world. Root has scored over 500 runs in the World Cup and averages over 50. Stokes batting has been brilliant. Morgan has done pretty well but it's his captaincy that stands out. All the bowlers have come to the party but Jofra Archer has been a major bonus. His opening spell was magnificent yesterday.
We should win but in a one off game you never know and they do have some very good players, especially the bowling which proved it's worth against India.

More like Charles de Gaulle, as IBB suggests.

Syllogistically, de Gaulle & Doberman should then look the lick spit of each other.

I suspect de Gaulle's temperament was closer to Bilko's.
