I saw it at the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Taron Egerton is excellent at Elton. 5 Stars

Did you learn anything new or was it just a well acted couple of hours that basically tells you what you already know ?

  3. You didn't realise quite how horrible (if accurate) John Reid was; how devastated he was by his Father's coldness; but no, it's not a documentary. Stephen Graham excellent (as always) as **** James.

Meister - get this filter sorted out.

With reviews like this, I think you should be classed as the forums own Barry Norman.

I went to see it in the hope of being entertained rather than educated and wasn't disappointed

I wasn't looking to be educated. I was looking to avoid being bored.

If you find the music of Elton John, good acting, drugs and gay sex boring then this probably isn't for you. Personally, those are some of my favourite things so I thought it was superb

Love the music of EJ, when sung by EJ.
Good acting is great if I'm interested in what's being acted.
Drugs are, well were, great fun but not I'm so excited about watching others acting pretending to take them.
And gay sex I hear is just a pain in the bum.
Yes, think I will give it a miss.

Bit dissapointing that it doesn't have a section that includes his life at Watford with Graham. Considering the club openly advertised the film as well - presumably out of good gesture, it's a bit strange. Not sure if i'm gonna watch it now...

  11. If you watch it, you'll see that it would be hard to put anything in that was in keeping with the rest of the film. I suspect it is out of respect.

True, but TBF I gather the well-known fact that he was a L**** fan before getting involved with WFC was glossed over in the film.

You’ll have to watch the Elton episode of Kevin Bishop’s Star Stories if all you want to see is Watford mentioned.

It’s also a far more accurate account of his life apparently and you only have to spend 30 minutes of your time on it

Elton has talked about in the past about how GT helped him get back on the straight and narrow - this is mainly set before them when he was going off the rails and hating anyone who spoke to him it seems.

No chance - she knows too much about football to play the character convincingly

Cant believe it wasnt a 90 mins highlight of Watfords 140 year history with a nod to the side part of Eltons career as a musician.

Or, alternatively, you could read a book.

Started Tom Doyle’s Captain Fantastic last night.

    Bowling along.

In fact, I’m going to plunge back in now.

Don't know if this has been posted anywhere at all but it just came up on my YouTube feed.

I said after the FA Cup Final defeat it would be great to see us get a song like Blue Moon sung throughout our stadium and I suggested Rocketman (Im sure not the first to)

I HOPE, I hope, this isn't the closest we get to it and the club pushes this song to the fans at the VIC this coming season.

    Below gives me chills:

Switch 'Rocketman' with 'Watford Fan' and 'Burning out his fuse up here alone' with 'Burning out his fuse at Vicarage Road' and we are set.

Please god no. Each to their own but I certainly don’t get chills and just find it cringeworthy.

Some clubs have an anthem, some don’t. We don’t.

It was alright. I wanted to kick the young Elton in the face, I hate that high pitched stage school singing. Matey boy Egerton was really good, he’s always watchable even if he’s not in the best films. I did notice a couple of Watford Easter eggs, I’m sure the giant taxidermy bear in his hallway had a scarf round its neck.

I know next to nothing about his music or his life and I didn’t even realise that the movie itself is a pretty cheesy musical rather than a down the line biopic.

6/10, could have used a cameo by Jordan Stewart.

I hear they're looking at companion film but this time based on the rise of Lesta City, helmed by Brendan Rodgers.

    Working title 'Pocketman'.

With a view to broadening his sporting portfolio, word has it that SEJ is working on a biopic of Leicester's master cueman, the venerable Willie Thorne.

Confusingly also to be called 'Pocketman'.

Can someone’s work on a profiled wheel with teeth, or cogs, that mesh with a chain, track or other perforated or indented material really be turned into a half decent biopic?

I see a whole movie franchise spawning from that very starting point....

There was even the prequel where he was being ridiculed as he struggled to get his sprocket invention off the ground. "Don't mock-it-man".
