Due to overrunning work on the Vicarage Road pitch and parts of the stadium, there is a strong chance that we're going to request that our first game of the season v Brighton is switched to the Amex
Its five weeks away - If Brighton are Ok with it , I cant see why the PL would object. They were very accommodating to Spurs over delays to new White Hart Lane.
I hope not. I get back from holiday the day before and was looking forward to going to the game. Get the builders working nights.
Don't want to be away from home on day 1 to a team with a brand new manager and fans really up for the brave new world after the exit of dour Hughton. Turns a likely home win vs a fellow relegation candidate into a likely defeat away to one.
Hmm, interesting. What’s your source? Could see it happening depending on the scale of works but surely the club would’ve held off on releasing tickets today if that was a possibility.
Seriously poor. We’ve been spoilt with fantastic starts in each Prem season. One season this run will end & this switch significantly increases the risk this time. What happened to the can do Polish guys who built the SEJ?
One man team who fancied rebuilding the East stand if I recall. Hammered with his left hand and hammered with his right
Seriously not happy with this, I always wait for release of the televised matches, and then make my arrangements. This is far too late to make a change like this. Unfair on the Seagull's fans also. However, on the club website, they are still advertising ticket sales for the match, and stating Saturday 3pm kick off, without even a mention that it could be altered. So fingers crossed and all that.
Considering we're playing a friendly at home on the 3rd, I doubt there's any over-running work on the pitch that would mean we couldn't play on the 10th! As for other building work, who knows. But this all sounds very unlikely.
Couldn't agree more. A good start is not a given. Has to be fought for. Switching the venue for the first game would b really dumb. Last season Brighton were not physically ready and were unprepared for our new system, Burnley were hamstrung by Europe and we were lucky against both Palace and Spurs. We need to load the dice as heavily in our favour as possible. Unless of course some Machiavellian genius has worked out Brighton will be too open and attacking at home and we will murder them with a new formation?
Can see no reason why they would have announced the Sociedad game knowing that the pitch/stadium may not even be ready a week later. File under nonsense.
